We went there, as we have in the past, for a special occasion. In this case, we both had our 75th birthday within a few days. Everything was up to the standard we expected, so it was a special evening.
We found L"Opera to be a oasis of great food, served by a friendly staff and the whole experience made our evening a fantastic success.
The quality of the food is excellent, the service is professional and timely and it has that upscale Italian appearance and ambiance.
Wonderful place for dinner with family before walking to the Terrace theater.
Absolutely delicious! My daughter is a vegan and their selection of vegan options was amazing for an Italian restaurant. The food was fresh, the flavors intense, and the presentation and service impeccable.
A definite must in Long Beach!
My Sisters, Cousin and I were in town for a conference on Saturday. I recommended La Opera for our dinner on Friday night. It was a of theit first night there. We arrived and were seated at a perfect table. Our waitperson was spot on with her service. We all ordered different entrees. I sent a note to my group about our experience. All voted 10 out of 10. We ordered the lemon dessert which was perfection
Great service and ambiance, good location and great food
Wonderful! Great food and service. A gentleman singing in Italian was ads a very nice touch!
Our friend told us it was an amazing place, and it was very good, but just not “all that.”
We have been dining at L'Opera about once a year for the last 30 years. We always ask our server for his/her food recommendations and have yet to be disappointed. Trust them for a wine pairing and order wine for each course. It's worth it! (Share a glass as we always do!) You will be served in the leisurely and unhurried Italian-style, so let them know if you're on a schedule.
A great place to dine. Our server April was outstanding and made our day for us. Highly recommend this restaurant!!👍🏿👍🏿
We celebrated my mom's 85th birthday and it was a memorable evening. The food and service were exceptional. There was an opera singer in the restaurant who was kind enough to sing happy birthday in Italian to my mom, which she loved. The whole evening was very special and we look forward to returning soon.
Our first time eating here and the night went off without a hitch. Service was top notch! The food was prepared with excellence. We were even given a table that presented as more of a private booth. As this was a special occasion, they were nice enough to present us with a couple little dessert extras as a gift. Nicely played!! To be honest, this isn't a cheap night out but with it being a special occasion for us, there wasn't an unexpected bill at the end of the evening. We will be back.
Great food and great location with charming atmosphere
It had been many years since my wife and I had been to L'Opera, maybe about 12 years ago. I've been wanting to go back but I couldn't remember if we liked the place or not. Below is a brief explanation of our meal.
My wife had the beef medallions and roasted potatoes and I had the ragu lasagna. My lasagna was good and it came out sufficiently hot. My wife's plate on the other hand looked like it had sat under a heat lamp for an hour. The potatoes on my wife's plate were not warm and they looked soggy. Her meat was cooked to her liking, and despite the good flavor, the steak was luke warm. I don't think we will be going back.
Went for a late Valentine’s dinner date and was absolutely amazed by the service and overall experience! Thank you guys!
Our server had too many table to take care of so our service was very slow.
One of our favorite restaurants, we travel from the Antelope Valley to have dinner at else once or twice a year, Outstanding service, the food is excellent, looking forward till the next time.
Always worth the experience! Great food, great service, great place overall!
Valentines
The only reason for giving the ambiance a 3 score was the singer they used to give the place a little atmosphere for Valentine's Day. I'm sure she meant well but she sang loud enough for a 50,000 seat stadium. It was un-nerving to say the least. We were actually tempted to tip her NOT to sing. A roving guitarist would have been much more appropriate.
We had our wedding reception here 22 years ago. So my husband took me here for Valentine’s Day. Food was fantastic. Hostess was very friendly. Our waiter was not the best but it was a very busy night. Just think he was overwhelmed
The food never disappoints!! I look forward to it all year too! The service is always very professional as well. One of the best places to dine.
L'Opera is one of our favorite restaurants. Location on old bank building is beautiful. Food always is excellent.
Valentine’s Day
When we arrived they tried to seat us in basement. When we requested seats on main floor they resisted saying all othe tables on main floor were reserved. We made reservation more than 2 months in advance and were not notified we had to reserve seats in main dining hall. Finally they accommodated us. Our server was nice enough and took our orders. The server described the swordfish special and one member of our party was told they ran out of the order bringing a different selection, red snapper to the table attempting to substitute without asking first. Our guest changed orders and and tha dish was brought out quickly so we could eat together.
The special meal was comped as it should have been for all the hassle. It’s doubtful we would choose L’opera again for ant occasion.
Seated on time. Good room between tables. Noise level was quite good. Food was very good.
It’s been one of my favorite places to go ! Love the menu selection, vibe, and the energy. A great place to go on Friday and Saturday nights and actually hear Sam sing opera from table to table.
The food was good
We ordered wine, recommended by waiter, he comes back 15 min later out of stock, then he recommended another one so we ordered it, and again came back 10 min later it was out of stock too
So finally got a bottle, it took a while to get food it was good....never said oh free dessert or something else
I think just that waiter, everything was just fine
To sum it up, CREATIVE Italian Fine dining. Menu appears to have the usual suspects, but in reality many are prepared with a unique twist. Service was friendly and efficient.
We had a wonderful lunch and will always return. The server was terrific!
Very nice staff. Good wine. Only drawback- seated right next to another couple in a relatively empty room. Very nice overall.
A true gastronomic experience with a stunning ambiance that gave the feel of being in Italy. The Carpaccio and the Fresh Pastas were exceptional! We will be back to visit again when in Long Beach.
It was our first time here. The ambiance is lovely. Reminds of New York restaurants, where I'm originally from. The waiter was attentive until the crowd starting arriving. We were all there because we were going to the same event at the Long Beach Terrace Theater on a Sunday. I even saw people at the next table who were waiting a very long time for their waiter to take their order. We started with a Caesar salad. It was OK and very small for $14! I had their version of Eggplant Rollatini. It was OK, but not what I am accustomed to. Instead of Riccotta cheese stuffing, they called it Tofu "Riccotta". There was literally 1 small square piece of Tofu in each rollatini. So insignificant that you wouldn't know it was there! Dessert was the best part of the meal...profiteroles! I would go back again to try other choices they offer.
The service was very dismal, we arrived at 5.45 for dinner left at 7.30 with no time for desert as we were going to the theater. Waiter had no time for our table, a bit rude at times.
This was our 1st time dining at L'Opera. Very ambiance was very good and the food also was very good.
Our only complaint was the service of lack thereof. Part of our pre dinner drink was a coke. A cocktail arrived and iced teas but when after 30' we asked for the coke the server appoligised and stated the had to replace the soda machine. 30' after ordering our meals the waiter came back and informed us that they were out of one of our entre's. When we recieved our check we waited 15' for the waiter to return and pick it up. Probably will not return since we are rarely in that area.
Perfect for a date night and the food was delicious!
Excellent meals, supplemented by live opera. Very nice evening for an exceptional experience
L'Opera is one of my favorite for many reasons. The ambiance, service and food are just over the top. The never miss an opportunity to exceed your expectations. Thanks a million for a great celebration and dinner with friends.
Classic ambiance and decor with an updated menu. Lot's of options for healthy eating, too. Service is extremely traditional and superb. Very professional waiter.
I usually receive excellent service and good food at L'Opera, but Sunday was an exception. The food was way off the mark--I ordered the special, the halibut ($37), which was cooked beyond recognition. It was hard, touch and honestly, difficult to eat. The service was attentive, but the evening was marred by the overcooked (pre-cooked?) fish. There were several large parties there that night, so perhaps that influenced the cooking schedules. Even though the food was sub-par, I'll probably go there again at least once since I've had good experiences there before.
