Lolita Back Bay
Lolita is a bustling neighborhood cantina serving playfully authentic interpretations of traditional Mexican cuisine. The dramatic space is dark and rustic, loud with laughter and intimately lit by Murano glass chandeliers, custom stained glass and flickering candles. Bold colors, luxurious leather, graffiti art and a ceiling adorned with skulls are set against an elegant venetian backdrop. House-made flour tortillas wrap flavorful tacos and hand-crafted margaritas grace an elegant, Mexican-crafted bar. The vibrant and youthful ambiance is sexy, seductive and tailored for a night of rebellion and all out revelry.

Everything was awesome. Literally everything we tried, food and drinks, were above average. The gothic vibe of the restaurant was also very cool and enjoyable.
Loved it! Always a stop for me when I am in Boston due to the good service, fun food, great cocktails all of which wraps into an awesome unique experience.
Overall Lolita Back Bay was very good and our party of 4 had a nice time. We went on a Sunday ~5:30pm. The Margarita's were excellent, good pour, great taste. Hat's off to Yasmin. We had the Taco Carnitas which was very good, as was the chicken wings. The crispy fish taquitos were good, nothing special. The crispy cauliflower taco needs a lot of help. For appetizers we had the fresco guacamole which was over powered by a ton of red onion and the hot queso dip which was good but you only got a half cup . . . that was bad for $11. We thought it would be too dark in the restaurant but even though it is below ground, it was fine with attractive lighting and decor. Service was excellent.
We had heard Lolita was “very cool” and had great food and we weren’t disappointed. The ambiance is dark and mysterious feeling. Service was excellent and food/drink quality was outstanding. The end with green apple cotton candy was fun and delicious. Will definitely come back
So yummy and a great energetic vibe. The small plates are fantastic and the cotton candy at the end of the meal was an unexpected treat. Plus the food was very inexpensive.
I love Lolita’s! It is my favorite bar/restaurant in Boston. I recommend it all the time and when friends and family visit from out of town I make a point to take them there. All the amenities are cute, unique and fun! The food is DELICIOUS and the drinks are one of a kind. (Personal favorite drink is the spicy cucumber margarita!)
Would definitely go back to Lolita. Cool "gothic" atmosphere with amazing tapas. Great drinks & the free cotton candy at the end was just a bonus!
Our experience at Lolita was excellent. We were there for a bachelorette party and the service was friendly and on point - they were even happy to split our bill among 8 people even though I'm sure it was a pain for them. The food was great - we had a few orders of guacamole (excellent) and an assortment of tacos, quesadillas and nachos. Drinks were generously sized and delicious as well. Our only complaints are that it was a bit loud to have a conversation with anyone other than the person directly beside you, and that the doors to the stalls in the bathroom seemed a bit dangerous (they were spring loaded saloon style doors with quite a sizeable gap between them, a bit awkward when you make eye contact with people waiting!) But those are definitely nitpicks and we'd come here again if we were in town.
Very good! Lots of fun!
A little too loud. Bathroom doors are ridiculous.
Overall negative experience from start to finish. Rude hostesses, bad service, mediocre food. First and last time there.
Really cool place, nice staff, no beer on tap... or hard tacos on Thursdays... all else was really good though
Wow, we were delighted at the service and food at Lolita's Back Bay. Started with fresco guacamole (delicious!) and split pollo asado (thighs were tender, juicy and seasoned perfectly), chili chicken wings (not too spicy!), and the spicy tuna chilindrinas (our fish eaters loved this). For tacos: crispy pork, grilled steak, blackened mahi mahi, and the hot chicken. The grilled steak and crispy pork were the stand outs (although the mahi mahi and hot chicken were also very good). Overall, a great meal and the service couldn't have been better - very attentive, very fast, and sincerely cordial. Definitely will be back!
My overall experience was amazing and I can’t wait to go back!
I used to love going to Lolita's for drinks and for food, but I think they've gotten cocky because this time the food was really not good and part of our order got lost in the shuffle of the kitchen and came very late while the other food on the table got cold. It was also wicked loud this time, so loud that I couldn't even chat with the person at dinner with me and we had to shout, which got old fast.
My friends an I celebrated a birthday at Lolita, and I think it was the perfect choice for a celebration. The atmosphere is dark, dramatic, but fun. It's loud, so be prepared to say "what?" a lot. Also, don't get separated from your party when you're getting seated because you will never find them again.
The food was good, but I didn't have anything that was tremendously unique or inspirational - it was just good food. Even though this is a tapas restaurant, the dishes are actually quite large. I shared a couple of dishes and ordered one of my own, and that was enough. The drinks were very good. The pre- and post- dinner treats are a really nice touch.
I recommend this place for a fun experience, good drinks, and some Instagram photo ops.
SUPER loud but SUPER cool! Definitely go once for the experience.
Amazing ambiance. Dark and Romantic. Great customer service. The waiter starts by greeting you with flavored shaved ice and the option of adding complimentary tequila. They do this to get your pallet ready for the exquisite drinks, appetizers and entrees. The best part is when you get the bill, is comes with a tower of amazing cotton candy! The best I have had in years! Cant wait to go back to Lolita Cantina!
