We have been several times now and plan to make a reservation with friends for
When you see the old fashion pharmacy sign you know this is going to be an experience in dining.
But when you walk inside you know that it is All about the food.
Since there were six in our party we had the -tasting menu-

This dinner took us back.
Every plate (16 ) was a work of art.
The salads, so fresh and light letting the ingredients shine
The pastas ,each plate so unique that you forget you are
“The pasta course”
Then the protein course (Insert Angelic music)
The duck - the Piedimonte steak - the cod
Just -Yes !
Then when you think you cant eat another bite
They bring you plates of sweet confections that they make in the back
Cake , cookies , flan ,Chantilly cream.
When in Brooklyn wishing you were in Tuscany
This is your fix until you get on a plane.
This restaurant is truly a neighborhood gem! It has a small bistro-type vibe- very warm and friendly atmosphere. Our waiter was very courteous and knowledgeable. He recommended a wine that wasn’t on the wine list that was killer. Their specialty is Tuscan food and we were not disappointed. We started with marinated anchovies, continued with Pici for our pasta and finished with cod and branzino. All of our courses were excellent and met our expectations completely. This restaurant will be on our “repeat” list whenever we are in Brooklyn.
everything was delicious. lots of atmosphere, traditional Italian but very high quality
I ordered the dried fig and Gorgonzola salad and honestly this was the best part of my meal. The guitar string pasta itself was cooked well but overall almost inedible because it was way too heavy. I had about 5 forkfuls and I couldn’t manage to eat anymore. The mix of the egg yolk that had been incorporated into the sauce and the addition of the pancetta was just too much all together.
I came here on a Saturday night and was able to make a reservation earlier that day. I had the roasted beets salad, fresh mozzarella appetizer, and the tagliatelle al ragu. Food was delicious, drinks were great, and the atmosphere was nice as well. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu.
Enjoyed the Manhattans made with rye and those fabulous Italian cherries. We had cauliflower sfumato for an appetizer, as well as a fresh mozzarella with rapini and red peppers. Both were excellent. Also enjoyed our entrees. We were less happy with the noise level, which made it hard to carry on a conversation. Tables were very close. It would probably be calmer on a less busy night.
Food was outstanding. Service was a little cold IMO...we dropped a decent amount of money on dinner & wine for 4 people, so I expected to be treated with a bit more comfort & attention, if that makes any sense.
As always, interesting different food with wonderful flavors. Friendly yet professional service! Absolutely one of my favorites. And the house red wine is a great accompaniment.
This was our third visit (second time back), in town from Washington DC for theater in Manhattan and doubly worth the trip for (yet another) great dinner at Vini e Olii.
Average for the price point but food quality and noise were big negatives for us. Salad greens were past their ideal serving window and should not have been served. Had to pick around the ones with the most pronounced "squish". Bread was unremarkable -- disappointing for an Italian restaurant. Granted, we were there on a Sunday night over President's Day weekend... perhaps they offer a stronger showing during regularly scheduled programming.
Another great meal at Locanda Vini e Olii. If you have yet to experience their restaurant, they provide fabulous Tuscan fare, have welcoming and knowledgeable staff, and a warm, homey ambiance. Special thanks to the staff for making our engagement a night to remember.
Good authentic Piedmontese food. Usually NYC Italian restaurants tend to offer Southern Italian cuisine, this is something else although familiar Italian menu items are offered. A good system of serving house wine (quite good, by the way) is in place. You are served a bottle and a measurement is taken at the end of your dinner. Therefore, you pay only for what you had. Owners are on the floor all the time (in different roles), this makes tremendous difference.
I had a lovely dinner and bottle of wine with my son, who lives nearby, and my mother. The delicious yet unpretentious food and warm attitudes of the servers pleased three generations. Marinated sardines! Mmmm
excellent small Italian restaurant in a nice neighborhood. Food was good. Very traditional Italian. Nice size portions. Good Italian wine list. Wait staff were excellent.
Awesome food, great service, knowledgeable attentive staff, best duck I ever had in my life, go here!
