Longhi's - Lahaina Ratings and Reviews
We’ve been coming to Longhi’s for over 40 years. Food is always excellent (although they took Longhi’s Shrimp off the menu but our server made it happen). The reason I couldn’t give them 5 stars throughout was because they were “out” of Crown Royal. Seriously?? My husband had deferred his evening cocktail planning to have a Crown (only thing he will drink) at the restaurant. The manager did comp him a Pinot Gris at my suggestion, but he doesn’t even care for wine and only drank half of it I really think it’s totally unacceptable for a restaurant to be out of Anerica’s most popular whiskey. The ABC next door has Crown, guess we should have brought in our own bottle. The other downside was that we weren’t told it was “Jazz night” when we made the reservation. Even seated as far from the band as possible it was so loud we couldn’t have a conversation. Longhi’s is my birthday tradition and if it hadn’t been for that we probably would have gone elsewhere.
The pizza bread and my salad with the vinaigrette were excellent as was our macadamia nut pecan pie. My salmon entree with a mixture of capers and kalamata olives was very disappointing. The salmon with its toppings was slightly over cooked, and was literally swimming in olive oil,
drowning out any other flavor. My wife ordered the mussels in marinara sauce which
I sampled was fairly good, but not great. Both entrees were overpriced given their quality. Contrary to some reviews I read beforehand, our service was excellent. Although my choice as to whether or not I would recommend Longhi ‘s was limited to a yes or no, I would give it a “maybe.”
What a disappointment! Longhi has deteriorated over the last few years and is no longer a Maui gem. We were there on Thanksgiving day for dinner. The place was half empty but the service was very slow and the unfriendly staff seemed disinterested and bored. The food seemed to come from a cafeteria kitchen with lousy presentation. My wife's salmon came with nothing (!) (what about a little pasta?). My shrimp dinner consisted of 4 unpeeled shrimps resting on a little heap of rice without any garnishing. Combined with no ambiance this was a total waste.
We have enjoyed Longhi’s in Lahaina and Wailea in the past, but it appears the Lahaina site has lost some of its luster. Granted our reservation was for Thanksgiving Day so the restaurant was busy. Unfortunately for our 6:30 pm reservation many of the popular entrees were already unavailable. The thanksgiving meal was clearly old and has probably been prepared hours earlier and a Medium Rare steak had to be sent back twice to get it close to temperature. We were billed for drinks that never arrived and were eventually cancelled from the order since it took so long to arrive (yet they were still on the bill). Overall the experience was unfortunate as we expected Longhi’s to be our signature and special meal of our trip.
This restaurant used to be the best in town. We were so excited to spend our family Thanksgiving there and share memories of being there. It has gone way down. The restaurant was not very clean and the restrooms were a mess. The service was very average and the food was not great like it used to be. It is still a great view, but sadly has gone way down. It was very disappointing.
Many have recommended Longhi's so we were excited to go on our recent 1st trip to Maui/Lahaina. But were disappointed in the taste of the food, price for the quantity given, and the server was new and though pleasant, knew nothing. Every question we asked, she had to go ask someone else to be able to answer. The view and setting is wonderful, just wish the food and service would have followed. And that their reputation lived up to the present.
Not that great & I can’t figure out what’s going on with this place. Used to be the best place in town. Been going there since the 70’s. Menu has changed a bit, maybe it’s the chef?! Artichoke smothered in greasy melted cheese & over cooked, it was mushy & tasteless. Fish was so so. Just disappointed with the last 4 times of eating there. Won’t be coming back.
This used to be one of Lahaina’s best restaurants. Not anymore. The menu at the entrance tells you what used to be, the menu inside leaves many dishes off. The artichoke came with loads of soupy sauce. The waiter brought us the wrong salad. The fish of the day was mediocre. The put a gob of awful risotto on the entree plate.
