Locust brings a chaotic elegance to Nashville's dining scene. Chef Trevor Moran and team carefully assemble an ever-changing menu highlighting seafood and local, seasonal products: think raw bar selection, whole grilled fish, a decadent crab omelette, a big steak, all rounded out with a somehow chewy and soft shaved ice.

Lunch: Friday - Sunday 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM (reservations required)
Dinner: Friday - Sunday 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM (reservations required)
Patio Bar: Sunday 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Unlike many places in Nashville with menu descriptions that end up over promising, the simple menu here did not disappoint. Excellent, thoughtful food, and by far the best meal I’ve had in town.

There’s more kitchen than tables in the restaurant, you’re just eating in their kitchen. Walk in and all the chefs stop what they are doing and say hi to you, so now you’re Beyoncé. Menu’s on the table are cool, the “waitress” comes over and talks to you about drinks etc., but the joke is they aren’t your waitress they are just your sherpas. The Chefs, instead, come over to you and explain the menu and take your order. They bring out everything very methodically, they don’t bring the next thing until you are finished eating what is at your table. Food was fantastic, highlighted by the Razor Clams and this beef tartar/sushi wrap dish that came with little instructions for how to assemble it. Finally, wrapped up with the most absurd desert we’ve collectively ever seen. A culinary experience. 10/10 recommend.

The food and service was phenomenal. It’s very expensive but worth it bc the food is creative and wonderfully executed. We waited on the patio before being seated. The patio is a very different experience and having a drink and a bite there doesn’t begin to match the dinner experience inside. The yellowtail rice and shaved ice dessert will live on in my dreams. My one complaint is the music was a total mismatch with the restaurant and detracted from the ambience, IMO.

My wife and I visited Locust Nashville for a date night after hearing some intriguing reviews — and I have to say, it more than lived up to the buzz. In a city full of beautiful restaurants where the ambiance often outshines the food, Locust stands out by delivering exceptional cuisine, warm service, and true hospitality. We were greeted by both front-of-house and kitchen staff and seated at a generously sized table right in front of the open kitchen. The layout is intimate but comfortable, with enough space to enjoy the evening without feeling crowded — a rare treat. My wife had a perfectly prepared gin and tonic, while I enjoyed still water from the glass bottle at our table. A friendly team member walked us through the menu and helped us select the beef tartare, pork dumplings, and grilled beef rib. Each dish was fantastic. The beef tartare was inventive and beautifully plated. The dumplings were some of the best we’ve had in the U.S. — flavorful, delicate, and clearly made with care. Before the rib arrived, the kitchen generously brought us an order of potato bread & butter and sliced meat. That bread was out of this world — truly unforgettable. The sliced meat was subtly infused with fruit, complementing the richness perfectly. The grilled beef rib was bold and indulgent, topped with soppressata spread and served with horseradish and blue cheese. A masterful flavor combination. We finished with their kakigori (Japanese shaved ice), and as homeowners in Tokyo, I can confidently say it would hold its own in any Michelin-starred kakigori shop in Japan. Before we left, the staff surprised us with a loaf of that phenomenal potato bread to take home. We were touched by their thoughtfulness. Locust is a rare gem — an elevated culinary experience with heart. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.
