At the recommendation of our Hana tour guide we tried the Lobster Longhi. While the experience was very enjoyable, the dish left a bit to be desired. The lobster was tough and none of the other seafood items on the plate were particularly tasty. The linguine and sauce were very good. It was plenty of food for four of us, but left us disappointed. We did enjoy our desserts and the service was excellent.
We’ve been going here on all our hawaii trips twice a year for 20 years. The menu changes from time to time and one of our favorite vegetable plates was removed some time ago. They’ve typically still been able to make it if you ask nicely. This year they supposedly couldn’t make it but had a similar dish that the server described as plain cauliflower with some herbs and capers. The cauliflower came and was very spicy; we didn’t like it and the server was unbelievably rude when we explained why we didn’t like it (AFTER she asked because the side plate was still full at the end of the meal). The server became very snippy and presented us with a check without asking if we wanted dessert. Our drinks had also been empty for 30 minutes. Not pleased and won’t be coming back as frequently on future trips.
was a very good meal and great service. last time was a disappointment. This time it was much better and a lot like Longhi's of old.
Been here in the past and had good experiences. This time left a lot to be desired. Ordered apps, dinners and kids meals. Apps came out, dinners came out but one was wrong. Server realized it was her mistake and said she'd get the right one out, asked about the kids meals and said they were coming. Corrected entree comes out a while later, still no kids meals, so we ask again. They finally come out once all the adults had eaten, the mac and cheese was good, but shouldn't take upwards of an hour. A single server seemed to be serving all of downstairs and was probably covering too much, which is more a management issue. And kitchen execution with the kids meals coming out way late, not good. Too expensive for what it is now.
Todo el personal es excelente. Muy amables, simpáticos y cordiales. Pero el nivel de la comida no es bueno. Es de restaurant de cadena y excesivamente caro para lo que ofrecen
It has been a few years since our last visit. Have to say it was a disappointing visit! Service was nothing short of a diner experience. Server was not all that busy. Brought out 3 of 4 drinks and waited 10 mins for the 4th. Everyone had an appetizer. One salad(Kale) was so lemon infused it was inedible. Asked a busboy who was filling water ( and was attentive) for a Diet Coke and sad told to ask my server.
My entree was mussels. Not good at all. Over done and not at all flavorful. Server asked if we wanted dessert while 2 people were still eating their entrees. All in all a terrible decision to go there. They certainly seem to be living on their laurels and prime location with training and attention to detail a thing of the past.
I’ve been going to Longhi’s Lahaina for over 33 years, multiple times every trip every year. While higher priced I always thought the quality was worth it but not this time. The steak was over cooked, our waitress had the salads wrong and then totally forgot our side dish. We asked for beverage refills multiple times before ever getting one. The bus boy cleared our appetizer plates and asked if we wanted to see a dessert menu before we’d even eaten and there were only 2 tables of people. Very disappointed.
Amy was a spectacular server. Friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and restaurant. Views were amazing. All the staff were fantastic. It’s the 2nd oldest restaurant in Maui. I would definitely recommend it!!
Never disappoints! But the live music was a little loud
Seated upstairs. Service impeccable. Music wonderful. HIGHLY recommend. Will definitely return.
My husband and I were on our honeymoon and found a review of this place in a tourist magazine. Everything was great! Food was delicious, servers were very helpful in helping us decide what to eat. Service was friendly and genuine. We had a great date night.
Food was excellent. Atmosphere was a bit crazy on Valentine's Day. They did not have enough staff to handle all the tables. I will give credit to the employees that were there, they worked extremely hard to provide good service. Certainly we would eat here again
Horrible we came on valentines day party of 9 first they did not tell us it.was a valentines menu only and it was 59.00 each then they ran out of fish, salad, cheese cake being cathloic on this day ash Wednesday you can only.eat.fish . We had to still pay 59.09 each even though they ran out of.almost everything not.good at all
Ran out of promised dessert and provided a less desirable substitute to our liking. Very good service. Valet parking appreciated.
It was Valentines Day with a prix fjxe menu. At 730 they were out of the Hawaiian fish choice and dessert. The substitutes were not to our liking. Our server tried her best and they did comp us a second glass of wine. Others seated after us were served first.
The wine by the glass cane in variable amounts.
Overall this was a disaster. Poor planning on the part of management. Unfortunately the servers took the brunt of complaints.
Valentine’s Day disaster !
Over booked. Px fixed meal that was over priced.
Food and service very poor.
In their defense - I just think they were under prepAred and not experienced staff.
Bad experiences. Poor service. Check your account. Was doubled charged. Won’t return.
