LoHi Steakbar Ratings and Reviews
We visited for my husband’s birthday. LoHi Steakbar gave him a $30 bar tab to celebrate! They did an excellent job navigating my food allergy (soy) and we enjoyed the service, ambience, amazing food. Our server James was very attentive and knowledgeable we and would highly recommend this restaurant.
This was our go-to favorite for special occasions. Food always exceptional, drinks good and service great. Birthdays were always noted and something special done. Not so on our last visit. There were only 2 tables seated when we arrived, big parties of 8 and 12 and the noise level was off the charts. Then the lights were dimmed, needless to say, we couldn't read the menu. Server was lackadaisical at best. No hustle at all. Drink menu has changed and not for the better, and waayy overpriced, they do not even make our favorite drinks from the old menu anymore. (we asked) Scallops-always a favorite-were so salty, my daughters would not eat them, and were very gritty. I will have to say though, they were cooked perfectly. But no turnip puree, like in the past. I guess if you want to change the menu, change ALL of it, not just parts of it. French onion soup was just so-so, would not order again. Nothing tasted "right". It just seemed like maybe they changed food suppliers and the quality was not up to what we have experienced in the past.
The restaurant was half full but yet service was incredibly slow and when food/drink did arrive, about a 50 percent accuracy rate. Received my salad about 20 minutes after my entre. And had to ask for it. Another person at the table ordered a coffee and we were done with the entrees when I flagged our unlovable server to ask for the coffee. And on and on. Asked for some dressing on the side and received herb butter. I have no idea what was going on but it wasn't a good experience for us and our out of town guests.
We ordered the Flat iron steak, Scallops and pot De creme for dessert and everything was phenomenal. You can tell how much they care about the dishes they serve and making sure their patrons are well fed and satisfied. This was the first time I've ever received a truely medium rare steak at a restaurant and it was amazing <3 The pot De creme was perfection.
Loved this place! Will definitely go back. One of the best places I've gone to celebrate a birthday. The staff was very friendly and thoughtful. The steak and pomme frites were delicious and we really enjoyed the wine that was recommended. The birthday club gift was a great treat. Thank you for a wonderful birthday dinner!
I felt so bad for us and LoHi the night we were there - there were 4 of us in Denver for a conference - we really wanted steak - but not steakhouse steak. We chose LoHi as a good looking neighborhood, authentic, non chain spot. I think it is all those things - and the food was actually really delicious -but they were totally undone by a huge (22 people?) party that night - service was somewhat panicked and disorganized - they were out of things, but didn't know that 'till after we ordered - we asked for the dessert menu, but got the check instead, so just cut our losses and left.
I would go back on a different night and try again if I'm in Denver again - but that night was definitely a struggle, and didn't really result in the kind of fun, after-work meal we were all hoping for. I would say to restaurants - if you can't handle a crowd, don't - or just have the big party and turn other tables away - it does us all a disservice.
We made a reservation, but the group at our table had paid and was just sitting there for quite a while. 15 minutes after our reservation, the manager came over and proactively offered us a round of drinks and an appetizer at the bar. It still took another 30 minutes for our table to become available, but when we sat down, he had also comped a bottle of prosecco to say sorry. Really appreciate the proactive customer service, and will definitely come back!
We just moved to the neighborhood and decided to try out LoHi Steakbar for an extended family meal on an early week night. The room wasn’t particularly busy, but our server seemed a little perturbed that we were taking some time to get settled and decide on drinks and any starters.
We ordered a couple starters, including the artichoke dip, to where the server took the service plate off the table and didn’t ask if we were finished. We were so stunned that we didn’t have time to say something before it was whisked away.
Our entrees arrived and while the main dish was fully cooked as ordered, all of the frites seemed like they were originally frozen and not fully cooked through before serving They weren’t particularly hot and had a raw texture to them inside.
Needless to say we were disappointed as this seems to be a popular LoHi hotspot. This could have been an off night but after this experience, with all the quality spots within blocks, we’re not rushing back any time soon to give it another try.
Great overall experience. Waiter was fast and friendly. Delicious oyster app (ended up ordering another! Entrees Were both good. Only gripe was the English muffin on the Frenchie burger. The meat was perfectly cooked and excellent flavors but they didn’t toast or warm the English muffin! It was a bit too dry to serve as bun so I just put it aside and ate the burger bunless. No problem because had plenty of delicious thin cut fries. Great place!
Great experience. Our server was awesome...he was funny and polite. He knew the menu very well. We were celebrating a 60th bday and family visiting from Ohio. Great time & food!! Flatiron steak and Risotto were the two winning dishes. Thanks for a great time; we'll be back!!
