Lock 72 Kitchen & Bar
Lovely place but service seemed somewhat chaotic and very slow. There were no menus available when we arrived, it took 40 mins to get a drink and an out to get just the appetizer. But we still had a lovely time
Valentine’s Day. It was the day after since we had an obligation on the day of. The service was excellent. It was very quiet and inviting. Since there was a private party in the dining room, I was asked if I would like to have a high top table in the bar. I suppose they realized that The look on my face said that I hadn’t made a reservation 4-5 weeks in advance to have a high top table in the bar. So they found a booth in the bar. We had a nice time and would definitely go back.
Prix Fix meal.
Top Chef brought in for Valentine’s Day
No warning about the $85 menu with no other alternative
Food was truly delicious
There were two full main courses
The amount of food was excellent but the first course was very filling and the second course was the same. Maybe a lighter first course and a richer second course
I congratulated the chef through our waiter.
Valentines Night Dinner. Great overall, but service was a bit slower. My cocktail came to the table really late, but everything else was pretty prompt. Server seems to be pulled in too many directions to really handle his area. lovely overall- can’t wait to come back this summer!
Professional and expeditious service.
We had a pretty simple lunch: french onion soup, french fries and creamed spinach. They were all delicious!!!! The perfect lunch and exactly what we wanted.
Service was impecable! Everything about this restaurant was enjoyable. Kind of a cool place in what's probably a strip mall?
Worth every minute and every penny. YUM!
Experienced the new menu. Very good. Really enjoyed the "upgraded" dining experience. Just what Potomac needs. Will go back more often now. Before just a place to eat, now a more thoughtful, pleasing menu. Thanks.
My family and I always enjoy Lock 72. The food is of very good quality, the ambiance is comfortable casual and it has a warm neighborhood feel to it. It is a DC quality restaurant without the hassle of going into DC.
Chose Lock 72 for a business lunch appointment. Service was outstanding, food was very good. Had the chicken club sandwich and it was quite good. Will definitely return in the future.
Friendly staff and other guests. Food was excellent. Oysters top class. Wine selection small but good choices and priced more than fairly.
Look forward to next visit.
Value neighborhood restaurant.
Other diners were very loud, with a lot of children where we were seated. We could not hear our own conversation.
Arrived on time for reservation at 7:15pm. Was greeted but not seated immediately while the staff looked for menus. Was seated a couple minutes later at a table in the bar area as requested. We waited for ten minutes with the wine menu and could hear the staff asking each other whether there were more dinner menus somewhere. After seeing that there were very few tables with food being served, mass confusion amongst staff regarding whether or not they could even present menus to the tables they were still seating, and no one stopping to take our drink order we left.
This is the second time in a row we have been seated and decided to leave this establishment. We used to highly enjoy this restaurant and went minimally twice a month for dinner and sometimes for brunch in a Saturday. The management seems to have changed within the past year and the dysfunction is very noticeable. We will sadly not be returning. I can’t consciously walk through the doors expecting minimally appropriate customer service here anymore. I hope you take this review to heart and fix whatever training/staffing/resourcing issues you are having.
Everything was great in the restaurant.
My only problem is your inappropriate name for your restaurant. As a volunteer history interpreter for the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, I need to point out the photos you display are of Lock #20 near the visitors center and Great Falls.
We went for NYE and ran into friends so it was a very relaxing, comfortable evening.
our food came out at different times so by the time my husband's food came mine was cold. They then told us they would comp us desert. we all ordered desert and they only comped one desert. It was very expensive for what it was. Will not go back
I had the Cobb chicken salad. It was prepared and presented artfully and tasted delicious.
Lunch was quite good and creative. The waiter was very informative when asked and was attentive as appropriate.
Very good restaurant. Food was excellent and the service was very good. Highly recommend this place.
We are continually impressed with how this kitchen improves their menu. Great service and food. Never disappoints.
Absolutely wonderful meal. We all loved it! Highly recommend!
We have eaten at this restaurant many times but have not been there in a long time.
The menu looked great but the food had very little flavor. I believe it needed salt. It could have been very good. Every course lacked flavor but was presented beautifully.
