Esquire | Best New Restaurants 2023
James Beard Semifinalist | 2023 and 2025
Phoenix New Times | Best Thai Restaurant 2023/2024

Lom Wong celebrates the diverse people and cultures of Thailand by cooking the types of food that one would find in villages and small towns across the different regions of the country. Additionally, we tell the stories of the amazing people who honored us teaching us their recipes. Our goal is to show another side of the cuisines of Thailand by being true to ingredients, techniques, and flavors. We hand-pound our curry paste, hand-squeeze coconut milk, and are sincere to the flavors Thailand. Additionally, we offer a fantastic natural wine list and cocktails that showcase unique Thai ingredients.

Lom Wong is run by Yotaka and Alex Martin.

Why they're an Icon

From the OpenTable editors: Thailand-born Yotaka Martin and her husband Alex showcase hyper-regional flavors of Yotaka's home country at this modern restaurant that was named a 2023 Best New Restaurant by Esquire. Named 2025 semifinalists for the James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southwest, the Martins shy away from Americanized dishes like pad Thai, instead serving dishes like boo pad pong garee (stir-fried crab in a turmeric-rich curry) and naem khao tawt (crispy rice with cured pork sausage). Natural wines and tropical cocktails round out the transportive experience.

Experiences

  • Arai Kodai

    Multiple dates available
“Arai Kodai” roughly translates to “I’m down for whatever” and pays homage to the roots of our concept where we would host multi-course dinner parties in our living room without telling people what the menu would be. It’s a wonderful opportunity to explore the cuisines of Thailand with us. These days we are able to customize the experience a bit, so if there is a dish you know you must have, or are allergic to something, we can cater to your party so you have the best possible experience! For parties of 5 and above, a large party gratuity of 22% will be added to the bill.

Phenomenal experience. Our group of eight was treated like royalty, there’s no other way to put it. The service was friendly and relaxed, but incredibly thoughtful and engaging. And the food was exceptional. We had so many dishes, all of them were so different, and all of them were incredibly delicious. We will be talking about this night for days.

Made a reservation weeks earlier for my birthday. Two days before, had to add two more to make it 6. They said they could only seat us outdoors. We arrived and it was 107 degrees....the interior of the restaurant was fantastic....we were so excited. However, the seating outside was atrocious!!! Black painted walls....lousy misters, no decor, hot ....really unacceptable. (Phoenix restaurants offering outdoor seating in the heat of summer...should KNOW to provide adequate misters and weather appropriate decor). I complained and tried to cancel as my guests were really upset. They were not accommodating at all and insisted on charging us $30 per guest if we cancelled. Their policy was 48 hour cancellation and I had already given a credit card. The manager refused to speak with me. So....we stayed and suffered through the extremely hot and uncomfortable outside seating. The FOOD however was outstanding...the best Thai we had all had outside of Thailand. We did the special menu where they just brought us items...and each one was more delightful than the next! (LOTS of food , though) The wait service was ok...had to ask several times for drinks and their menu was very limited. A 22% tip was included so no opportunity to let them know it could have been better. Would definitely recommend it for great Thai food and ambience IN the restaurant....but really think they should NOT offer outdoor seating unless they make accomodation for weather, and the inside is decorated so beautifully....if they could have carried it outside...the experience would have been much better. They DID bring us creme brulee and hibiscus brulee at the end for my birthday...which was much appreciated.

One of our favorite places to have dinner whenever we come to town. We love the Green Mango Salad and the Fried Chicken. This time we tried the Bok Choy and it was also excellent. These 3 things will be our go to favorites. Love their story and how they worked so hard to establish this amazing restaurant. Go and enjoy. Parking might be tricky. But looks like a valet place opened up a block east.

Phenomenal food, outstanding service. Lom Wong hits every flavor note perfectly! Ordered: pork belly, crispy rice, seaweed salad, and flat noodles with squid. The sauce on the pork belly, I could drink with a straw. All cocktails were delicious, perfectly balanced and complimented the food. All unique. I wish I had this level of Thai in Dallas. The hostess and servers were amazing and explained everything from the chef/owner’s passion and story to the ingredients. This is a must when in Phoenix!
