Jorge, owner of the iconic Peruvian restaurant, Los Balcones in Hollywood and Ricardo 'the godfather of Peruvian cuisine' both wanted to explore Mestizo cuisine and put a spotlight on Spanish and Peruvian flavors. Both being from Peru, Los Balcones in Studio City is extremely personal and highlights the several ingredients they both grew up surrounded by and enjoying every day.
With signature dishes such as their Seco de Pato, Quinotto and Costilla Short Ribs, Jorge and Ricardo want guests to explore the flavors of Mestizo cuisine together.

The food is so good. The service is amazing.
SHORT RIBS are so good.
Drinks are good as well. Pisco drink was good. Smooth and refreshing.
We loved our delicious cocktails & enjoyed every subsequent course!! So excited to have a “Westside” option in the valley. Well done!!
The restaurant is small and beautiful. Everyone was really nice and helpful. The food was amazing. Bloody Mary’s were perfect. I can’t wait to go back.
Very limited selection for way over-priced food. The waiter was nice but very difficult to understand. Also, we resented the 3% fee for employee health insurance.
Everything was absolutely delicious in this charming restaurant. Wait staff were very helpful guiding us through the menu and the shared plates were just the right size. Can't wait to go back.
A really fun place, with great atmosphere and tasty, interesting dishes. If they could just take a few bucks off the wine prices it would be perfect but 20% off on Weds eased the pain a little. Fabulous duck dish. The rib eye was pricey but excellent, Mushroom dish and tuna appetizer all 1st rate.
Food was just ok. Was a disappointment. Rosaline is far better.
Took my friends for a birthday celebration. The food was wonderful. So delicious.
The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. Helped us make great choices.
I highly recommend this lovely restaurant.
Most enjoyable restaurant I’ve been to, staff very knowledgeable and friendly.
Second time -- as good as the first. New fav -- and especially love that it is in the neighborhood!
It was a little quiet when I and a friend arrived at 6:45 but it was fairly full by the time we left. The food was excellent - easily the best and most tender octopus I've ever had and the preparation was extremely novel but very tasty with lots of new flavors. The duck two ways was done absolutely perfectly. The wine list is small but intelligent - the sparkling rose Samur we had was delicious with both courses. I'm going to have to remember to starve myself more before going so I can try more of their food. It's quite a good value as both the appetizer and entree' were each enough for two people.
Everything is wonderful except for the noise level. The chairs are now comfortable compared to the ones in the former restaurant, Gerasol. The food is delicious.
Our favorite new restaurant in the Valley. Absolutely delicious. Our new regular.
Best food in Los Angeles and the service is impeccable. The last time we ate here, we didn't see our food as well due to poor lighting placement. This time, the table we were seated at had a light that was focused right over our table and we were able to see the beautiful colors that were present in each dish. So, my only critic is for the restaurant is to have a light be focused on the center of each table so that guests can see the beautiful food presentations. It really does make a difference!
Had 830P res-We were told that we were next and people kept going in front of us..they actually asked us to trade with other patrons, the invisible table they were giving us.. We did not get either table!
We were patient and kept waiting. When we finally were sat at the exit door,(945P) we were still ok. Did not make a fuss, were happy to have table. We were hungry and asked for bread - "sorry out of bread", asked for a couple bourbons, they were out of them, and then we asked for diet coke and they were out of that also. At 10:15P we did not receive our meal and got up to leave. The waiter apologized and told us to take the food as it was finally ready. We declined. We did not go to get a free meal or drinks. We were excited to have a new restaurant in the neighborhood. It is pretty, and the people are nice, but we are disappointed in the service and didn't get a chance to taste the fool. They should have offered us an opportunity to come back and experience this place again, as their guests. It would have shown us that they are business people who value loyal patrons. Things happen, but this was handled amateurishly. I hope that this goes to the owners.
Lots of fun! At first I was concerned that this would be another hipsters hang out with so so food, good cocktails and so so service. All wrong. The kitchen is serious and the quality of ingredients are excellent. Also, the passion of the servers is evident. Be sure to try the octopus and the meat of the day.
The food is excellent! The service is just outstanding.
Very flavorful, unusual dishes. Lively ambiance. Energetic, attentive servor treated us extra special due to our daughter celebating her birthday.
