Victoria described the menu very well. It’s a different experience but one we will never forget
For you cocktail drinkers try the commentator. Very very smooth bourbon even my wife who loves wine enjoyed.
We really enjoyed Lonesome Dove. The staff were all very polite and helpful, answering all of our questions and trying to make our experience the best it could be.
This was our first trip to Lonesome Dove. We have recently moved to Knoxville and had family in from out of town so we wanted to try somewhere that we hadn’t been yet. I liked the western chic decor and fun country music playing, but man was it dark downstairs! We absolutely loved our server Cody, he was so friendly and knowledgeable!! The food, however, was mehhh. Maybe I had high expectations, but we tried quite a few things on the menu and the only standouts were the salad with bacon lardons and whipped goats cheese, the chili, the garlic stuffed tenderloin and the burnt carrots. The appetizers or first course was supremely mediocre, the fettine trio was surprisingly bland, the lobster hushpuppies were barely warm and gambas were very average! I live by a rule of trying anything twice, so we will come back, but we’ll probably sit at the bar and keep our expectations low so that hopefully we’ll be pleasantly surprised next time!
Awesome meal . I don’t how Chef Tim Love does it . Just amazing .
Jasmine was wonderful as was the entire staff. Food was off the charts and the ambiance was perfect. It was a great start to our Smokey Mountain vacation.
Great food. Elk was elegant. Tenderloin was divine. Churros are tremendous. Service very good.
Victoria was an unusually talented and amazing staff member. All was great, but she made the experience special and a night we'll remember.
Birthday dinner was great
Fantastic like always! Anthony was such an incredible server and provided perfect recommendations! Plenty of spacing between tables.
Always a unique meal, terrific service and a great atmosphere
Have eaten here a number of times and always had excellent food and service. Not so this time. Went with friends and we all ordered the buffalo ribeye which came out almost raw (ordered medium) and extremely tough. Manager replaced these orders with beef tenderloin which was also quite tough and had been stuffed with garlic cloves which we specifically said we did not want. All in all this was not a good dining experience although the rabbit and rattlesnake sausage (appetizer) was very good. Very disappointing evening.
The food was great, our waiter was fantastic. Wonderful evening out.
This place has great food and a great atmosphere. I would highly recommend.
Overall very disappointing!!!
Whenever a restaurant's food is "all hyped up" to be "the best food ever", I never reallly expect it to be as good as the reviews. I do however, expect it to be somewhat good.
That being said, the food was actually well below average. The apps were decent, the chili was cold, (and not very good), and we could barely cut through the Prime Rib (let alone chew it). Not going back.
Everything about this restaurant was great except the beef was tough. When I told the server, she brought the manager who comped the meal.
They have the finest steak knives I have ever seen in a restaurant.
Service was top notch!
For this kind of restaurant, the service is what makes the difference and they delivered. For our anniversary, we were given a personalized card signed by all the staff. Our server was attentive, on top of things, and looking to deliver (even if I'm not sure he understood all the things he was saying about the food and it's preparation).
The pre-appetizer wild game fettine (we'd call it a roulade then rolled very, very thin into a multi-layered taste sliced thin like carpaccio) was new to both of us. The garlic stuff tenderloin was wonderful, as was the Branzino. They did better than do most with NA cocktails, etc. which we appreciate.
Not only was the food amazing, but our server Ashlynne was so sweet!! Super knowledgeable and professional. We never go to fancy restaurants and she made feel right at home! Will come back!
Great service and one of our best meals in recent memory.
Destiny really set the tone for our evening. She provided excellent service from an unusual drink request to our delicious meal. She was a delight, patient with us allowing time to enjoy our pre dinner cocktails then taking our order for dinner. Her service was impeccable, making multiple trips up the stairs, while not being intrusive.
We went for our anniversary and the food was amazing. The atmosphere and staff we awesome as well.
We had a wonderful dinner at Lonesome Dove. Cody our waiter was fantastic and recommended some amazing food that we thoroughly enjoyed. It felt very safe to eat there with tables at least 6 feet apart and temperature checks prior to entry. Overall it was delicious and would absolutely go back.
Wonderful food, delightful service.