The upstairs with the great view was closed due to lack of business. Tells you they no longer have their act together for dinner. Breakfast is reportedly still good. We might try that But we won’t return for dinner..
Would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. The only good thing I can say is that we showed up prior to our reservation time and were seated right away. From there it was all downhill.
We sat at our table for a good 10 minutes before anyone brought over any water. Another 5 - 10 minutes went by and I finally asked who our waiter was and if they were going to stop by our table anytime soon. The waiter that came to our table walked by us multiple times and looked directly at our table as we sat for those 20 minutes. When he came over he asked if we had been helped yet. Obviously not since we are at your table, you had not been over yet, and someone had to tell you to help us.
Took our order right away since we had ample time to review the menu. As we were waiting we noticed the table next to us had received bread. We has to ASK for bread to be brought over. Our apps and entrees were then brought out at the same time...what??? By the time I got to my entree it was lukewarm so I cannot say whether the fish was good or not, but probably not much better hot is what I suspect. Oh and that bread I asked for came out after all this.
My fiancee asked for a refill on his soda, which I will say was brought out quickly. However, when I looked at the bill I saw that I was charged for 2 sodas (one regular and one diet). I asked my fiancee if his second soda tasted different and he said yes but thought it was just flat. Nope...our waiter brought diet instead of regular and charged me for his mistake.
Service sucked and food was mediocre at best. Definitely not worth the over $100 that the meal cost. I've had many many better meals for the same price or even less. The restaurant was not even that busy as there were many empty table around us and empty seats at the bar. I would definitely never go back or recommend it to anyone.
Nice place that's been around for awhile. Right on the main drag in Lahaina. My first visit and I was underwhelmed. Prices are way too high for food and cocktails!!! It was a pleasant enough experience, but I probably won't return. Just too pricey for what you get.
Altogether very good. Wait staff including bussing was excellent and very competent. Food was delicious. Valet parking very convenient and free. But please tip the attendant. Kind of noisy at street level, especially when motor bikes pass by. No A/C which on a warm muggy evening is “ inconvenient “
Food was all over-sauced, mojitos had finely chopped mint that came up the straw, clams were tiny and smelled odd, crab cake was closer to tuna melt, salads appeared pre made, risotto was mushy, catch of the day was mushy and swimming in sauce.
Manager did adjust bill but we were still disappointed.
Great food, wonderful service and a spectacular view! My wife started with a watermelon and greens salad. It was a little tart for her. I had delicious calamari to start with. We both had the Monchong for the main course with ever so slightly different preparations. Mine had the tomato mixture over it and she tried it with grapes. Both were very good. We split a piece of macadamia nut pie ala mode! It was outstanding!!
Food and service was just awful! Our waitress had no clue about the menu. We asked her what kind of sauces they had and she said uh we have red. What?!?! She said sorry I work breakfast not dinner. Seriously how hard is it to know what kind of sauces that they offer. She brings our dinner and its wrong. When they bring the bolognese it was just awful. It tasted like bbq sauce. The watermelon/feta salad had barely any watermelon it was just lots of arugula. My husband had the salmon which was overcooked. We were done with dinner and the waitress just brings us the bill. She never asked if we wanted coffee, dessert or even another drink. And the restaurant is outdated just run down. I wish we went back to Lahaina Grill for the third time of our 10 day stay. Dont waste your money here. So many other restaurants on Front street.
Longhi's is one of our favorite spots for breakfast. Their eggs Benedict is amazing! Tried it this time on a bed of their wonderful fried brkfst potatos. The food is fresh and they have a good variety. Daily Quiches and Frittatas and "to die for" coconut pancakes. Always on our list when we come to Maui!
I love Longhi's for the atmosphere, the view, the service and food. My favorite is the Greek salad. I have memories of a Greek salad from years ago and I always wanted to go back and have another one and they never disappoint. This trip we arrived before the sunset and watched the sunset over a glass of champagne. Dinner was delicious.
