Longhi's - Lahaina Ratings and Reviews
This used to be one of Lahaina’s best restaurants. Not anymore. The menu at the entrance tells you what used to be, the menu inside leaves many dishes off. The artichoke came with loads of soupy sauce. The waiter brought us the wrong salad. The fish of the day was mediocre. The put a gob of awful risotto on the entree plate.
The upstairs with the great view was closed due to lack of business. Tells you they no longer have their act together for dinner. Breakfast is reportedly still good. We might try that But we won’t return for dinner..
Would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. The only good thing I can say is that we showed up prior to our reservation time and were seated right away. From there it was all downhill.
We sat at our table for a good 10 minutes before anyone brought over any water. Another 5 - 10 minutes went by and I finally asked who our waiter was and if they were going to stop by our table anytime soon. The waiter that came to our table walked by us multiple times and looked directly at our table as we sat for those 20 minutes. When he came over he asked if we had been helped yet. Obviously not since we are at your table, you had not been over yet, and someone had to tell you to help us.
Took our order right away since we had ample time to review the menu. As we were waiting we noticed the table next to us had received bread. We has to ASK for bread to be brought over. Our apps and entrees were then brought out at the same time...what??? By the time I got to my entree it was lukewarm so I cannot say whether the fish was good or not, but probably not much better hot is what I suspect. Oh and that bread I asked for came out after all this.
My fiancee asked for a refill on his soda, which I will say was brought out quickly. However, when I looked at the bill I saw that I was charged for 2 sodas (one regular and one diet). I asked my fiancee if his second soda tasted different and he said yes but thought it was just flat. Nope...our waiter brought diet instead of regular and charged me for his mistake.
Service sucked and food was mediocre at best. Definitely not worth the over $100 that the meal cost. I've had many many better meals for the same price or even less. The restaurant was not even that busy as there were many empty table around us and empty seats at the bar. I would definitely never go back or recommend it to anyone.
Nice place that's been around for awhile. Right on the main drag in Lahaina. My first visit and I was underwhelmed. Prices are way too high for food and cocktails!!! It was a pleasant enough experience, but I probably won't return. Just too pricey for what you get.
Altogether very good. Wait staff including bussing was excellent and very competent. Food was delicious. Valet parking very convenient and free. But please tip the attendant. Kind of noisy at street level, especially when motor bikes pass by. No A/C which on a warm muggy evening is “ inconvenient “
Food was all over-sauced, mojitos had finely chopped mint that came up the straw, clams were tiny and smelled odd, crab cake was closer to tuna melt, salads appeared pre made, risotto was mushy, catch of the day was mushy and swimming in sauce.
Manager did adjust bill but we were still disappointed.
Great food, wonderful service and a spectacular view! My wife started with a watermelon and greens salad. It was a little tart for her. I had delicious calamari to start with. We both had the Monchong for the main course with ever so slightly different preparations. Mine had the tomato mixture over it and she tried it with grapes. Both were very good. We split a piece of macadamia nut pie ala mode! It was outstanding!!
Food and service was just awful! Our waitress had no clue about the menu. We asked her what kind of sauces they had and she said uh we have red. What?!?! She said sorry I work breakfast not dinner. Seriously how hard is it to know what kind of sauces that they offer. She brings our dinner and its wrong. When they bring the bolognese it was just awful. It tasted like bbq sauce. The watermelon/feta salad had barely any watermelon it was just lots of arugula. My husband had the salmon which was overcooked. We were done with dinner and the waitress just brings us the bill. She never asked if we wanted coffee, dessert or even another drink. And the restaurant is outdated just run down. I wish we went back to Lahaina Grill for the third time of our 10 day stay. Dont waste your money here. So many other restaurants on Front street.
Longhi's is one of our favorite spots for breakfast. Their eggs Benedict is amazing! Tried it this time on a bed of their wonderful fried brkfst potatos. The food is fresh and they have a good variety. Daily Quiches and Frittatas and "to die for" coconut pancakes. Always on our list when we come to Maui!
I love Longhi's for the atmosphere, the view, the service and food. My favorite is the Greek salad. I have memories of a Greek salad from years ago and I always wanted to go back and have another one and they never disappoint. This trip we arrived before the sunset and watched the sunset over a glass of champagne. Dinner was delicious.
We sat in the sun filled ocean view dining room downstairs, our server Titus was outstanding, friendly, knowledgeable and very professional, with just the two of us dining he put out a few suggestions and we had multiple tastes on the table for our appetizers, the lobster longhi we split for our entree was fantastic! Enough for 4 !!! We are fans, will be back often.
Not what we remembered...
We've been to Maui a half dozen times and have eaten at Longhi's Lahaina or at the Shops at Wailea nearly every trip. Always have enjoyed both and had good food, fair to average service and an enjoyable time. Don't know if things have changed in Lahaina, but boy, were we extremely disappointed this time. The catch of the day was dry, pasta bowls were disappointing with minimal flavor, and the cheesecake was awful (the fruit on top was like a gelatin mold). Fair service didn't add to the experience. The one bright spot was the macadamia nut pie (think pecan pie) - it was delicious. We'll definitely be watching future reviews to see if Longhi's deserves another try on future trips to Maui.
Not a great experience. The food was cold and improperly cooked. For the price point they are charging, it should be on point. My prime rib was well done vs the med I ordered. Mashed potatoes were cold and the carrots and green beans were undercooked. My wife's Chicken piccata was brought with all the piccata sauce on the side. It was not cooked in the sauce. When we asked the waiter if this was correct he said the chicken is usually sautéed in the sauce, then walked off. The orzo was an overlooked pile of mush.
We went back for nostalgia. Second floor dining was closed so we had to sit downstairs which was crowded and noisy by the bar. The food was fine although the vegetables served in the risotto were canned or frozen. They seemed more in style for a cafeteria rather than in a fine dining restaurant!
The service was excellent!!
Longhi's was recommended by a friend. We had a lovely breakfast of French toast and eggs. The open windows overlooked the ocean and the constant comings and goings of people on Front street. Our waitress Dalia was attentive and served us well. We enjoyed our breakfast at Longhi's. On our next visit to Maui we'd love to try Longh's for dinner.
