Lolinda Ratings and Reviews
We went for a birthday dinner and got the perfect table (a booth for two against the wall) and we had the perfect server (Jackie)! We grabbed drinks at the bar in time for Happy Hour and enjoyed a yummy Old Fashioned and a Malbec for $7 each. Then sat for dinner and had the grilled artichoke, Maduro (plantain/burrata), a NY steak (super flavorful) and a skirt steak. All amazing and cooked perfectly! Everything is grilled Argentinian style including the veggies and bread. We were comped a bday dessert complete with candle and we did not feel rushed at all to give up our table despite our lingering. Would highly recommend if you're a steak lover or loved grilled veggies and can handle being surrounded by meat.
Food was fantastic, our server was one of the best I've ever had. But this restaurant is much louder than what I'd describe as "energetic" and I've been told since from friends I was in one of the quietest seats. Once the place thinned out, it was really nice. I will recommend this place with qualifications about the noise level.
Had a very nice experience at Lolinda ... quite a popular Mission district destination ! Had seen the restaurant reviewed on a popular local TV show so decided to try it !
We were seated on the second floor which also had a bar there ... only complaint was the very dark lighting which made it difficult to read menu or to even see the food .... many people at various tables were noted to be using their phone lights to see... it was only halfway throughthe meal that the staff corrected the “ambience”....lol !
That being said, the food was very good ! Their forte is the meat ... braised short ribs excellent , pork chop was large and juicy not dry . Best roasted shishito peppers with aioli dip ! The fish ceviche was lacking more citrus and the portion was meager for the price . The roasted octopus was delicious .
Would return to restaurant and next time would get the bone marrow and order the ribeye since their this restaurant is Argentinian in theme.
Would recommend parking in nearby parking lot building as it is difficult to find street parking in the popular Mission area of SF ! And make restaurant reservations for sure !!
I had seen it on Check Please Bay area and looked delicious - However our experience was less than stellar. The place was SO loud that I couldn't hear my partner. It was so dark also that I had to use my Iphone flashlight to see my food. The service was very good and our server super nice. The starters and small plates were excellent, however we had the Ribeye which was about 50% fatty globs and not very big for $44, not worth the price. Seemed super popular place with young techies and groups. Would not recommend it for anyone over 30.
Everything was perfect from the ambiance to the food to the service. My husband and I went there with a couple of friends for a last minute double date night on a Saturday, and they were able seat us after a 15-minute wait even though we were about an hour early for our reservation. The place has great ambiance and was lively. We ordered multiple shared plates and were all wowed by the quality and unique flavors of the food that we're still raving and thinking longingly about our dinner. What an amazing foodie experience!
The server was extremely rude and unprofessional. Forgot one of our orders and when we asked when it was coming out, she accused us of never having ordered it. Didn’t apologize or offer to comp it. At the end of the evening when we were leaving, the table next to us, the girl said something rude to me. I defended myself and the server tells me to step aside and talk because she doesn’t want to ruin their dining experience! After our group just spent $500 there. Accusing me that I did something wrong. She then escalates the situation and brings her manager over who also was extremely unprofessional.
I used to go to lolinda all the time and it was definitely our go to when we had friends visiting from out of town. I will never go back. I plan on writing a review on yelp and telling everyone about my experience and making sure none of my friends ever go there again
Food was amazing! Our group had the Empanadas - light, flaky pastry, flavorful fillings, the Pork belly - OH, just YUM, the Trout - perfectly moist and flavorful with a herbed butter sauce and butter beans, the Mushrooms - delish could have made it a meal with the sourdough, and the Skirt and Rib eye Steaks - WOW Perfection!
The service was ok although always professional, friendly and gracious. We were there on New Year's evening and it was packed full and servers were overwhelmed. After our wine and appetizers were served, it took a little while to get our dinner order in. Espresso drink took about 20 minutes after dessert was served. Check took 20 mins after we were done with dessert. Was hard to get the attention of our waiter or any waitstaff!
Our party of 5 was probably seated at a table suited for 2 or 3 and we were really crammed in. Our original table with a reservation was by the restrooms and service station. Granted, the staff was always gracious as our party number went up and down on the phone and when we asked for a different table in person. Yet we we a bit crushed through dinner.
Overall the food and company made it a night to remember and we kicked the year off well!! Will always be back, Lolinda and it will continue to be a favorite when showing guests our lovely San Francisco!
We came for a holiday dinner with friends and got seated upstairs which was vampire dark such that we and the 2 tables of diners next to us had to pull out our cellphones or flashlights to read the menu.
They have a list of cocktails and the bar was throwing distance from us, right at the top of the stairs. Hubby’s Singapore Sling was pretty good. The Presidente was very strong.
We dined on 4 appetizers: the chicken empanadas were good but the cerviche mixto was excellent. I hated that we had to share that plate as I loved the marinade sauce. BFF like the beef empanadas. The melted cheese plate was my least favorite. It was a small pan with thick, gooey cheese served with toasted bread slices.
Entrees came with just the item, no sides. The ribeye was good but the grilled asada was more tender. Portions are small for the price. Didn’t like the chicken skewer which had 4 chicken chunks but only 3 small corn cobs. The meats were not cut, so you had to slice into pieces to share which was awkward and messy on a wooden cutting board.
Dessert was OK. My cookies and milk was basically flattened wedding cookies with filling between 2 cookies. The ‘milk’ was a thin vanilla milkshake served in 3 individual tall shot glasses. Not good enough to write home about. Over all a nice place but I’d have to think hard if I were to go back.
The steaks were cooked very nicely. The bone marrow was not a very good marrow bone, lacking marrow. I had a very nice cava and my friend had a good dry sherry. The service was attentive and professional. The meal was good.
The atmosphere is busy and noisy. Toward the end of our meal, a large table was seated next to us with one chair pushed tightly up against one of our chairs. We felt like we were suddenly sharing our table with strangers.
The women's restroom was what you might expect in an old bus station. Filthy! Unbelievable in such a nice restaurant. It makes one suspicious of the kitchen if they don't mind that mess.
Though the food was good and the service well done, we won't return because of the noise, crowd and dirty restroom. It just doesn't do well enough to warrant the price.