An excellent meal. Will be back.
Delicious food, truly outstanding service.
Food was fantastic...but a little disappointing the menu was completely different from Hollywood location..wish they would make them a little more similar.
Fabulous food, great drinks, excellent service. The restaurant itself is nice and unlike so many restaurants it is blissfully quiet. You can have a normal conversation without shouting.
The waitstaff is very helpful and knowledgeable. They are visibly proud of the food and drinks they are serving. The only negative comment, it is pricey.
Delicious food and the service was awesome. I will be returning soon for sure!
Best food I’ve had in la for a very long time
We were so disappointed in the prices compared to the location in Hollywood. Although some of the same dishes were on the menu, the prices were almost double! The waiter claimed that there was a better cut of meat at Studio City but the portions were less and the price was ridiculous! I got a tiny bowl of rice, a miniature stack of fries and yes more meat but the overall effect of the lomo saltado was incredibly underwhelming for $33. The other dishes were pretentious and too fussy. Some good sauces but not worth the price.
Wonderful inventive food!
We had a wonderful early evening dining experience. We started with the oysters, prepared in a way I hadn’t had before (Uni Ponzu, Pop Quinoa, Charred Aji oil, 1/2 Dozen) and was so pleasantly surprised. At the waiters recommendation we tried the Ceviche Frito (Striped bass, Rocoto Leche de Tigre, Roasted Sweet Potato, Cancha Corn Chulpe).. wonderful. We split a steak special and pasta dish that were both delicious. They didn’t have a Pinot Noir but had a similar red, can’t remember the name but it was a lovely wine! Will definitely be returning!
Great food and great service. Would definitely go again.
Great good. Great service. They’re doing a great job.
Food and service were excellent. Creative, new-school approach to some classic Peruvian dishes. My only complaint was the noise and temperature inside the restaurant. Multiple tables had people shrieking at outrageous volumes. Don't know if that's the norm or not, but it made our dining experience quite uncomfortable. Also, it had to have been at least 85 degrees inside the restaurant. I want my food hot, not the restaurant.
Excellent interesting food, attentive and engaging service.
I coerced a group of friends to all go out to dinner Saturday night, and wow - am I glad I picked Los Balcones! The food was absolutely delicious (we ordered nearly everything on both the regular and vegan menu), and every dish was excellent. Our waiter was incredible - patient and kind, and paced our courses perfectly. The restaurant was packed, so it was loud and lively, but we were able to have great conversations and a great evening out. We brought our own wine ($25 corkage fee), which made the bill very reasonable.
Amazing food and service! Great atmosphere. Music was a bit on the loud side which always causes people to shout, so it got a bit hard to hear my date across the table at times.
Interesting food, a little heavy on the sauces like the octopus
Way way WAY overpriced. $33 for three strips of filet no bigger than clothespins? And then I'm asked to contribute to the employees' health plan? Am I not already doing so by paying $33 for what couldn't have cost the restaurant $5.
Fantastic experience - we loved Los Balcones in Hollywood but so happy they've opened in Studio City, closer to home. Food is phenomenal and service is warm and attentive.
Love this place. Everything delicious.
My daughter heard about the vegan menu finally being ready and had to try it. I’m so glad we did. It’s nothing short of amazing and delicious! We ordered both the entrees, as well as an appetizer and shared them. The service couldn’t have been friendlier. So happy to have Los Balcones in our neighborhood, within an easy walking distance! We’ll be back!
Astounding service. Food has been excellent and interesting but the menu is small.
The only problem with Los Balcones is the signage: from the outside it looks like one of the many Mexican restaurants in Studio City. Believe me, it is anything but your average restaurant, Mexican or otherwise. The decor inside is essentially the same as it was when the space was Girasol, which is to say quite inviting and modern at the same time. The food is on a par with some of the best restaurants in LA, specifically places like Bavel, Here's Looking at You, and other downtown LA spots. It is imaginative and delicious, well spiced but not hidden by heat or salt. I particularly recommend the octopus--perfectly cooked, and the quinoa risotto--simply delicious. The bread is not to be missed.
Drinks are well priced and generous; the wine list includes wines from Chile which I had never heard of but are now on my list of wines to buy.
The service is excellent. Whoever trained the wait staff did a wonderful job.
