Longway Tavern
Longway is a tavern that still views New Orleans’ French Quarter as a neighborhood. We are a third place for everyone living, working, and playing in the French Quarter-a casual spot with an open-air courtyard where you can grab a bite and a beer before heading off to other destinations, have dinner, or to savor a nightcap when the party is winding down. Our menu offers creative twists on nostalgic tavern fare, while Liam Deegan’s cocktails give the same treatment to the French Quarter classics that we all grew up drinking.

This meal very quickly broke into our Top 10 lifetime dining experiences. Then the Top 5. And by the time we had to *tap out of the ‘feed me’ menu* it was securely in the Top 3, with possible status as a best ever. The ambiance with the Miracle pop-up was awesome, and the specialty cocktails they had to celebrate were fantastic. Every dish the kitchen sent out was better than the last: “cheese and crackers,” crab claws, squash pancake, roasted broccoli, oysters, sweet potatoes, pork belly, and mille feuille. We even got a “Nice” shot to cap things off. The food was consistently inventive and exciting while still being exceptional in flavor and execution. That combination is extremely rare, even in a city known for its restaurant scene. The wait staff was attentive without being intrusive, and the energetic atmosphere was just right for a meal during the social season. Getting seated next to Twerking Santa was lagniappe. Can’t wait to go back. Will absolutely do the tasting menu again, but will fast beforehand and wear my stretchy pants. I really can’t recommend this restaurant enough: the kitchen is doing fantastic work, and front-of-house completed the experience. Definitely reserve a table if you can get one. You won’t be sorry.
We went for the Miracle Pop Up. The drinks were good. We expected more decorations but what they had was cute.
Excellent - super fun tavern atmosphere with a surprisingly fancy and out m-of-this-world delicious menu.
We thought the Miracle pop up was lame. Food was good but service & ambiance was meh. It was cold inside & the heat lamps weren’t on outside.
I want to be frank that the five star rating is more of an encouragement, because the dishes were a bit hit or miss.
However, I want to applaud the chef for taking risks, especially in New Orleans, a city where everyone values traditions so much.
Foodwise, the beef tartare on a crispy base is the most impressive dish I had in a while. Highly recommend.
In this type of creative fine dining-ish property, I'd say the "feed me" option is the way to go.
Service was very friendly; you can tell these people are passionate about the food they are presenting, and that is very moving.
A bit on the overpriced side (no particular expensive material, and not so elegant and a bit cramped space).
Overall, it's a yes from me. But I think some of the flavor profiles need some re-thinking.
Bestie was in town and I had to show her one of my favorite spots!!
We had a great time. We went for the Feed Me option where the kitchen just plans our meal. It was awesome. We will do this again next time we are out.
Perfect in every way!
Fantastic experience. Amazing service and the chef’s table was a treat!
Exceptionally modern and creative. My foodie friends who travel the world were very happy.
However, we all agreed the shrimp salad was a total miss (no one could detect any shrimp flavor nor bits of shrimp — it's almost like they goofed making it and forgot to add them. Seemingly all egg). Sadly, the group talked about this for two days. It's the main thing they recalled.
But, we all agreed the squash pancake, oyster lettuce cups, chicken liver, buttermilk grits, and crab claws were outstanding! The home fries (crispy!!!) and cheese and crackers were also good. Calamari noodles were interesting but under seasoned.
Service was impeccable and friendly. Nice patio setting (dined outdoors).
Noticeably clean and large restrooms.
We'd go back!
Very good time in this very simple bar setting, finding a great and quality selection of drinks but before all absolutely excellent local food!
This restaurant is wonderful! The food was absolutely delicious, imaginative, creative, and beautifully presented. We can’t wait to return.
Wonderful experience. The food was as terrific as the ambiance. Great way to spend our final night in New Orleans!
Excellent food and wonderful experience. Highly recommend!!
Loved the grits and special cocktails. Everyone was friendly and very helpful!
We chose “Feed Me” from the menu, and the kitchen served us what they wanted us to eat! Everything was wonderful and each course was accompanied by someone from the kitchen who presented it to us. Highly recommend this. It was an incredible experience.
