Lolita Back Bay
Lolita is a bustling neighborhood cantina serving playfully authentic interpretations of traditional Mexican cuisine. The dramatic space is dark and rustic, loud with laughter and intimately lit by Murano glass chandeliers, custom stained glass and flickering candles. Bold colors, luxurious leather, graffiti art and a ceiling adorned with skulls are set against an elegant venetian backdrop. House-made flour tortillas wrap flavorful tacos and hand-crafted margaritas grace an elegant, Mexican-crafted bar. The vibrant and youthful ambiance is sexy, seductive and tailored for a night of rebellion and all out revelry.
Great spot! Very trendy!
Went out to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Everything was exceptionally perfect. Taylor is definitely our favorite person there however the whole team is friendly and attentive. I wish I could share photos but we were too busy enjoying ourselves.
It was our first time and we loved it & we can’t wait to go back
brought out the wrong food not once but twice... very frustrating experience
Great Drinks!!! Good place to hang out with friends!
Good atmosphere for a date
Love this place. It was my second time here. Small plates. Enough for all to share. I can’t wait to go back.
Great food, great service and great atmosphere. A little gem in Back Bay.
As a Texan I was a bit leery of a Mexican restaurant in Boston. Let's face it, Mexican and Boston are not synonymous. Austin maybe, but not Boston. Surprise, surprise, and the good kind. Although I'd say the food menu is more Mexican inspired than Mexican (which is fine, it's too cold for Mexican), the drinks menu is authentic, and this is at least as good a place to drink as eat.
I'll be back...
This was a wonderful restaurant. One of the highlights of my day trip to Boston. It was very unique, without compromising quality. The complementary tequila pallet cleanser before the meal and the cotton candy afterward were also a nice touch. The street corn appetizer was outstanding too. I’m so happy we gave it a try!
amazing amazing amazing. obsessed. will definitely come back!! from the food to the ambiance. 10/10.
Yummy all you can eat Monday special!
Literally the best Mexican food I’ve had in a while! Each dish was so amazing. Try the chicken quesadilla... nothing compares! Service was exceptional and the server was great at checking in with us and making sure our waters were filled. And the surprise cotton candy at the end was a great treat. Must try when in back bay.
One of my favorite restaurants, went there to celebrate my bfs birthday and it was exactly what we wanted. Food is amazingg and the service is great too. Love the cotton candy finish!
So a few friends and I celebrated my 25th birthday here at Lolita’s. The aesthetic was mesmerizing, the food was delicious, and the staff were so sweet. I really enjoyed myself and I know my friends felt the same way. I’ll def be going back in the future not just for special occasions but also for evening dining. Thanks again!
Our server was absolutely phenomenal. Food was okay. Margaritas were phenomenal.
Great food, drinks, and ambiance, but the portions were very small for the steep price.
Awesome food. Fun atmosphere
It’s an overrated restaurant and the staff that I interacted with were very elitist!!! Also, food is okay but way overpriced and they have in small print ok the bottom a monetary fee that you have to pay to the kitchen... aka kitchen appreciation fee. Really now I am supplementing the kitchen employee wages. One and done too many great restaurants in Boston
I always love dining here
Fabulous wait staff
Honestly, my only real complaint is how loud the restaurant is. I understand it's a bar, but it was 5:45 on a Monday when I went. My party was there for the food as well as the drinks, and it was difficult to have a conversation during our meal. The food and drinks were delicious as usual, though I did feel like the drinks were particularly stingy (mostly ice). For $15 a drink, you should probably give people a standard portion and not skimp by using way too much ice. All that being said, I really enjoy this restaurant, so I would love to see some minor improvements to make it even better!
Best meal I have ever had! Food was outstanding!
Waitress was decent but then spilled all three FULL trays of salsa into my friends designer purse and barely apologized, didn’t offer to come anything and left us feeling like it was no big deal, as she continued to talk about it with both tables beside us like we couldn’t hear it. Neighbors were offering their own napkins because she just stood there and had to request she bring more. Very disappointing!
Service was perfect and food was amazing!
The Avocado toast is a must!!!
Great, helpful staff who were genuinely invested in our experience; excellent food and drink; just a really cool, different kind of spot in Boston.
Funky, hip, very loud vibe. So don’t go if you want to have quiet. But it’s super fun. Fantastic drinks, chips, cornbread and entrees. Paige was great! Awesome time.
Really cool spot that is a must when visiting the area! The special touches like being greeted with the tequila spiked frozen ice (not sure what the official name is) and the cotton candy when your done your meal are awesome! Those are the type of details that matter and make a difference. Cool place with a funky vibe. Will be back when visiting Boston again!
Lolita provides a good and lively time in an interesting take on gothic-hosted tex-mex tapas. The portions are a little too small given the prices, but the quality of the food was very well ctafted. Service was also top-notch. Compared to other tapas in Boston, this is probably one of the best values while also being a vibrant atmosphere
Both chicken habanero and mahi mahi tacos are outstanding!! But the drinks were somewhat letdown. Both Tequila ice and pineapple coconut with rum were so-so. Quite loud even from a lounge standpoint!
Lolita is always an interesting place to visit for a date, bar night, or casual night out. While I'm not as big a fan of the Back Bay location as I am of the Fort Point one, this spot is definitely a great place for a more intimate outing. The food was wonderful (it's clear dishes are Mexican-inspired and not authentic Mexican, but I liked it all the same), and I found there were plenty of options for me as a vegetarian/pescatarian. Chips/guac/queso are a given, but the real victory is their margaritas (I highly recommend their frolitas!). Service was wonderful.
I love the fun, open minded, metropolitan atmosphere.
I like the dark nooks, fun but not intrusive music, and fun waitresses.
food and drinks are amazing. the food runners and waitresses are very nice, but the waitresses are very slow. the service is not the best. and the hostesses are standoffish and almost seem like youre bugging them when you check in
We were in Boston for the weekend to see my daughter in a show at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. My sister, brother-in-law and I had definite plans to dine at Lolita, and my daughter was going to join us if she had time between rehearsal and her show. She did join us, but it was not nearly as relaxing as it could have been because our server was not at all attentive. I mentioned as soon as I saw him that we would need to keep things moving for my daughter’s sake. He said alright and he understood because people often have tickets for shows and events after dinner, but then he hardly came back to our table. Our hostess was delightful, and the food was exceptional. But our service was regrettably poor.
The only other time I have visited Lolita Back Bay was when we visited BOCO two years earlier. We had an amazing experience that evening, and we couldn’t wait to return. I will definitely visit again, but I will be wary of that server should we be seated in his section.
A great experience! My sons birthday outing and it was a lot of fun. Service was excellent, food was very good. Great experience.
Unbelievable... this is a must if you’re visiting or live in Boston.
Such a great atmosphere. Love LOVED the food. Especially the queso! Would definitely come back ❤️
Lolita’s is terrific. It has a cool “underground” vibe, an outstanding bar with fun drink choices (for example, the Oaxacan Old Fashioned with mescal), and pitch perfect small plates that make it easy to try a number of dishes—including taco pairs—without any awkwardness. Our server seemed a bit overwhelmed by the crowd, but she was very nice, so it was not really an issue. All in all, a great place for a night out with friends or even business entertainment.
Food was good, but expensive for the quantity/quality. My food came out 10 minutes before my date’s food. Overall priced too high for what it is. Go for drinks, skip the food.