Service was outstanding. Wild game terrine was unremarkable, dry and bland. Butter lettuce salad was terrific. Deviled crab was dry and seemed over baked to me. Buffalo ribeye was superb - tasty, tender and perfectly cooked. The chocolate tart lacked distinctive character. I didn’t get a remarkable raspberry flavor nor a creamy chocolate.
Callie (sp?) our waitress, made the experience nearly five star. It’s rare for me to feel compelled to return to a restaurant for the service alone but in this case, I might come and just order salad and beef and ask for Callie.
Awesome western casual theme. No need to bring your jacket and tie to enjoy this upscale Knoxville jewel. Finely crafted wild game as well as traditional steak house favorites. I recommend the lobster bites for the fort course. If you’re able, request Cali as your server, she knows the menu by heart and can make recommendations based on your likes if you feel overwhelmed by the descriptions. She never once made us feel rushed or like we weren’t the only customers she had. If you feel that Chef Jenn and the kitchen staff did a superb job, you can do what we did and join them in a round of shots at your expense. I felt that it was a nice gesture for the effort they put in to make your experience a memorable one. My only complaint, was quickly mitigated, is that the upstairs seating area was less than comfortable when we were first seated. To say it was warm was an understatement (this is my less than perfect ambiance rating). This is however, an old building. Cali was quick to open up the window next to our table allowing us to enjoy the fresh evening breeze of the old city. Albeit pricey, it is very much worth it and will definitely revisit for other special occasions. Thanks again to Cali and Chef Jenn.
We eat apps and sides only. All lacked creativity and flavor.
It was very pricy but it might have been the best food I have ever eaten. I will certainly be back for special occasions.
Every time I have dinner here, it leaves me excited to the next time I will eat here again. Everything is always awesome’
Make time for the Friday lunch. This place is run very well. Always great service and great food. Quality without being pretentious. We go every chance we get.
Amazing food and service. The drinks were amazing too. The rattlesnake was really interesting. I am so glad I got to try it. We cannot wait to go back.
Amazing food, great service. Overall best meal I’ve ever had in Knoxville! Meat was cooked to perfection. Very happy. Already planning our next trip.
the best meal I have eaten in some time. The Texas Red is a must as an appetizer.
The restaurant came highly recommended, but it fell well short of my expectations.
The two appetizers I ordered(lobster bites & some sort of roasted corn and few other things in it) was very very average. My entree was a fish of some sort that was in a light broth, just unexceptional. My friend had the stuffed beef tenderloin which was excellent.
My suggestion is to try some of the wild game that they have on the menu--and hopefully it would be good. The bread by the way was excellent.
The dinner was very good. Definitely recommend the food. The server seemed more interested in rushing us through all three courses and getting us out of there. Just did not give us a welcome feeling. For a $250 meal (pre tip) I expected better than that. Not sure what the deal is and am wondering the value of reserving via open table. We were seated at a table near the bar when there were plenty of other tables available. There were still plenty of tables available when we left. The food was fantastic just everything else was just not that welcoming.
So so so yummy! our waitress was so sweet (blanking on her name, but she had blondeish curly hair, and was training someone) and her menu knowledge was spot on. It was our anniversary, and we were started with a champagne toast to celebrate! We will for sure be back!
Always a great experience! Wonderful servers and food! The ambiance is great!
We were looking forward to sharing a wonderful experience with friends,as we have in the past. Unfortunately, our server was inconvenienced by our presence. Two days later,I am still overwhelmed with emotion because of the way we were treated. We paid our beverage tab and left before the first course was ordered because of her blatant disregard and rudeness. Unfortunately,I have several hundred dollars in gift certificates for Lonesome Dove from a school auction. On a positive note the school benefited from their donation.
Service was outstanding. The country music was a little loud and we were on the second floor. The ore meal bread was underwhelming. All good dishes were incredible and lots of care by the chef!
All of the food was excellent. Nice change up from the same old boring food that you get in most restaurants. I would skip the chocolate cake....
Our server Kallie was incredible. The food was good but not Life changing. The prices were life changing. The most expensive restaurant I've ever eaten at in my life. Because of that we won't come back.
Always a great experience. Good food and service every time.
