In 1835, the Bofarull family founded one of the most charismatic restaurants in the city, Can Bofarull, in the most emblematic part of the Gothic District, near Las Ramblas in Barcelona. Over time, the restaurant was renamed in honour of one of its most famous dishes, Los Caracoles (Snails). Since then, four more generations of the Bofarull family have managed to maintain the excellent standard of it's high quality traditional cooking.The restaurant's well-earned fame has spread all over the world and is now an absolute must for all those visiting our city. It stands out for always having been a place frequented by famous personalities from the world of art, show business, politics and finance, attracted not only by the choice of culinary pleasures served there but also the charm of its numerous little corners so full of history.

Great place in history and for that I’ll pay the higher prices but those prices are not reflected in the flavor of the food. I ordered the Bouilibase as it’s been on the menu since the 50’s. That should have been my first clue. Food has evolved since then and this dish has not. The stock was bland at best and portion of actual seafood was minimal but they gave you a gallon of the stock. My sister had their roasted chicken which was very good. I am still glad we went but for the money there are so many better place to go.

The ambiance is super special being one of the oldest restaurants in Barcelona. Service was exceptional with lots of delish choices on the menu.

Very “old school” + very fresh seafood! Old, charming warren of dining rooms. Excellent oysters w caviar, excellent chicken & seafood paella. Wonderful friendly staff. Reasonably priced.

We were recommended to attend the restaurant by friends, we saw and smelt the roast chickens in the window first thing in the morning and were really looking forward to our evening booking Xmas day!.., I was looking forward to an authentic Spanish seafood paella… my partner had the veggie paella!.. to be honest what was presented and what we saw and tasted was not what we were expecting!… it was both bland salty and too oily and grey!… if we went again I would probs go for the steak!… although there is a great deal of competition in both the Gothic quarter and Barcelona itself!…

The flavours were lacking in both the fish soup and paella mixta. It was either primarily salty or fishy. No other flavours came out of the food