Our waiter was very busy. H was vey kind but could never get back to us. I had to wave him down for water, wine and a spoon for my soup.
We will definitely go back but the staff and chef need to makes some adjustments.
The special tasting menu was fabulous. The service was very attentive. The noise level was a bit loud.
I am glad to see Lock 72 stepping it up and taking the fine dining experience more seriously. The food was far better than we've had in a very long time. We had stopped coming to this restaurant for a year or so until the Brian McBride chef dinner. It re-established our faith in the Robert Wiedmaier restaurants. Service was short-staffed so our waiter barely spent time at our table because he seemed to be rushing to his next table. Hire more servers on a busy Friday night!
The waiter was friendly and attentive during our order but then seemed to be focused on other tables, scattered both inside and outside the restaurant. He didnt check back after our food was delivered. Our salmon dishes were overcooked after we had asked for medium. It took assistance of other wait staff to get it rectified. The manager was helpful in getting the meals re-cooked the way we ordered them.
We visited for Special event present by the chef. The 5 course meal was highlighted by wonderful scallop dish. The invitation. We received said the last dish was a cheeseCAKE but it was not it a hunk of cheese with an apricot on top. 😀. Other than that things were great we’ll come back for the regular menu sometime.
I think there is a new chef recently. The food was outstanding. We have been there many times and the restaurant is quite good but this past Saturday was great. We will certainly be going back.
Nice menu selection. Waiter was very busy but still found time to provide good service.
The waiter and chef could not have been more accommodating to my special requests. Everything was delicious! We ate in the bar, which is very comfortable and friendly and not noisy😊
Just the right balance of everything! Excellent food, at a reasonable price, in a pleasant booth, with good wine choices (we liked the rose on this summer afternoon), and service the was there when needed but not overbearing. Kudos!
The food was delicious and the service much better than I remember. The roasted zucchini and squash carpaccio is creative and beautifully presented with a taste to match. Everyone enjoyed the evening. We will definitely go back.
Menu not nearly as good as it once was. Waitress did not bring any bread, and did not even ask if we wanted dessert. Accompanying side dishes were very odd. Do not plan to go back again.
There was excellent service, great food, and even better ambiance. I recommend the grilled octopus, as well as the steak frites. I will be back again soon!
Our neighborhood bar and restaurant is getting better! Love the outdoor patio this time of year!
Just had a delightful meal for my boyfriend’s birthday dinner. Chef Andrew took amazing care of us, sending us a few delicious appetizers. We both agreed that the tuna tartare was the best either of us had ever tasted. All the starters were beautifully presented, with complex and intriguing flavors. For the entree, I had the short rib, and he the skirt steak frites, though he subbed Brussels for the fries. Even the Brussels blew us away with the inclusion of preserved lemon bits. Nice wine selection, we chose a bottle of the Hartford Zinfandel, my favorite varietal, and it was a fantastic accompaniment. Chef Andrew recommended his sour cherry cheesecake for dessert, which was a perfect way to end the meal. All-around impressed by the food, the server was on point, but also maintained a relaxing ambiance for the meal. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly!
I always try to come here when visiting family. Their apple tatin is phenomenal. They are always so welcoming and accommodating even when I am alone or my brother jus want a beer while I’m eating dinner. Crab cake last Tim not so great but still wonderful. Elegant presentation of everything. Bar area a bit too casual sometimes.
The food was very good. We were disappointed that two of the appealing appetizers were not available.
Excellent service food and company
The food was good but the service was absolutely terrible. This is an expensive restaurant so it was a great disappointment.
We went for lunch primarily for the crab cakes which had a good review. The ambience was very pleasant as we sat in a lovely shaded outdoor patio in the Potomac shopping center. Unfortunately the food experience was not impressive .. overpriced for a small lump of crab cake that was over fried dry and rather salty. Beware of suspicious pricing if you planning to sub crab cake in the Cobb salad. Cobb salad normally comes with chicken for $18. When you asked to sub crab cake instead of chicken the price charged is still $18 for the Cobb salad (even without chicken) plus extra $7 for the crab cake!! $25 seems excessive for an average Cobb salad. Will not return despite pleasant ambience.