Enjoyed the evening! Venue was fantastic but seating inside was tight. We squeezed 3 people into a 2 person booth, which for a business meal could be awkward. A lot of the dishes didn’t come out as expected but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Enjoyed their creative take on traditional dishes. Cocktails were delicious!
Food here was out of this world. Hidden gem, we will definitely be back!!
Great atmosphere! We really enjoyed the unique drinks & dishes!! The staff was so great with my toddler, even though i’m sure they don’t get a ton of kids.
Don't let the small, simple looking menu fool you. Every dish on that menu is amazing. Their drinks are perfectly well balanced, and I love the ambiance of the location.
Living Uptown, we don't make it into the Quarter all that often and when we do, we're always looking for places with good drinks and good food that aren't too touristy or too formal. Longway fits the bill on all counts and it's right between Bourbon and Royal. I am also personally pleased to see that they have great desserts (seriously, too many places make magnificent starters and entrees but then phone it in with a lackluster bread pudding, crème brulée and ice cream).
Everything was amazing. The bartender recommended great cocktails and the ambience was beautiful. My favorite thing I ate was the watermelon salad. I hate watermelon and cucumber, but this made me second guess that. Loved it all!
All dishes that were served had so much flavor and pop. This was my first time here and I was blown away.
Fried squash, and butter chicken. Both very good. The waitress was friendly and accommodating. Drinks were made well and priced right. Would recommend and would go back.
Always a great experience. Amazing food, amazing drinks, and a wonderful dinner time atmosphere. So much fun, as usual.
Delicious dinner in the courtyard. Perfect evening
We were recommended this place by a couple people. We saw our server once and that was it. There is definitely way better food in New Orleans.
Great food, great drinks, great service. Amazing courtyard
One of my favorite new comers to the French Quarter, serving late night shared plates, with a full bar. Come for a small intimate meal, or get their "one of everything" (a steal at $199), for a large party. Expect a gorgeous, yet unpretentious space, welcoming, knowledgeable staff and outstanding food and cocktails that never disappoint!
Longway Tavern is one of our favorite go to places when we want to share small plates of inventive and delicious food. We highly recommend it.
Meal was amazing. Drinks were fantastic. Hospitality on point. Love this place, and will keep coming back.
One of our favourite places in New Orleans! Food, service and setting perfect. The courtyard is like a little oasis.
Perfect place to grab a bite in the French Quarter. The outside patio is beautiful! We had the roasted squash as a starter, its a must have. We also had the chop salad and the fried calamari which were both excellent portions for shared plates. Service was outstanding. Longway Tavern is a fun, casual place with great food, we'll be back.
Everything we had was phenomenal. And we literally had everything. Alex and the entire serving staff were on point. We sat in the courtyard and it was a perfectly magical evening. Can’t wait to return!
Food was great, server had a poor attitude (young guy who did not seem to want to be there)
Chicken Cutlet sandwich amazing!
Took a glutten free friend there for the bolognese and she was in love with it!
Our best meal on a recent trip to NOLA! Try the pina colada with rum and green chartreuse. We had a bunch of veggie dishes... they happily accommodate vegetarians: creamed peas with crispy panko, chopped salad (soooo good), radishes with butter and salt, and a side of amazing grilled bread, fried acorn squash with a Korean spice breading and homemade ranch. Every bite was more delicious than the last. Our server Allison was amazing and every person we interacted with was delightful and helpful. Beautiful patio. You can buy a 6er for the kitchen staff for $6 (menu item), which obv we did. They kindly reciprocated with a gift from the kitchen: Fried potatoes with creme Fraiche. Perfectly cooked and so sweet. I want to come back to NOLA just to eat here again!
Fantastic Experience!
This was one of the highlights of our trip!
The food and drinks were outstanding! Loved all of the choices!
We went for my partner's birthday, and it was everything we hoped for and more. Great food. Large but manageable and shareable portions. GREAT ATMOSPHERE - we ate out back in the courtyard, and it was the perfect setting for a date dinner. She loved it. Definitely lived up to its reputation and hype. We will return.
Excellent place. Great food, great atmosphere and Quiet! Love it
