Beautiful location and the food/service was excellent.
Food is delicious, I do think the portion is small for the price. Mac n cheese portion felt like it was an appetizer and it was a main dish. I expected a bigger skirt steak than what was given for the price and compared to other restaurants. I would definitely come back but for Brunch.
Loved the view! The food was great and that isn’t common for me since I’m a very picky eater.
it was a comedy of error kind of night. We had atleast 4 to 5 issues with the servers and manager who mixed red and white wine in a glass
The ambience, the views and designs of this restaurant was stellar. Perfect for a romantic outing or just a hangout with friends. The only downside to this place was the food. The food was subpar at best. I ordered the Pesto pasta and my friend had the Moroccan chicken. The pasta was extremely al dente like it was only blanched for a few minutes and served. My friend said his chicken was flavourless. There was no salt or pepper on our table (the tables are small so no tables had salt and pep) so we were helpless. We ordered the shishito peppers and the rock shrimp which were not good at all. On the menu, the rock shrimp stated that it was served with a gochujang cream, but there was no trace of gochujang on my plate. The shishito peppers were just OK. There's a "secret" dessert menu that only consists of tiramisu and the tiramisu was awful. The ladyfingers were dripping coffee and the mascarpone cheese/ whipped cream was flavorless. Plus it was only one layer and it was served in an opaque bowl which I thought was weird.
The only saving grace of this restaurant was the drinks. The drinks were awesome! Flavorful with the perfect amount of alcohol. And our server was EXCELLENT.
My advice is if you are coming here with friends, just come here for a cocktail hour, other than that, DO NOT waste your money on the food.
Just let the customers know prior to the last 10 minutes that you have a time limit. Verses stating 'sorry, we need this table now".
Had we known 1) at the beginning or 2) midway through cocktails/appetizers that there was a limit, we could have stayed for dinner.
Instead we were asked to leave and had to eat across the street.
If the server was a little more aware we could have righted the ship. FYI it took 15 min to get the attention after appetizers to order a bottle of wine. At that point it probably would have been a good time to inform us about table times.
Great venue and service. The drinks were amazing too!
amazing location, food drinks and view! love this place
Great food and wonderful/attentive servers. We originally requested outdoor dining but asked to move in as we got a bit cold with the wind off the river. Beautiful view of the city and very nice vibe. All of our brunch food ordered was delicious, especially the Dutch Baby served in a hot cast iron skillet at the table. Surprised the menu description didn't mention the Nutella topping--we loved it, but if you're not a Nutella fan, it would have been a deal breaker. Definitely will go back for dinner.
We were there for a special occasion. It took them 20+ minutes after we were seated to remember we were there and take our drink orders. A couple seated after us but 1 table over got served immediately. Our main waiter essentially ignored us the entire night - she popped by halfway through our meal to "check in". Thankfully, there was a very sweet and attentive waiter in training who helped us out. It was his first day but he made us feel taken care of and was the saving grace. Overall not the best experience, especially for what was supposed to be a special night. The food was OK, I think you go for the scene.
The bluetooth or whatever speaker by outdoor dining is annoying. Not good enough sound to be worth it and kept going in and out of receiving source of music. Some tables outdoor dining area are too close together, table of 4 right next to our table of 4 was a foot away.
Portions are small, hostess sarcastic and unaccommodating.
The restaurant setting was the best part of the experience. Imo, the owners used it to their advantage to overcharge for food. It was decent, but mightily under portioned. I don’t mind dishing out for food. But you couldn’t substitute or add anything. You got was was on the menu. I had the “big plate” chicken. And the plate was the only big part about it. As the chicken was the size of my palm. And the cold quinoa was hidden under it. First and Last time dining there for sure .
It’s rare to find a place that offers all the key ingredients to an unforgettable evening; in addition to its delicious food, perfectly balanced cocktails and breathtaking view, Lokal’s staff spectacular service will make you feel at home. Highly recommend this place! No need to go to NYC.
The waiters were friendly and attentive, however the person who seated us was giving us an hour stay at the restaurant. This felt like I was being rushed. Because of this, me and my friend will not go back to this establishment for dinner only for drinks.
Everything went fine, except that they asked us to give up the table after 90 min although we were consuming. Not Koshet
I had the steak which was cooked to perfection. The drinks were good. You get what you pay for.
The food was extremely overpriced and portions were very small. The meal overall was average at best and served to us colder than room temperature
We had reservations to celebrate a birthday. We were given a 4-top for our party of 5 adults. It took the waitress to accommodate us & move us to a larger table since we would have vacated it in time for a another reservation hours later. The indoor social distancing was comfortable. Waitress was friendly & attentive, which explains the 22%+ tip. However, we did order their "happy hour 3 apps for $21", plus additional apps, dishes & drinks of course, but i was charged a la carte prices for each order. The food was tasty, but overly priced for sure. It also didn't have that 'special occasion' ambience even though the view of downtown Manhattan skyline was lovely.
