One of our favorite restaurants, we travel from the Antelope Valley to have dinner at else once or twice a year, Outstanding service, the food is excellent, looking forward till the next time.
The only reason for giving the ambiance a 3 score was the singer they used to give the place a little atmosphere for Valentine's Day. I'm sure she meant well but she sang loud enough for a 50,000 seat stadium. It was un-nerving to say the least. We were actually tempted to tip her NOT to sing. A roving guitarist would have been much more appropriate.
We had our wedding reception here 22 years ago. So my husband took me here for Valentine’s Day. Food was fantastic. Hostess was very friendly. Our waiter was not the best but it was a very busy night. Just think he was overwhelmed
The food never disappoints!! I look forward to it all year too! The service is always very professional as well. One of the best places to dine.
L'Opera is one of our favorite restaurants. Location on old bank building is beautiful. Food always is excellent.
When we arrived they tried to seat us in basement. When we requested seats on main floor they resisted saying all othe tables on main floor were reserved. We made reservation more than 2 months in advance and were not notified we had to reserve seats in main dining hall. Finally they accommodated us. Our server was nice enough and took our orders. The server described the swordfish special and one member of our party was told they ran out of the order bringing a different selection, red snapper to the table attempting to substitute without asking first. Our guest changed orders and and tha dish was brought out quickly so we could eat together.
The special meal was comped as it should have been for all the hassle. It’s doubtful we would choose L’opera again for ant occasion.
Seated on time. Good room between tables. Noise level was quite good. Food was very good.
It’s been one of my favorite places to go ! Love the menu selection, vibe, and the energy. A great place to go on Friday and Saturday nights and actually hear Sam sing opera from table to table.
The food was good
We ordered wine, recommended by waiter, he comes back 15 min later out of stock, then he recommended another one so we ordered it, and again came back 10 min later it was out of stock too
So finally got a bottle, it took a while to get food it was good....never said oh free dessert or something else
I think just that waiter, everything was just fine
To sum it up, CREATIVE Italian Fine dining. Menu appears to have the usual suspects, but in reality many are prepared with a unique twist. Service was friendly and efficient.
We had a wonderful lunch and will always return. The server was terrific!
Very nice staff. Good wine. Only drawback- seated right next to another couple in a relatively empty room. Very nice overall.
A true gastronomic experience with a stunning ambiance that gave the feel of being in Italy. The Carpaccio and the Fresh Pastas were exceptional! We will be back to visit again when in Long Beach.
It was our first time here. The ambiance is lovely. Reminds of New York restaurants, where I'm originally from. The waiter was attentive until the crowd starting arriving. We were all there because we were going to the same event at the Long Beach Terrace Theater on a Sunday. I even saw people at the next table who were waiting a very long time for their waiter to take their order. We started with a Caesar salad. It was OK and very small for $14! I had their version of Eggplant Rollatini. It was OK, but not what I am accustomed to. Instead of Riccotta cheese stuffing, they called it Tofu "Riccotta". There was literally 1 small square piece of Tofu in each rollatini. So insignificant that you wouldn't know it was there! Dessert was the best part of the meal...profiteroles! I would go back again to try other choices they offer.
The service was very dismal, we arrived at 5.45 for dinner left at 7.30 with no time for desert as we were going to the theater. Waiter had no time for our table, a bit rude at times.
This was our 1st time dining at L'Opera. Very ambiance was very good and the food also was very good.
Our only complaint was the service of lack thereof. Part of our pre dinner drink was a coke. A cocktail arrived and iced teas but when after 30' we asked for the coke the server appoligised and stated the had to replace the soda machine. 30' after ordering our meals the waiter came back and informed us that they were out of one of our entre's. When we recieved our check we waited 15' for the waiter to return and pick it up. Probably will not return since we are rarely in that area.
Perfect for a date night and the food was delicious!
Excellent meals, supplemented by live opera. Very nice evening for an exceptional experience
L'Opera is one of my favorite for many reasons. The ambiance, service and food are just over the top. The never miss an opportunity to exceed your expectations. Thanks a million for a great celebration and dinner with friends.