Always enjoy the food and experience.
Great Mexican restaurant. Service was attentive. Cool ambience. Food was delicious. Definitely a fun place to go as a couple or with friends. Cute extras- cotton candy at the end of dinner, paper tattoos.
Great birthday spot!
I wouldn’t go there again... food and service both poor. Avoid!
We came for a post-graduation celebration, and as we always do at Lolita, we had a fantastic experience. We had a member of our group with a severe allergy to tropical fruit, and our server was very sure to tell the kitchen that the items we ordered needed to be free of such ingredients, which made the entire experience much more enjoyable. The value here is also unmatched — from free salsa samplers and chips, to the grapefruit granita (with tequila!) and the delicious cotton candy and temporary tattoos, you’re sure to leave this restaurant wanting to come back as soon as possible. The overall vibe is a fun one that, even if the music can be a tad on the loud side. I tell everyone I know in Boston about Lolita, I will always come back!
Celebrating a promotion at work
We enjoyed our dinner st Lolita’s the other night. We had a reservation at 4:30 shortly after it opened at 4:00. Most of the people that were in the restaurant were seated at the bar. The margaritas were delicious, I had a Lolita margarita and my husband had one with kiwi. We were served chips with three dipping salsa which were very good. We ordered a sideof guacamole which was very good. We both ordered the blackened mahi-mahi tacos which were also delicious although you only receive two very small tacos with your order and no sides are served with it. We ordered a side of plain rice to go with it. At $16 per order of tacos they were pricy and you would leave hungry if you didn’t have anything else. When you are seated you are served a complementary iced granita that you can have a topping of tequila over. Also a complimentary cotton candy after your meal. It is a fun place to dine and the service was great!
Everything was better than imagined. The service was fantastic and the food was so amazing. Definitely will be back.
Excellent experience overall. Loved the place. Highly recommended!!
Loved this place! The atmosphere is beyond cool, dark, candlelit and very red. We had a drink at the bar. The blackberry sangria was good. We were shown to our table with just a little wait time. Our server Julia was great. She brought us complimentary granita with a shot of tequila...refreshing and a great way to be greeted. We then were brought a trio of salsas and chips to munch on while perusing the menu. The menu is small plates meant to be shared. We started out with the grilled street corn and the chicken chilaquiles. The corn was amazing, spicy and cheesy. There were four halves in skewers. The chilaquiles were like nachos with roasted chicken, cheese and chile sauce. They were full of flavor and had a little kick. We then ordered blackened mahi mahi tacos and halibut ceviche. The tacos came out with two on the plate with a good size piece of fish on each. The ceviche was very small in size and loaded with hot peppers which I had to remove. It was that hot to me where it took my breath away. The flavor otherwise was fresh and citrusy. We were so surprised at the end of our meal when cotton candy appeared compliments of the restaurant. Those touches are so nice and really were appreciated. I highly recommend Lolita’s for the good cocktails, fun atmosphere, great freebies and innovative food.
Service both on arrival and at the table were very good. Food was mediocre. Drink had to send back . They should give up the gimmicky touches ( fired tequila on ice to clean your palate and cotton candy for dessert ) and concentrate on authentic good Mexican food.
Julia, the waitress was great. Our party asked her to just order for us and bring food at a reasonable rate and she was great. Also very attentive and personable, making the combination of great food and ambiance even better.
At a conference
Awesome place, outstanding food and exceptional service. The cauliflower tacos and street corn were outstanding. Lolita’s is a must go to if visiting Boston. Make a reservation!
The service was beyond great and made the first time experience even better! Would definitely go back with more friends.
Delicious food, good drinks, and trendy atmosphere.
Steak tacos were the best!
Also chips and creamy salsa was addicting!
Trendy tapas restaurant. Very unique and fun. Can't wait to go back!
Did a birthday dinner here with a larger group. Bartender was very nice. Server wasn't so nice. Food was whatever. Drinks were good.
A very fun environment! The complimentary cotton candy was a great surprise! Wasn't overly expensive.
Excellent food. Beautiful atmosphere. 10/10 for drinks.
I had a great experience here. The food was fantastic. The portions were a bit larger for some items than I’d expect for tapas, but I wouldn’t really complain about that haha.
My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday night. We had reservations at 6:45pm. We arrived early and waited for about 10 mins. which was no problem. The whole restaurant is incredibly dark. There are no windows in the seating area and it has a very gothic, dungeon theme. We were greated by our waitress who brought us complimentary shaved ice to begin our meal. We ordered bout 3 plates to share. I would seriously recommend the Patatas Bravas. They were spicy but amazing. We also got the chicken enchiladas, however, when we asked if they could remove the peppers because I have a very low spice tolerance, our waitress said, " they are already made" which concerned me a tad bit. All of the food was hot and delicious. We also were given complimentary cotton candy which was an amazing surprise and will definitely bring me back!
