About Locanda Veneta
One of LA’s best Italian restaurants, Locanda Veneta aims to transport you to Venice, Italy. Where the freshest and often deceptively simplest ingredients are combined and cooked into art. The cozy room, often dotted with celebs, is elegant but there’s nothing fussy about the menu. Here you’ll find favorites such as a fresh-vegetable minestrone; wild mushroom risotto; and spinach and ricotta cheese gnocchi. Garlic, fresh herbs and olive oil dress many of the pasta, meat and fish dishes; and the veal scaloppini gets a different preparation every night. When an Italian spot is as classic as this, how can you skip a dessert of tiramisu? Our extensive wine list complements your meal, with selections mainly from Italy, France and California.

Locanda Veneta Ratings and Reviews
"Traditional Italian restaurant" would be a good description of it. From its lay out and decoration, non sofisticated, to the Menu offer and style of recipes and preparations. It was exactly what we were looking for: just some well done pasta and a good bottle of italian wine.
Good experience, good food.
90° outside and AC wasn’t working properly. A little warm and stuffy. The waiter explaining their AC doesn’t work very well. They also seem to serve large table or so of staff from Cedars-Sinai Hospital across the street, so atmosphere is more business than intimate. But the food is distinctive and well done.
We've been to Locanda Veneta several times and the result is consistently satisfying, a wonderful dining experience without fail. Food, service, congenial atmosphere remain at a consistently enjoyable level; we will continue to make this restaurant a regular destination.
Classical Italian food, expertly prepared and yet some unusual, creative offerings. The service is excellent, the food delicious, the portions large. Had the dinner special that included choice of several appetizers, several main courses, several desserts. A good value at $48. Extensive wine list although I didn't sample it. Prices are $$$ but worth it; Italian done right. Good for special occasions.
I had not eaten there in years until I moved back into the neighborhood a few weeks ago. I am delighted to have rediscovered this special place. And what a treat to be attended to by such true professional waiters. The real deal. No silly statements such as "hi, I'm John, and I'll be taking care of you tonight" or such awful questions like "how's that tastin' for ya?" These guys are experienced and professional. The food and ambience were perfect and I intend to go back soon and often! Highly recommend!
La calidad del servicio que ofrecen es sobresaliente, los meseros bastante amables, creo que es una buena opción para alguna noche en que no consigues mesa en algún otro lugar italiano en el area. Lo que me tocó probar de comida, rico, pero hasta ahí.
Locanda Veneta is one of the most authentic Italian restaurants in Los Angeles. The ingredients are always fresh and seasonal and the waitstaff are always extremely knowledgeable about not only the ingredients of each dish, but how it is specifically prepared. They are always willing to make adjustments and are very attentive and professional.
We've been coming here for years and each time we come we discover something new and amazing that we haven't tried.
Minestrone - best in Los Angeles; best I've ever had, period.
Ceasar Salad - another favorite
Eggplant rolls - forgetting the Italian name but these are DELICIOUS!
Calamari - fresh, grilled calamari that is to die for! You don't find fresh calamari like this in many places
Mushroom risotto - this is by far the best risotto I've ever had. It is an absolute treat. Very rich so I usually am able to take half home for later :D
Branzino - excellently prepared and ALWAYS fresh
Amazing restaurant! Food is outstanding and is great for vegetarians too. I haven't been back in 20 years but it is still outstanding-- food, service, and ambiance top notch. As good if not better than 20 years ago. Can't wait to return next I'm in LA. Really special place making each guest feel like the priority of all. Visited with son and easy breezy with family, friends, or romantic date. Thank you thank you!
We were referred here by my wife's doctor. One of the best Italian cuisine lunches we've had in a long time! The experienced waiter (who also selected our glasses of wine and the restaurant's wine collection) was very knowledgeable. We shared two secondi plates and both were delicious. I would go back anytime!
Everything was excellent. Tho my seafood pasta dish was a little to spicy. The waiter took it right away without a fuss, and returned with the dish with mild spices. I was so pleased with the results. Thank you chef for making the adjustment. We had 3 desserts, and I liked the Panna Cotta, tho the Amaretto cheesecake was very tasty, too. Also, the grilled calamari was so delicious. And it was a good size portion to split w/ 4 people as an appetizer.
Great meal on patio celebrating my 50th. Wish the waiter had told us the apple tart was enough for the 8 of us - he said it was good for 2 - 3 people so we ordered 2. What a waste. Otherwise, very pleasant experience. Also, the artichoke salad had just a few pieces of artichoke - not like in other Italian restaurants where it's the main or only ingredient.
we've been there twice now, have found the space to be lovely - very cozy and inviting. the staff is perfect, just there when needed and not hovering. wish the food was a little better. good ingrediances, but salad over dressed, pork chop over sauced. desert was great - fresh berries!
So grateful to have found Locanda Veneta! Massimo is so attentive, funny and knowledgeable. The food is incredible, and the closest we've found to the fresh & delicious authentic cuisine we experienced in Italy. Also EXTREMELY grateful that such a wonderful place bucks the current trend of creating a loud dining environment; it's so nice to be able to have a great meal AND a conversation among guests! THANK YOU! May Locanda Veneta continue to thrive in Los Angeles!
You know how you have a great memory of a place you went to long ago and you go back and your disappointed? Well after not having been here in 20 years I was so pleasantly surprised to find I loved it as much as I remembered. The food, the service and the whole experience was perfect and I'll be returning soon.