We visit Maui once a year and Longhi’s is our favorite restaurant. My wife and I were very disappointed to find the pre- fixe menu for Valentine’s day with no option to order off the regular menu so we end up spending in excess of $200 for appetizers, entrees and desserts that we did not find very appealing and did not enjoy nearly as much as we would ordering from the normal menu. I can appreciate that the owner wanted to efficiently turn his tables quickly that evening but it got to the point where customers were being rushed. This is the first, and hopefully, last derogatory review I will write about Longhi’s but rest assured I will check ahead regarding a pre-fixe menu in the future.
Great food, service and view. Would eat there again.
Most money even spent to be ignored. Super busy as it was Valentines Day. But, we had a reservation and were on time. Experience started when we were seated and the hostess discovered the table we were to have had been used to make a table for a large group. After a few minutes we were seated at a small table on the corner route from the kitchen. Then, we were immediately asked what we wanted to drink. As we had just been handed the wine list, asked for a minute. After 10, I flagged someone down and expressed that this dinner was not off to a good start. They spoke to the waiter, and rather than trying to make things right, hardly spoke to us until it was time to collect the check. Ruined the whole experience, a fixed menu at $60 each.
Good food, but skip it if you are just a couple and don’t look like you’re made if money.
The restaurant was almost full at 6pm and the greeter was turning people away that did not have reservations.
We were seated quickly and received excellent service and wonderful food.
Service is very slow even though they were not busy. They also try to push you through your meal. Food came out warm not hot. Charged $11.00 for a small side of angel hair pasta. The Wailea location is much better.
Many times to Maui, first time to Longhi's and I thought it lived up to all the good things we'd heard. The complimentary valet met us at our vehicle in their parking lot and took the vehicle. When we entered we were seated promptly and introduced to our waiter. I was concerned about reviews I'd read from recent visitors and I will confirm that the restaurant menu does not match their online one, but it DOES match the menu listed on Open Table. They had a solid wine list including all the old world reds I was looking for. When we ordered, the waiter was knowledgeable and handled my dietary issues with suggestions and alternatives where needed.
Our food service was prompt but not rushed, and the food itself was good. I think aside from Spago's and Sarento's down south around Kihei it's in the top 3 I've had on the island. Definitely the best in Lahaina. That said, I'm not big on seafood and Maui isn't a culinary mecca for the meat and potatoes crowd that I'm a part of, so I have to give 4 stars there just on merit that I have had better steaks elsewhere. But that's not a knock on their food or preparation, both of which were quite good and the Filet Longhi's butter-sauteed basil was delicious. My wife's lobster Canneloni earned positive reviews from her, as did the Tiramisu for dessert. The little guy also devoured their kids pasta dish.
I have to say, I liked Longhi's for the reasons that many other reviewers recently have knocked it. The location is still done in vintage styling - it's functional and the art is hilarious - but it isn't trying to compete with the Spago's of the island. It's an institution to itself and it isn't trying to be something else. The band for the night was tasteful and kept the volume at a level you could have a conversation. The waiter was exceptional - Marko our waiter was friendly, funny, made our little guy smile every time he came to the table, and was attentive but not overbearing. Stop in for the experience as much as the food.
Longhi’s Restaurant has been one of our favorite 3 restaurants on Maui for many years. Therefore it’s especially enjoyable when our return was just what we have always expected.
Perfectly prepared dishes!!
Thank you, Longhi’s for never disappointing!
They missed the mark on a filer which wasn't and their slow response. The rest of our food was good.
Great food, great service!
We have enjoyed this restaurant for years but were very disappointed this year. The fan where we were seated again is still not working years later. My meal was ordered as chicken marsala but received veal. Ordered a chocolate souffle and waited 45 minutes without receiving it. Never was offered a second drink while waiting for dessert. We finally went to hostess stand to pay bill since our waiter Marco was missing in action. He refused to admit he forgot to order the dessert. We sadly are disappointed to see this decline and fully expect if this service to continue they will be closed. The only positive was the hostess came to address the rain pouring in on us and she seated others not our waiter. By the way we were not comped anything.
Disappointing dinner at Longhi's Lahaina. Service was extremely slow, took an hour to get our food, which arrived cold. They never cleared the dirty plates or refilled the water glasses. New York Steak was not good enough to justify its $50 price and Fish Longhi Style not good enough to justify its $45 price. Waitress never came to pick up our credit card charges, so we finally gave up waiting and took it up to the cashier ourselves.
Great meal, great service. Always make a point of dining here when we visit Maui.
