Longhi's - Wailea Ratings and Reviews
We love this place, always return when in Wailea both for breakfast and dinner. Food is great. The cinnamon roll at breakfast is fantastic and their fresh fish at dinner is always delicious. My only complaint is they should ask if you want nuts piled on certain dishes and, although the bread they serve is delicious, half has jalapeño peppers on it. Not everyone loves that.
The food was ok, we selected this spot because we had eaten here the last time we visited Maui. There wasn't this wow factor to the food, the waiter was very evasive, not too attentive, not that we wanted hovering, but just an occasional check in on us. There's potential to be great but as of now, I probably will not come back.
We were a bit apprehensive at first, but our server, Tamara, who is one f the best, friendliest we've ever had, put us at ease with her warm and friendly nature. She gave us great service and her suggestions were great, as it turned out. We had the seafood platter for 2. For what we got, it is all we needed as it was plenty big for the two of us. Tamara advised us that we wouldn't need an appetizer (since we asked) and we had no room for desert.
I want to go back as I went in with my mind set on the Ahi au Poivre.
Great service and atmosphere. In a mall but the outdoor seating gets the ocean breezes. Our server Richard was tremendous. Our favorite dish is the Lobster Longhi which is seafood slightly spicy with lots of linguini. Can feed four!!! Our tenth visit in the last fifteen years; always a treat!!!
We were very disappointed with the food. The best part of the meal was the complementary pizza bread they bring you when you first sit down. We ordered an over priced artichoke appetizer which was flavorless and undercooked. For our entrees we both ordered chicken prepared piccata style and Mediterranean style. Both chicken dishes were served over cooked and tough, over sauced and luke warm. I am mad at myself for not sending both dishes back but by this point we were angry, disappointed and ready to leave. My wife wanted pasta noodles instead of mashed potatoes with her dish and we were charged an additional $6 for the substitution. When we made the reservation I had indicated this was a anniversary celebration dinner. There was no mention of this special occasion during our entire visit. There are hundreds of dining options on Maui. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
We were there to celebrate my husband's mother's 83rd birthday. There were 5 of us, including his brother and wife from Texas, with reservations made for 5:30 via Open Table. Peter was our server and he was excellent. Very attentive and engaging, and knowledgeable about the menu. We all selected the fixed price menu, 4 steaks and one shrimp Longhi, and everyone loved their meal. The appetizer pizza was great, just the right size for all of us. Ice tea, sparkling water and bar drinks were all good. Tiramasu was very good. Peter brought a candle with the birthday girl's dessert, very nice. She's not an easy one to warm up, but she did!
In all, a very enjoyable experience, and we'll definitely be back!
We each of 4 had different meals. I had Longhi salad & sashimi. Friends had mussels & Longhi Longhi salad & clams. My husband had bolognese sauce on linguine. Our server was outstanding. Cannot remember her name but she's from Portland & was very well informed & pleasant.
Longhi's was always our flavour place for a casual dinner, breakfast or special celebration every time we are in Maui. There's no difference for this time that we decided to go there for another casual dinner before leaving Maui. We found that the food was just ok and the presentation of food was terrible. My husband ordered a pasta dish. The food was like a food court taste dish, also the pasta was served in a plain stainless bowl. It looked like a bowl that I used for my dog. My lobster cannelloni tasted better than my husband's pasta. Again, the presentation was on a plain white plate which just big enough for the cannelloni. Terrible. We walked in with high expectations like other year we visited this restaurant, however, We were very disappointed 😔
We ordered veal scallopini and chicken piccatta. Both were deep fried and disgusting. We asked to see a manager, he came over and apologized that we didnt like it....both dishes are sauteed not deep fried and both had the same sauce..horrible he said dinner was covered and we left. Should have known something was up, restaurant had about 6 people in it.
We were there for lunch, the seafood pasta was really nice, and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It's a really relaxing and down to earth place. Highly recommended, especially after a few days of Michelin-style lunch/dinner.
Anniversary. No special attention. Not many customers. Service was good and attentive but waiters switched without notice. Food was good. Been coming to Longhi's for many years. But seemed to be getting dated and food changes a little bit each year. But we own a longhis cookbook and cut from it at home often so like to check in and see how doing.
Longhi's is one of our favorite spots on Maui that makes us always feel comfortable and welcome.
We visited the original Longhi's in Lahaina in 1983 -- it was 2 cuts above the local burger and pizza joints of that era, while never being pretentious (hey, it was Maui, not Manhattan).
I think the Wailea store still rides that line - somewhere between neighborhood favorite and upscale eatery where you can still show up in shorts and sandals.
First, Longhi's pizza bread is unrivaled on the planet.
Our veggie-pescatarian teen daughter's friend loved the lobster Mac and Cheese, while she reveled in ahi sushi and a massive and sumptuous steamed artichoke. My wife and I shared a Greek salad (which seemed a little short on Feta) and a supple Ahi puttanesca.
Service was professional but a tad slow, but we attributed this to a couple large parties on the main patio.
All in all a delicious and satisfying evening!
Waitress was very friendly. My wife's lobster risotto was excellent. My fish of the day (some type of Hawaiian white fish) was so so ...over cooked and portion was very small. No side potato, rice or veggie offered or included. French press coffee was great as was their after homemade ice cream.
