Did not leave a review the first time I dined at lolinda hoping our server was just having an off night. Even with terrible dismissive service we did what most people do and STILL tipped about 20% on a 180$ bill even though our server was less than deserving.
We chose to give Lolinda another shot because of the food alone. We had to host a party of seven people out of town and knew they would also love Lolindas food. After we were seated we quickly realized we had the same server as last time. We chose to just enjoy the night and hope that our last experience with him was simply a one off. WRONG. We never got the opportunity to order more food or more alcohol because he was never around and when he finally came by it had already been awhile that we had finished the dishes we ordered and just wanted to go home even if it meant going home hungry. Experience is huge for our family and it’s dissapointing that a restaurant like this would not expect for their servers to deliver a great experience.
I forget my waiter’s name but he was great.
Really cool atmosphere and good was great. Felt like an NYC restaurant
Good food. Big portions considering tapas-style dishes. You won't go home hungry. Steak is one of the best in the area.
Fun - great food - way too noisy. Happy hour drinks are a bargain/ cheap & strong. Love the empanadas & the pork belly.
The meal was great, the service was great. The restaurant was too loud. It was difficult to carry on a conversation.
Room was a bit too dark. Good food good company had good time.
Except for the loud noise caused by tables being very close to each other and the food which is a bit but not too
Much overpriced given the technique of prep , this was worth it
This was my second visit. We went early on a Tuesday night. Service was great, food was excellent and the drinks fantastic. The family style plates are great as you can try something new without having to commit to it being your entire meal.
Excellent find in my own backyard. Heavy on the meat but excellent meat. Would go again in a heartbeat.
One of my favorite places in the city. Food is amazing! Try the popusa it’s the best!
Lolinda has great food and great cocktails. It is dark and loud and your table will most likely be extremely close to those dining around you, so I don’t recommend for first dates or those seeking a quiet dining experience.
Amazing food and atmosphere! Although known as an Argentinian steakhouse, the vegetables and sides are also amazing (we loved the cauliflower.)
Great food! Great service! Will come back many times over!
The food and service was lovely but the restaurant was so noisy we couldn’t hear eachother speak from across the table. We are a young couple but it was too loud for us to enjoy ourselves. We also thought it was a bit too dark as we couldn’t really see what we were eating.
Birthday dinner with a group of 5. Great service but the restaurant is very loud. It’s difficult to have a conversation with someone across the table without yelling. Still the drinks, food and service more than made up for the noise.
We had a really nice dinner at Lolinda to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. The food and cocktails were excellent. We loved the atmosphere...the wood interior was very inviting, and the liveliness of the dinning room was very upbeat and cool, but not too loud. Our dinner started out strong. Our server wished my wife a happy birthday and took our order for wine promptly. Food came out and we began to enjoy our meal. All of the things we ordered were excellent...the pulpo was delicious! So were the patas and the chicken empanadas. The only thing that was a bit of a bummer was our server seemed to forget about us towards the end of the meal. We were obviously finished with our plates and our wine was nearly done, but she didn't stop by to check in on us for almost 30 minutes, all the while we were watching her attend to other tables near us and attempting to make eye contact with her. When we did finally get her attention, we just asked for the check because we were kind of done at that point, which is too bad, because we were looking to order another drink and look at the desert menu. She did end up bring my wife a piece of birthday cake, which was nice, it was just a little too late as we were ready to leave. Overall it was a nice meal and I would definitely go back as we did enjoy the ambiance and food, it was just disappointing to have it end in that manner.
Great Great Great !! Argentine Steakhouse Fir Meatovers The 18 oz. Rib Eye is big enough for 2 people to share The Short Rib was also excellent and a totally different taste. Empanadas and Croquetta were wonderful appetizers. Everything on the menu is ala carte. The Papas and Yucca Fries were also delicious. Very nice Argentine Malbecs and some interesting Beers on Draft. There Homemade Water in the dark brown bottle was also very refreshing. Not inexpensive but a good value.
Simply put, a great big disappointment.
Our party of eight arrived ten minutes early, for a 9:30PM Open Table reservation. We were told by the host staff that they were waiting for a party of fourteen to finish up on desert and would then reset the table for us to be seated. We approached the host staff again asking for an update and the manager, by this time it was 10:00PM.
The manager, Vincent arrived and assured me that the wait would only be momentary. At approximately 10:10PM we were shown to our table on the second floor. Upon arrival, we found a small table that was set for a tight seven, not the eight in our party. I again contacted the manager and shared my disappointment. The manager said he would send something to the table as an apology for the error. An additional table was brought in and we were finally seated at 10:30PM, an hour after our reservation time.
I wish I could say the experience got better from there, but it didn’t. I’ll save you the grief of having to read about it but, we had dirty glassware, wrong food delivered to our table, then quickly taken away. The finally, as an apology, we received one order peppers offered as an apology.
Not a good show on service this evening.