Classic ambiance and decor with an updated menu. Lot's of options for healthy eating, too. Service is extremely traditional and superb. Very professional waiter.
I usually receive excellent service and good food at L'Opera, but Sunday was an exception. The food was way off the mark--I ordered the special, the halibut ($37), which was cooked beyond recognition. It was hard, touch and honestly, difficult to eat. The service was attentive, but the evening was marred by the overcooked (pre-cooked?) fish. There were several large parties there that night, so perhaps that influenced the cooking schedules. Even though the food was sub-par, I'll probably go there again at least once since I've had good experiences there before.
I had the cioppino and my associate had lobster-stuffed ravioli in a pesto cream sauce. Both were excellent.
Such a lovely place. Staff was awesome, food was fantastic, and the Italian singer blew me away! Worth every penny to visit!! Can’t wait to go back!
Even after almost 30 yrs, this restaurant delivers on quality and atmosphere. We had a delightful server that enhanced our visit catering to our individual needs and tastes. A few years back we had a less than stellar experience, but it seems the mgmt has self-corrected and. The restaurant is as good as it once was when it opened. We’ll be back as the location in downtown Long Beach is easily accessible
Food was awful and flavorless
The staff were great. The food was delicious. The alcohol beverages were effective. We had an outstanding experience.
L'Opera is always a delightful treat! The food is delicious and our regular waiter Alfredo is the best. The only reason I didn't rate the ambiance higher is because there were workers there taking down decorations and it was very distracting. We were nervous about stuff falling and the giant ladder hitting something. Nothing happened while we were there, but we were riveted on that action.
It seems the Restaurant keeping his images, and everything else, the food was good and the waiters are very good trained, I been in this restaurant 30 years ago, I use to work in Long Beach and every Friday night I use to visit the restaurant
Although it was New Years eve with high occupancy we were treated warmly with exceptional service. The party was great fun well hosted.
We went on New Year's eve and had a delicious meal. It was an understandably busy night so our dishes took a while to come out. Our server was ok, not very personable. The busser was great and attentive though. Our meals were flavorful and great quality. For the food alone, we will return.
New Years Eve early dinner. It was excellent although even with a reservation we waited 25 minutes to be seated. The volume was difficult but understandable it was a special evening.
We really enjoyed L"Opera for dinner on New Year's Eve. We didn't attend the party, but we enjoyed all the decorations, balloons, etc. And the singer! Wow, what a voice!
Food was delicious.
The restaurant was a short walk from our hotel, very convenient.
Most amazing dining experience ever!!
One of my favorite restaurants in Long Beach. Never disappoints. Pricy but worth it. There's a new dish on the menu. Don't remember the Italian name but it's veal cheek meat that's cooked for 24 hours and smothered with a chunky tomato sauce. It cuts with a fork and melts in your mouth. A winner! A nice touch at dinner is the fantastic strolling opera singer.
Excellent dining experience starting with the prosciutto appetizer to the filets and pasta dishes. Paired well with an Italian red recommended by our outstanding server Scott. Their Happy Hour is also one of the best in LB.
Our initial greeting from the host was very welcoming. She had wished the guest of honor happy birthday as we were walking to our table. Our server, who had never given her name to us, nor asked us how were doing thiat evening, nor wished a happy birthday, comes to our table and simply asks if she could get us anything to drink. Dinner progresses and food is ok. For being a higher end Italian restaurant I expected the flavors to really wow us. The homemade ravioli with gorgonzola cream sauce was your only winner on the table. Dessert comes a long and we get nothing to represent the guests Birthday. No comp for the dessert not even a candle. Mind you, we were only a two top. Our server gets busy with the typical dinner rush and a manager drops off our bill. We pay and head out the door and our only thank you and have a good night was from where it all began. The hostess.
We enjoyed our meal and our waiter was excellent!! What more can one ask for?
The food was delicious and our waiter helped us pick out a great chardonnay to go with it. Our favorite restaurant.
Excellent restaurant, go there every year Christmas Eve
Exception in all ways. Had no idea Long Beach had such a gem.
