Went on a Sunday for Brunch and the food was really good. Highly recommend trying it out. The only thing I wasn’t a fan was that there was too much wind outside, but that’s out of their control. Definitely coming back to try their dinner menu. Can’t wait to attend a wedding next year there, going to be beautiful.
Gorgeous view with sub par seasoned food
Our small plates came late to our table, they were cold too probably because the waiter forgot and left them in the kitchen. Our drinks and dinner were on point.
We had another fantastic meal at Lokal. In the past I’ve had the salmon, the 3 for $21 Happy Hour Special and the pesto pasta. All were very good. The last time I went I had the steak and salad. So tasty. I also love the outside ambiance the owner has created. You can almost feel like you’re in a restaurant in Miami. Beautiful views of Manhattan let you know you’re in New York. We’ll be back.
Best service I have had all year. Food was deliciously different. Will be back.
This was a nice surprise. Lots of Veg-friendly items on the menu. The food quality was superb, and so was the service. You can tell they really care about the experience.
I really wanted to love this place. Beautiful spot in the water. But the food was simply not good. We went for brunch. The red shashuka, which should have been full of taste, was simply bland. The eggs on top were barely cooked...I will own that as I should have asked for them medium, but they were barely cooked. My husband said the French toast was disappointing. Oh well.
Excellent. Great food. Great location/views. Great service.
was really excited for this place but it just didn't do the trick. we had an 8 pm reservation and were told they were behind schedule, so we ended up waiting close to a half hour to be seated. they said we could order drinks and stand around in the meantime, which we did. well, the drinks (which were pricey) didn't even come out during the waiting time, we had to ask our waiter to get them for us, and he asked if we'd already paid for them (which we did). it was prosecco with a popsicle in it, so i'm not sure what the delay was. the food tasted good, but was very small portions for the price. i left still hungry. we were seated right by the server station, so plates and glass were slamming next to us the entire time. our waiter was nice and gave us suggestions for what to order, but overall the service was not up to par and i wouldn't recommend based on my experience.
This was an ‘ok’ spot but for what the cost was per meal and drink, you can get more and better quality elsewhere. The seafood pasta was ramen accentuated with seafood which was a real bummer. Drinks were subpar & the meals in general were Just ok.
The outdoor dining view is just amazing. Also our server was super great. She was very informative, warm and friendly. It was my friend's birthday and I didn't even have to ask for them to bring out a desert. Our server had already planned it.
Went for the sunday brunch, tables are spaced enough and all covid guidelines are all in place. Wonderful view, and food ! The waitress was very nice. Great experience overall
Food was terrible. Drinks were ok. Would recommend for drinks and the atmosphere, but not dinner.
Took my family for dinner for my dad’s and my girlfriend’s birthdays. Delicious food with great presentation, although the appetizers (two of them pictured with the review) were tough to share due to the portions. Decent range of cocktails (Lokal Pop is pictured here), and good patio service. Maintained all social distancing guidelines, and our server, Kristy (sp?), was very kind, helpful and accommodating. 5/5 and will come again.
Great meals on the menu. The gluten free meals especially were very good!
Meh. The service was great from the hostess who kept us updated during our short wait to the knowledgeable waiter! The food was just ok. The hummus plate was nothing special, maybe one pita cut up with three smaller portions of average tasting hummus. The burger lacked seasoning. The crusted tofu dish with lentils was slightly cold with tofu that needed some love (or at least a tofu press and firmer variety). I think we walked away feeling like we could have made similar level food at home. Great view. The tables may be technically six feet apart but still feels pretty packed in there. Might try again at some point since it’s close but tbd.
Food and ambience was great. Waiter forgot to “hit send” on our food so we sat an hour later waiting. Server served our waters by holding the top of the glass where we drink. This has always been a pet peeve of mine even before covid. I asked very politely to handle the glass at bottom. When the food finally came he moved my wine glass at the rim of the glass where I drink. 🤷♀️🤷♀️ Again, the food was delicious and ambience outside along the River was very nice.
I tried outdoor dining at Lokal and had a very nice experience. Very attentive waitstaff and solid food.
Mother in laws Birthday
Outdoor seating is a bit strange as it’s in the middle of a circular drive, but believe this is due to the building management. Rock shrimp are always a must have and cocktails were delicious.
Beautiful location! The water and breeze are really the only thing this place has going. Upon on our arrival you can feel anxiety and stress level from the staff pressuring to order bc brunch was ending in 20m which I can understand but is all about the approach and how you handle the situation. Then we were told to keep in mind tables have a time limit I don’t think I ever heard such thing before, which added more pressure to ordering. Then the food came and it was so bad to say the least. Husband steak and eggs tasted like pure vinegar, temperature of burgers completely off, egg benefits cold and sauce tasted way off. I walked I’m inside to use the bathroom
and forgot to wear my mask then a waitress passing by literally yelled at me in the most obnoxious way, my son was holding my hand and asked mom
What’s wrong? She could have simply asked can you pls put your mask on? After all these are unnatural times for us
Is not usual I leave such negative review but this place failed in every aspect. Definitely not returning.
