Lolita Back Bay Ratings and Reviews
We came here for my birthday and they sat us at a table in the back corner right next to the subwoofer so the entire time we had to feel and hear an incredibly loud bass. Service ended up being awful, the food was good though. This was my second time here and I'm not sure I'll be back for dinner, maybe just for drinks.
Ate here for a special occasion with my wife, despite booking thru OpenTable and getting a phone call in the morning confirming our reservation, it was lost upon our arrival. That was resolved fairly quickly and we were seated. It took 20 minutes to get a server to our table. The table next to us was seated after us and had drinks, water and an appetizer on the table before we had even been talked to.
After this, the service picked up and was fine for the rest of the meal, the food was great (order 2-3 plates per person) and the sangria was excellent. The scallops in particular were a hit. I don't particularly care for grapefruit or cotton candy so the pre and post dinner compliments weren't for me, but I was told they were delicious and much appreciated.
I LOVE high-end Mexican food and we have a lot of good ones in New York. Here it comes .. this was the best I’ve ever had. The place is beautiful but very dark (bring your glasses and your phone flashlight). BONUS: order their house Lolita Tequila on the rocks. They use an orange wedge, which I thought was weird but the bartender explained why. He was right. The smoothest tequila I’ve ever had. If you’re not a straight tequila drinker, this might make you one.
Lolita absolutely surpassed my expectations! The food was phenomenal and our server Kayley ensured that the evening was special for myself and my boyfriend. We were celebrating his birthday and I really appreciated the extra effort Kayley made to ensure it was one to remember.
The carne asada was to die for and the cotton candy was a nice and playful touch!
I absolutely loved everything about this restaurant. The ambiance, drinks, service, and freshness of the food was a huge plus. All of the small touches (candles, fresh flowers, presentation, etc.) were on point. The surprise cotton candy at the end sealed the deal. Next time we visit Boston, we will be back!
Even though we had reservations, we had to wait an HOUR before getting seated. This was only because the people seated at our table stayed for three hours (who TF eats that long?!) and still did not leave. We couldn’t even get seated at a different table since the wait for those were even longer. Lolita staff was apologetic and offered us both appetizers and drinks (lemon drops!) on the house. So although we had to wait for so long, the staff was friendly and accommodating which made the experience not a total fail (seriously, who doesn’t like free food?)
I've been to Lolita for drinks a few times but this was my first time having dinner. The cocktails and food were delicious. It didn't seem super busy but our server was barely around and everything took a really long time. They serve complimentary chips, but those didn't arrive at the table until our food started arriving. I imagine those are supposed to be a snack while you wait for your food.
Lolita’s never disappoints. Last night, one of my bestest friends was visiting home and had never been to Lolita’s before. She really loved it! The drinks were great as always, the food was phenomenal, and our waitress was so lovely! Lolita Cocina will always be one of my faves.
We arrived promptly at 8 o'clock for a reservation. We were seated immediately which was great since we heard there was a 90 minute wait.
Service was awesome. She saw to everything we needed and anticipated refills on drinks and chips. This is a pretty cool and hip place.
I was so impressed by Lolita. This was the best Mexican food I have had. Delicious, bold flavors and lots of fresh lime and grapefruit in several of the dishes. We ordered the guacamole for the table, which was a standout. I ordered the charred green bean salad and the ceviche. Will definitely return!
I've tried this place more than once, the place might be cool for drinks, but the food is laughable and I'm over it. Tiny, Tiny, Tiny plates! I mean, the flavor is on point, sure, but it's just enough to make you hungry and then you're done. The plate sizes are almost a practical joke! Honestly, if you actually want to eat a meal, this is not the place. Drinks in a dark underground cavern? Sure, but that's it.
The food is to die for. The beginning shot of tequila on shaved ice, the cotton candy and temp tattoos at the end make you really feel like your getting your money's worth. They put a lot into the ambience, and while they aren't completely accessible they accommodated my request for comfortable seating because of my disability. Highlights were mahi mahi tacos, scallops, lobster quacamole, and cornbread. Every drink we had was good, but mojito was my fave. My partner and I were splitting an espresso martini and they even split it into seperate glasses. It was really the little things that's make this place so so special. Can't wait to go again!