Lokal is incredible. Dwight is the best waiter you will ever have, and the food is consistently good. The people there actually remember you and greet you by name! Impeccable service, delicious food, and an unbeatable view.
We all know the area and the view is great! Bring an extra jacket if you want to enjoy outside sitting. The food was good, we had $1 Ousters and a couple of drinks for appetizers, Dry Aged Burger and Seafood Pasta for main course and we tried both of their desserts, Tiramisu and Bourbon Sponge Cake (very small!). We enjoyed the food and the portions. However, the service was the best part!
Overpriced, food OK not great (one of the items presented to us was burnt), didn't get water until we asked for it ourselves, took long time to get served
Don't intend to go back
Great outdoor ambiance, excellent food and service!
The decor was lovely. I wasn't impressed by the food. The menu could use a little expansion.
One word- delightful
Food was good, drinks are pretty expensive. Service wasn’t bad but forgot a few things. Food items didn’t come together. Got a breakfast item and was almost done with it when the side came. Overall not bad .
The ambiance is beautiful with great views of the city but the food and drinks were nothing special. I would recommend visiting this spot knowing you are paying more for ambiance rather then a superb dining experience.
The location is great, I have to say that the manager was a really nice guys who helped us out with our wine selection, always very friendly and helpful. Our disappointment was with the food, the portions are really small, and I’m not just saying it, you can’t share it, which is ok, I get it (NYC style probably), but the food was just not good, we had pretty much all the appetizers on the menu, and I have to say that none of them were good, the burger was ok, tasted a bit like frozen meat :( and the sea food pasta barely had any seafood... so yes, we spent quite a lot of money on food and didn’t enjoy it, so it’s a bummer. The wine was great though, thankfully they didn’t have to cook it 😆
Had brunch with friends. Service was great. The food not so much. Portions were small. Home fries were so dry. Not enough vegan/vegetarian options.
Went on a Sunday for Brunch and the food was really good. Highly recommend trying it out. The only thing I wasn’t a fan was that there was too much wind outside, but that’s out of their control. Definitely coming back to try their dinner menu. Can’t wait to attend a wedding next year there, going to be beautiful.
Gorgeous view with sub par seasoned food
Our small plates came late to our table, they were cold too probably because the waiter forgot and left them in the kitchen. Our drinks and dinner were on point.
We had another fantastic meal at Lokal. In the past I’ve had the salmon, the 3 for $21 Happy Hour Special and the pesto pasta. All were very good. The last time I went I had the steak and salad. So tasty. I also love the outside ambiance the owner has created. You can almost feel like you’re in a restaurant in Miami. Beautiful views of Manhattan let you know you’re in New York. We’ll be back.
Best service I have had all year. Food was deliciously different. Will be back.
This was a nice surprise. Lots of Veg-friendly items on the menu. The food quality was superb, and so was the service. You can tell they really care about the experience.
I really wanted to love this place. Beautiful spot in the water. But the food was simply not good. We went for brunch. The red shashuka, which should have been full of taste, was simply bland. The eggs on top were barely cooked...I will own that as I should have asked for them medium, but they were barely cooked. My husband said the French toast was disappointing. Oh well.
Excellent. Great food. Great location/views. Great service.
I realize this was not a normal restaurant experience due to current reality- tables are not six feet apart and are in part of the street. That being said, we had a delightful waitress and excellent service. The food left a little to be desired- my friend loved her omelette- the soufflé pancakes were not as appetizing. They were heavy and the berry topping was more like pie filling- very sweet! They serve David’s tea ( not my favorite - especially at $4/ cup) and they had no chamomile. We ordered turkey sausage which was very overcooked. All in all, I am not a fan.
was really excited for this place but it just didn't do the trick. we had an 8 pm reservation and were told they were behind schedule, so we ended up waiting close to a half hour to be seated. they said we could order drinks and stand around in the meantime, which we did. well, the drinks (which were pricey) didn't even come out during the waiting time, we had to ask our waiter to get them for us, and he asked if we'd already paid for them (which we did). it was prosecco with a popsicle in it, so i'm not sure what the delay was. the food tasted good, but was very small portions for the price. i left still hungry. we were seated right by the server station, so plates and glass were slamming next to us the entire time. our waiter was nice and gave us suggestions for what to order, but overall the service was not up to par and i wouldn't recommend based on my experience.
This was an ‘ok’ spot but for what the cost was per meal and drink, you can get more and better quality elsewhere. The seafood pasta was ramen accentuated with seafood which was a real bummer. Drinks were subpar & the meals in general were Just ok.
