Longhi's - Lahaina Ratings and Reviews
Horrible we came on valentines day party of 9 first they did not tell us it.was a valentines menu only and it was 59.00 each then they ran out of fish, salad, cheese cake being cathloic on this day ash Wednesday you can only.eat.fish . We had to still pay 59.09 each even though they ran out of.almost everything not.good at all
It was Valentines Day with a prix fjxe menu. At 730 they were out of the Hawaiian fish choice and dessert. The substitutes were not to our liking. Our server tried her best and they did comp us a second glass of wine. Others seated after us were served first.
The wine by the glass cane in variable amounts.
Overall this was a disaster. Poor planning on the part of management. Unfortunately the servers took the brunt of complaints.
We visit Maui once a year and Longhi’s is our favorite restaurant. My wife and I were very disappointed to find the pre- fixe menu for Valentine’s day with no option to order off the regular menu so we end up spending in excess of $200 for appetizers, entrees and desserts that we did not find very appealing and did not enjoy nearly as much as we would ordering from the normal menu. I can appreciate that the owner wanted to efficiently turn his tables quickly that evening but it got to the point where customers were being rushed. This is the first, and hopefully, last derogatory review I will write about Longhi’s but rest assured I will check ahead regarding a pre-fixe menu in the future.
Most money even spent to be ignored. Super busy as it was Valentines Day. But, we had a reservation and were on time. Experience started when we were seated and the hostess discovered the table we were to have had been used to make a table for a large group. After a few minutes we were seated at a small table on the corner route from the kitchen. Then, we were immediately asked what we wanted to drink. As we had just been handed the wine list, asked for a minute. After 10, I flagged someone down and expressed that this dinner was not off to a good start. They spoke to the waiter, and rather than trying to make things right, hardly spoke to us until it was time to collect the check. Ruined the whole experience, a fixed menu at $60 each.
Good food, but skip it if you are just a couple and don’t look like you’re made if money.
Many times to Maui, first time to Longhi's and I thought it lived up to all the good things we'd heard. The complimentary valet met us at our vehicle in their parking lot and took the vehicle. When we entered we were seated promptly and introduced to our waiter. I was concerned about reviews I'd read from recent visitors and I will confirm that the restaurant menu does not match their online one, but it DOES match the menu listed on Open Table. They had a solid wine list including all the old world reds I was looking for. When we ordered, the waiter was knowledgeable and handled my dietary issues with suggestions and alternatives where needed.
Our food service was prompt but not rushed, and the food itself was good. I think aside from Spago's and Sarento's down south around Kihei it's in the top 3 I've had on the island. Definitely the best in Lahaina. That said, I'm not big on seafood and Maui isn't a culinary mecca for the meat and potatoes crowd that I'm a part of, so I have to give 4 stars there just on merit that I have had better steaks elsewhere. But that's not a knock on their food or preparation, both of which were quite good and the Filet Longhi's butter-sauteed basil was delicious. My wife's lobster Canneloni earned positive reviews from her, as did the Tiramisu for dessert. The little guy also devoured their kids pasta dish.
I have to say, I liked Longhi's for the reasons that many other reviewers recently have knocked it. The location is still done in vintage styling - it's functional and the art is hilarious - but it isn't trying to compete with the Spago's of the island. It's an institution to itself and it isn't trying to be something else. The band for the night was tasteful and kept the volume at a level you could have a conversation. The waiter was exceptional - Marko our waiter was friendly, funny, made our little guy smile every time he came to the table, and was attentive but not overbearing. Stop in for the experience as much as the food.
We have enjoyed this restaurant for years but were very disappointed this year. The fan where we were seated again is still not working years later. My meal was ordered as chicken marsala but received veal. Ordered a chocolate souffle and waited 45 minutes without receiving it. Never was offered a second drink while waiting for dessert. We finally went to hostess stand to pay bill since our waiter Marco was missing in action. He refused to admit he forgot to order the dessert. We sadly are disappointed to see this decline and fully expect if this service to continue they will be closed. The only positive was the hostess came to address the rain pouring in on us and she seated others not our waiter. By the way we were not comped anything.
Disappointing dinner at Longhi's Lahaina. Service was extremely slow, took an hour to get our food, which arrived cold. They never cleared the dirty plates or refilled the water glasses. New York Steak was not good enough to justify its $50 price and Fish Longhi Style not good enough to justify its $45 price. Waitress never came to pick up our credit card charges, so we finally gave up waiting and took it up to the cashier ourselves.
Online menu totally out of date. My husband wanted a waffle while in Maui and Longhi’s listed them on their website. When we sat down and didn’t see them on the menus, the Waitress told us they discontinued making waffles “a long time ago”. I suggested they update their website and she just shrugged. Food was okay but nothing special. We had already decided a year ago not to return for dinner because of poor service and mediocre food, but now we can add breakfast to that list. It’s a shame because this used to be our favorite restaurant.
The service was dreadful. We sat for 20 minutes before anyone came over except the busboy bringing us a pizza-like bread. There was no excuse as the place was not busy. If my companion had not gotten up and complained, I am not sure we would have ever been served (my plan by then was to leave at the 30 minute mark). Specialty drinks were good but overpriced. Food was bland and unexceptional except for a nice salad. The only consolation was they gave up the meal for free. I could not recommend this place and will not return. They did have a great band playing (it was a Friday night).
We have enjoyed dining at Longhi's for many years - since before they printed the menus and each server had to recite the menu from memory! And the food has always been good. However, we were disappointed to find that the in-person menu was significantly different from Longhi's website menu. For example, the website menu lists 14 pasta dishes priced from $17 to $32, with most of them in the low 20's. The menu in the restaurant had only 8 pastas listed. Moreover, the pastas that appeared on both lists were $5 higher in the menu than shown online!
It is irresponsible, unprofessional and possibly illegal for a restaurant to engage in false advertising, and in price-switching on its customers. They really need to fix this.
Whenever Longhi's decided to abandon their website prices and put higher prices on their restaurant printed menus, they seem to have raised all their prices. Therefore, what was once a fairly priced local restaurant has now become an overpriced local restaurant. The food is still pretty good but the food, service and ambiance together do not justify the high prices they are now charging for most or all of their dishes.
Was diappointed with Longhi’s. Started when I saw the free parking valet on a small side street after driving down Front St. and paying $12 to park. Ordered the artichoke. Not very large, didn’t look very fresh. Butter sauce way too sour. My guest got the watermelon feta salad. She found the feta much too goaty. I shared the grape monchong and it was ok but pretty dry. Best parts of dinner were our server and the view.
Meh! Entirely adequate. Menu was limited. Service was good...not great. Food was fine, but not exceptional. Drinks were an "A". Not oceanfront...barely oceanview. Simply adequate. Not bad but any means, but nothing to write home about. Would be worth it for a few $$ less per plate. Bottom line: They seem to feel a little overly proud of what amounts to a decent location on Front St.
The meal started out well the appetizers were excellent. Then the entrées came, there was eight of us three of us ordered the same thing, the fish special. Mine was raw! So I sent it back and 20 minutes later another piece of fish came back even more raw. The server seem to Just blow it off and we had to request to be taken off of our bill. To say the least the experience was disappointing