As an Argentine I’m super picky about my empanadas and asado. This restaurant is Argentine-inspired but didn’t satisfy my longing for familiar flavors. We had the provoleta, which had some nice crispy-ness but oddly, sweet bacon on it. The bread served to eat it with was toasted very aggressively as to be almost painful to eat. The beef empanadas were small, served with chimichurri (another odd choice). The filling was good, the pastry flaky, but more like a European pastry than an empanada. The grilled artichoke was my favorite. Simple and delicious. The asado mixto was served with grilled shishito peppers, again, an odd choice as Argentine food is almost never spicy. The plate had a small amount of meat considering the price and description. It was cooked perfunctorily. The sausage was good. The panna cotta was delicious. We also tried a few cocktails, Lake Titicaca Yacht Club I found to be too sweet, but The Four Seasons was delicious. Overall, it was worth visiting once. I’d like to try El Techo as well, as their small plates and drinks were my favorite parts of the meal.
Great definitely going back
Great spot. Amazing dinner always.
Has a reservation but was made to wait 20 minutes. Food was very good but not exceptional. Waitress was friendly and accommodating.
Wonderful experience. Every time I've come here over the last few years Lolinda has been outstanding. We really loved the chuleta / pork chop. But all of the sides were excellent, too. The manager Dave and our server Annie took great care of us.
Heard so many great things about this place, my group was a disappointment in everything.
1. Although my friends arrived 3 mins before me, they refused to seat them even though the resto was half full. The reason this is bad is because they had a 7 months baby and they wanted a place to put down their baby.
2. Two f the dishes were under cooked. The chef apologized as it was obvious given that the shrimp and sausage were pink.
3. In total about 6 different people served us, one of them clearly had no business serving.
He served us a zucchini skewer and said "here is the steak"
4. They didn't try to make things better by offering dessert, a drink or anything.
Even though the Bottle of Wine was served way to warm and we had to cool it.
Might have been because it was easter weekend and the A team is on vacation, but this is a place I would not recommend to anyone I care about.
Interesting unusual selection of Spanish and Argentinian wines, unfortunately served too warm and bit pricey for the serving size. All 7 dishes ordered at the table to share among 6 people were well enjoyed, especially the steaks. Desserts were good but could be passed on.
Great ambient for groups.
Food was great. We enjoyed the chicken empanadas, Shishito peppers, Ceviche, NY steak, & the yuca fries but the music was way too loud. This is not a place to dine if you are out on a first-date. Conversing with was next to impossible.
Everything about our experience was fantastic!
Had been here two times. The food is good. The meats cooked tenderly and have a nice charred smoked favor. We did not have dessert in the first visit but had the churros and the fruit crisp in the second visit. The desserts are the big disappointments. The churro is greasy and lack of cinnamon favor. The fruit crisp was mushy, not crisp at all. Otherwise, I’d give the food 4-1/2 stars.
The service is sufficient but robotic.
Thank you for making my birthday extra special. My friends and I had enjoyed the cocktails and tried a variety of items off the menu. Our server was patient while we made our choices and helpful with recommendations. I hope to visit again soon.
Great food. Great staff...
A little dark even for dinner...
But would definitely come back... :)
The meat was idiota ! Super great appetizers and drinks
Food was really good albeit quite small even if it was tapas. Specifically, the short rib flavor was great, but more than half the dish they served us was completely inedible fat. I wish I had more of the actual meat as there were really only two bites for each of the three of us sharing it. The hearts of palm salad was also quite tasty but did a great job hiding the actual hearts of palm. Other ingredients were good though!
Amazing food!!! Terrible service! Never asked once if we were ok. No eye contact. Basically a miserable person.
Waiter took 30 minutes to get us the bill. Terrible
One of the best old fashioned's in SF at their happy hour (and probably the strongest). The Empanadas de Zapallo were DELICIOUS and the 18 oz rib eye (Ojo de Bife) was large enough to split, and great for the price. I do wish they had a few more options for sides though. We went for a birthday and didn't order dessert, so they provided a complimentary one - though we weren't too keen on it. It kind of tasted like old coffee grounds - can't really complain if it's complementary though. Service was a little slow and it was a little too loud, but overall enjoyed the experience.
The grilled artichokes are amazing!
Brought some house guests visiting from Japan and had a wonderful time. The food was great and had a different taste for every dish. My only complaints are that it was too dark to appreciate the food and too loud to have a normal conversation.
Additionally, we were charged for an extra alfajores cookie when we were not asked by our server if we wanted to purchase an additional cookie since we had a party of four and the cookies and milk seem to serve three cookies. Not a huge deal, but before they charged us they should have asked if that is what we wanted. We ordered three desserts for our table and then noticed, when our bill came that we were charged an extra $2 for one extra cookie.
This restaurant also charges 4% for the SF Heath tax. As a general rule I do not like to patronize restaurants that pass their costs on to the customer.
All in all, it was good enough to try another time. Just annoyed with the extra charge when our server did not inquire what we would have liked.
We ordered the asado mixto, ensalata palmito, Chuleta, the pork chop (only so so), ceviche mixto, and the Maduro (which they forgot to pack for me to take home).
For dessert we ordered the cookies and milk, churros (my favorite) and thwas flourless chocolate cake.
All in all I would return but will watch out for the “extra” charges and try the Short Rib entree since that was a winner on the Asado Micto plate.
Great ambience for a casual dinner
