Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Paco Moran

From the OpenTable editors: Aguachiles and ceviches are just the beginning of the seaworthy delights at Loreto, a sweeping, modern indoor-outdoor restaurant that transports you straight to the Mexican sea. Explore the menu that dives deep into the flavors of the California Peninsula: Think scallop tostadas with wasabi aioli and whole branzino served with black beans, rice, avocado, habanero onions, and mini quesadillas. Toast it all with an oyster-infused martini.

From the moment I walked through the doors, I knew I was in for something special. This restaurant isn't just a place to eat — it's a destination for anyone who truly appreciates exceptional food, warm hospitality, and an atmosphere that effortlessly blends comfort with elegance. The service was impeccable from start to finish. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. Each recommendation felt personalized and spot-on. Now, the food — absolutely extraordinary. Every dish was delicious. The ingredients were clearly fresh and thoughtfully sourced, and the presentation was stunning without feeling overdone. I could taste the care and creativity that went into every bite. From the appetizers to the desserts, there wasn't a single misstep. What truly set this place apart was the attention to detail, everything felt intentional and seamless. This isn’t just a restaurant — it’s an experience worth savoring and repeating. If you're looking for a place that exceeds expectations and leaves a lasting impression, look no further than Loreto. I can’t wait to return. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (If I could give it more stars, I would!)

The restaurant is located in a residential area and only offers valet parking. Otherwise, you’ll need to find street parking nearby. The host was very nice, but our server was not. When we began ordering, we had some questions about the menu. Instead of taking the time to explain the dishes or make any recommendations, our server told us to order everything at once and said she would course it out, all while we were still asking about the dishes. Her attitude caught me off guard, as I’ve never been treated like that at any other restaurant. For context, it wasn’t busy at the time we visited, around 6 PM on a Sunday. The food was okay, everything was extremely spicy and sour. However, we were hoping for a better overall experience, so don’t set your expectations too high.

Man beautiful quaint location, very lowkey and sophisticated ambiance. The service was top tier, our server Nikolai was exceptionally patient, attentive and helpful with suggestions on the menu. With that being said EVERYTHING was a hit! Not one thing missed. The oysters were fresh and the topping they offered provided a nice zing and kick to em. The Bang Bang Tostada was a hit! crispy creamy shrimp, the pickled onions offered a nice acidic flavor and balance with the jalapeño and herbs. The Aguachiles was amazing probably my favorite but I'm also a sucker for a fresh seafood, citrus and herb combo, paired really well with the saltine crackers they provided which surprised us cause we've never had Aguachiles with crackers. The Mar-Esquites was a nice take on a Los Angeles classic, packed with tons of shrimp and it wasn't too watery which sometimes I find esquites to be...twas bursting with flavor! The soft shell crab taco was OOZING with flavors! Get this, that's all I'm a say just over the top flavor town in my mouf. Then for the Milanesa the Wild Ling Cod was the star of the show hands down, but the Lobster Bouillabaisse was an Oscar award winning Supporting Role lord have mercy it was creamy, rich, and complimented the fish and potatoes with style and grace. I lowkey wanted to pack the leftover sauce up and take it home lmaoo. As for dessert we ordered two of their tried and true dishes, the Churros and the Merengue De Berries. The merengue was rich yet light and fluffy, and the fruit was an amazing touch. The churros were hot and not too sugary but didn't lack any sugar either, they were complimented with a Yuzu sauce...AMAZING! For all this food + great service the bill was about $200 but worth every penny. Top tier quality, service and vibes. We will be back! 100/10 LOVE!

This place is a great spot for seafood lovers, with plenty of fresh options that really hit the mark. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they also offer vegetarian and vegan dishes, which is a big plus if you’re dining with a diverse group. The vibe is nice for grabbing a drink, but we had a confusing experience when we first arrived—we asked for wine at the bar and were told they couldn’t serve it there. That didn’t make much sense, but thankfully we were able to order wine once we were seated at our table. The biggest downside, and something that really needs improvement, is the lack of changing tables in the restrooms. There were several families with kids, and it’s unacceptable that there’s no proper space to change a baby. We actually had to leave the restaurant to take care of it, which was really inconvenient. Overall, it’s a great spot for food and drinks, but not very family-friendly in terms of facilities