Great it was great
Great neighborhood spot. Consistently good Italian food, lots of dishes you don’t find elsewhere. Service is always friendly. A real gem!
The food was delicious and the service, impeccable. Warm atmosphere, no pretensions.
This is an amazing restaurant, the atmosphere + the food makes it a winning combination.
Staff made us feel right at home, food and wine were amazing!
We had a great time! Love love love this place - would recommend to any and all
I love that place! I go for dates as much as with friends.
I had wanted to try this restaurant for a long time because of good reviews, and finally had a special occasion to celebrate with special friends who I knew would love this place. Our group definitely appreciated the Brooklyn scene here on a Saturday night, but we got the special table in the back corner, which tended to make it a little more private and less noisy. Loved the rough menus befitting the general atmosphere, which felt retro (apropos of the old pharmacy) and rustic, authentic. Drink menu featured many handmade drinks (enjoyed the homemade limoncello and the grapa after dinner). At the suggestion of our waiter (a Tuscan whose commentary greatly added to our enjoyment of the meal), we shared several apps - especially loved the onion soup gratinata, the cauliflower creation and the mozzarrella plate beautifully/deliciously garnished. Two of my guests had the branzino (they raved) and two the maltagliati, but the best was my TAGLIERINI AL TARTUFO. OMG. It was earthy, musty, delicious - actually served in an earthen brown bowl. All in all, a score.
Vini an Olli never disappoints! Driving from Long Island to Brooklyn sometimes is not easy but it is so worth the drive!! The staff is attentive and the food is nothing short of excellent! We love you guys!!! D and J
Amazing New Years dinner. Great variety and portions with an unbelievable wine pairing. Service, as always, was warm and attentive. Can't wait until next year's dinner.
Amazing neighborhood restaurant that delivered on New Year Eve as well. As usual the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Plus the entire staff is nice.
Always a great spot for a delicious dinner. Perfect for a special occasion or just a casual dinner. The house wine and Ribolita are some of my favorites.
It was an amazing experience. The staff was open, professional and provided great guidance on the meal. An excellent experience!!!
Went to celebrate Christmas and the experience was very enjoyable. The service was good and efficient. The food was excellent, especially the buffalo mozzarella and the pici pasta. My only caveat concerning the food is that there was not enough branzino. The serving was the fish filleted but appeared to be only one half of the fillet. It was delicious but I expected a bit more. I would still return and recommend.
One of the best places I have ever eaten. A sure thing for guests.
Absolutely delicious! Started with some Negronis from the Negroni menu- I had the cin-cin made with Cynar (always delicious). Great bartenders, very cool bar too! Lots of nick-nacks around the place, great for conversation topics for first dates. You should absolutely order the house marinated anchovies- even if you're not typically a fen, as my friend wasn't. They're quite mild, served on thin soldiers of bread and butter. Pastas were absolutely gorgeous too, ours as well as the many we spectated. Fig salad is another must!
Will absolutely be returning!
The staff was very attentive and had great suggestions. We will be visiting this restaurant again on our next NY visit.
We’re frequent diners here. Love everything about it—food, service, ambiance. It’s right around the corner from where we live but it’d be worth a special trip.
Wonderful ambience amazing food great seevice
I wanted to order appetizers and a main meal, but the waiter said that the appetizer was only a small bite and he advised me to order a primi as well. The appetizer was a plate full and it contained ‘risotto’, which was no risotto but ordinary rice. All in all the meal was way too big and not extremely Italian. When I left a small tip I got a lecture from the waiter that it was not enough, very annoying.
I really wanted to love this place. It's a beautiful setting, a cosy and convivial atmosphere. Sadly, I was a bit disappointed in the food. The starters were nice, but my pasta dish didn't deliver. My friends' were also a little bland - with the exception of the rabbit which I would eat again. I will probably give it another go sometime in the future and try something different.
We went to Locanda for my birthday. The meal was beyond amazing......the ambiance is beautiful and the staff was very knowledgeable and authentic. I had the duck, which they are known for and it was delicious. Everyone at my table was pleased beyond belief....we will definitely be back!!!!
