Esquire | Best New Restaurants 2023
James Beard Winner | Best Chef Southwest 2025
Phoenix New Times | Best Thai Restaurant 2023/2024

Lom Wong celebrates the diverse people and cultures of Thailand by cooking the types of food that one would find in villages and small towns across the different regions of the country. Additionally, we tell the stories of the amazing people who honored us teaching us their recipes. Our goal is to show another side of the cuisines of Thailand by being true to ingredients, techniques, and flavors. We hand-pound our curry paste, hand-squeeze coconut milk, and are sincere to the flavors Thailand. Additionally, we offer a fantastic natural wine list and cocktails that showcase unique Thai ingredients.

Chefs: Yotaka and Alex Martin

Why they're an Icon

  • Award icon
    James Beard Award2025

From the OpenTable editors: James Beard Award-winning chef Yotaka Martin and James Beard Award-nominated chef Alex Martin showcase hyper-regional flavors of Yotaka's home country, Thailand, at this modern restaurant named a 2023 Best New Restaurant by Esquire. The Martins shy away from Americanized dishes like pad Thai, instead serving dishes like boo pad pong garee (stir-fried crab in a turmeric-rich curry) and naem khao tawt (crispy rice with cured pork sausage). Natural wines and tropical cocktails round out the transportive experience.

Experiences

  • Arai Kodai

    Multiple dates available
“Arai Kodai” roughly translates to “I’m down for whatever” and pays homage to the roots of our concept where we would host multi-course dinner parties in our living room without telling people what the menu would be. It’s a wonderful opportunity to explore the cuisines of Thailand with us. These days we are able to customize the experience a bit, so if there is a dish you know you must have, or are allergic to something, we can cater to your party so you have the best possible experience! For parties of 5 and above, a large party gratuity of 22% will be added to the bill.

Return visit even better than the first. Still exploring the broad menu. Pina colada with the mango salad can't be beat.

I did not have a good experience and do not recommend. I came early for my reservation and it was not ready until 15+ minutes after my initial reservation time. The male host was not the warmest nor the bartenders in the back. The only part I enjoyed was when the menu was explained. The menu wasn’t expansive, the restaurant felt stuffed and it was not fine dining. I could not cancel unless I would be penalized ($$$) despite their lack of timeliness and restaurant catfishing. I received a message before arriving that the parking would not be good, which was not clearly listed before making the reservation. The food was not great, the service was mediocre at best and it was too chaotic to enjoy my food. I ended up going to another restaurant to end the night. If you do go do not sit outside unless you want people talking over your food. This is my first negative review on OpenTable; this is simply my experience and I wished it could have been better. Hopefully you are able to make a more inclusive experience.

Hi Rue, you're right. We ended up having to seat you about 7 minutes late because we had about 20 people at our door at 7:30. What you failed to mention in your review is that you brought an invalid form of I.D and we refused to serve you as a result. You are also correct that we are not a fine dining restaurant. It does not cost $250 a person to dine at our restaurant and we do not do a coursed menu with pairings. We did not catfish you. You never asked to cancel your reservation, but you're right- if you no-show, we'll charge you the fee. This is standard at many restaurants. We're sorry if other people chose to have conversations near you during your meal. Alas, people tend to talk to each other at restaurants.

Wish there was a 3.5. We had an overall good experience. Service was very good-specially touched by manager stopping by to check on our comfort being outside in Phoenix on 105* day! It’s great with the misters and covered pergola. Very authentic good food not a fine dining experience if that’s what you’re looking for.

We had a fabulous meal in this wonderful restaurant. We had reservations at 5:00 and we were promptly seated upon arrival. water came quickly and our server followed behind very quickly. We chose the ARAI KODAI (last item on the menu) where they chose four plates for us and every dish was delicious. The cocktails were unique and spicy. The Panang Ban Bang was a bit too spicy for me, but the SOT CHEUN was deliciously refreshing. The servers we dealt with were all very professional and were well-versed in the intricacies of each dish. Although the restaurant was busy, there was no attempt to rush us out. We definitely plan to return.

It was such an amazing experience and the food was fantastic! The hibiscus creme brulee was out of this world and the curry was so smooth and buttery and delicious. Just amazing! We will be back!

Honestly I think that in order to keep high qlty the restaurant itself it’s too big . I’ve found an overall average goodness but not what I expected from the adv. Too much sugar . Gianluca Camnasio
