   I really liked that they gave you a menu with a selection of meats at price and then below was a list of some lovely side dish but the price of the side was covered in the price of the meat. We had the lamb rack and the duck both where perfectly cook.

   We ordered the pre- theatre dinner, was not much variety for vegetarians, for entrée I had the tomato soup and it was very spicy, the sister ordered the pork belly which she enjoyed, for mains all I could order was the vegetarian tasting plate and so did my sister, well the bun for the mini burger must have been made in the stone age it was very hard and disgusting, the pasta not very flavoursome, the chick pea concoction very bland and the fritters no flavour whatsoever. The sides were bad.

   We have gone to Locanda on a few occasions. It has delivered as an outstanding experience until recently. Our last time was disappointing, but decided to give it another go. We now wish we hadn’t. The food had dropped a level. It’s acceptable and edible, but you expect a lot more than that from top restaurant when your paying $250 for a couple. Maybe the Chef lost interest or passion for the place and needs a new venue.Locanda was in my top 5 gems of Melbourne, not anytime soon.

   On arrival our host attempted to locate a better table. We didn't ask or even think about where we might be seated. It was just something that was thought about for us and I was taken by their thoughtfulness. We enjoyed a pre-theatre dinner of 2 courses (3 courses are available as well). We were served fast but not rushed. Everything was flowing from drinks, to courses to clearing away and the bill. The next morning we enjoyed a wonderful buffet breakfast. Locanda - we will be back!

   Menu small but something for everyone. Great wine and beer menu. Service very good. Staff professional, friendly and accommodating.

    I found this place on my Entertainment Book app - it had good reviews. The menu looked interesting as did the wine list. Disappointed to find that it was basically rather pub like with the wide screen tv on one side of the restaurant which was set up like a public bar. Consequently, the ambiance was not that great. We were seated in the restaurant section but could still hear the noise from the bar area. The food was acceptable but nothing special.