Wonderful experience for a special occasion. Thank you !
May be the service could be enhanced a bit- i.e. faster and taking orders correctly.
Other than that- we had a fantastic day at Lokal. Looking forward to many more.
Our first brunch at Lokal was really nice. They created a beautiful outdoor space with social distancing in mind. They made a nice bloody mary which is my brunch go-to. The food was delicious (steak and eggs) and the service was excellent. We will be returning for sure!
First time at this restaurant and I would definitely check it out again.
Review only based during pandemic. Dinner area is quite right, but understandable given business need to make money.
Food: I had a salad and it was ok. This is a patio menu so the food might not be currently the best.
Service: our waitress was lovely and attentive. The hostess basically kicked us without no notification and the chance to other more drinks wasn’t a choice. Overall the hostess could be more delicate on how she approaches customer.
Worthy of the view but not a place I would recommend for now. Post pandemic it may be a different story.
Place is amazing for brunch! I highly recommend it. Definitely will be going back to try their dinner menu. Service was exceptional. Thank you guys!
Disappointing service. They didn’t tell us before kitchen closed so ended up missing dessert. Overall, a disappointing experience
Beautiful space overlooking the Hudson River and downtown Manhattan, though the you get a bit of midtown as well. The space feels breezy and open, though the tables are pretty close to each other. The server was very friendly, but one thing - when I told him I was allergic to nuts, he almost chose to remove the bread from my table with his hands after it had already touched the other pieces. He took a moment and brought the whole 'complimentary' bread basket to the back and had them replate the dish. Also, the I could hear the bartender complaining about my choice of a shot because it was up too high for her to reach. It made me feel bad, and if there's an access issue, maybe it should be voiced not within earshot of guests. Otherwise, everything was lovely and I hope to be back to see the space at night for dinner service.
You pay for the views!
Food was good (though portions were small and a bit expensive).
Cocktails were nice.
The decor and atmosphere are lovely and calming. We had a server working literally on his first day, and the service could not have been better. Like prior visits, I’ll say the food was “good” just not great.
Food here is always good, but they were just having an off night. Took close to an hour to get the food out and we were passed off the wrong bill. Take some of the people who are constantly walking around refilling water and put them in the kitchen to help out there.
The view is incredible, especially at night! The food is very very good and the service is perfect, many thanks!
The atmosphere is certainly nice, but the restaurant, on balance, is just ok. It's not bad, it's not great. There's just something missing. I've been here twice for dinner now and this recent visit was for brunch. It was just "ok" really. I ordered the marscapone pancakes and asked for an egg on the side, waiter went to great pains to check with the kitchen, came back and said yes, then when my meal came, the egg was missing. I asked about it, no one ever brought it, so I finished. And the food was just ok>good-ish, but expensive for what it is. There are much better food choices for brunch in JC.
Neil, thank you for the review and feedback. We are sorry to hear you were less than satisfied with the food at Lokal and do hope you will give us another opportunity in the near future.
We arrived 1/2 hour before our reservation so we could have a drink at the bar - bartender was fun and made great drinks. The view of the NYC skyline is stunning and it was a lively crowd. Good start. Appetizers were good (we only got the cheese & meat plates - but they were good). Entrees were a disappointment in a big way. One couple got the “paella for two” and the only part of it that was cooked correctly was the shrimp - mussels were rubber-stringy and the rice was clumpy. I got the chicken palliard and the chicken was like shoe leather. The salad on top was lovely and fresh but had no dressing at all. The 4th in our party had the short rib which was OK - the best of the entrees at our table but nothing to write home about. We ordered desserts to share - the apple tart (good), chocolate soufflé (very good) and at the excessivly strong and very detailed recommendations of our server - the raspberry panna cotta special. I can’t explain how.bad this desserr was. When it came, we didn’t know what it was - bright red liquid in a glass with what looked like a dollop of semi melted butter The red liquid was so sweet - it reminded me of jello concentrate. Not edible. She took it back and took it off the bill (with lots of attitude). i wish the food met the quality of the bar, ambience & view but it just didn’t

Wonderful experience. We were allowed to order drinks off of the Happy Hour at our table since we arrived before 7pm. The view was breathtaking. Someone had a private party in the back and it was super cute and elegant. The food was delicious. We ordered the 3 plates for 19.99 and added the mushroom dish and beets salad. Overall delightful meal for a Saturday night. Staff very professional and kind.

Really nice location! Beautiful view. Everyone who worked there was very nice and knowledgeable. The food was great lots of vegan/gluten free options. The truffle Mac and cheese was amazing! I love that the margaritas have homemade sour mix! They are delicious. I’ll be back soon
