Always a lovely experience. It feels like an authentic Italian restaurant. Very attentive service with the owners always there. Food is real, tasty and lovingly prepared. A nice place to talk with friends or a quiet date .
What a wonderful place! If we were local, this would likely be our favorite restaurant.
Enjoyed the compact simple environment, great service, and tremendous food and wine.
This is a small hole in the wall type place with a great atmosphere and great service. Clearly very popular with locals (we were visiting and dined on recommendation of a local friend). That said, we thought the food was not the best--pasta sauce was a bit soupy and the wild boar (cingale) was pretty dried out from overcooking.
Honestly, we don't think the food in LA is as good as it should be for the price--that's a pretty uniform opinion.
Quaint little place-
Daniele our very attentive server guided us you through a authentic journey of traditional Italian dishes.
His charm made this an extra special evening.
Excellent food. Nice varied specials in addition to regular menu. Gracious and attentive staff
Fantastic dining and atmosphere. Never disappoints
Love love love this place. Michelangelo is a consummate host, and the food and wine are perfect. Thank you!
Fantastic food! Cozy and quaint, a real neighborhood find! Friendly staff! Will definitely be back! Had the wild boar pasta—amazing!!
We had asked for a quiet table and that was not provided. There were 2 huge fish bones in the seabass that I ordered. It was very noisy. The salad did not have much flavor.
Love this place
Huge portions so order carefully
The restaurant serves reasonable food at reasonable prices. It's a very convenient spot to stop at for dinner when going from the Westside to the airport for an evening flight. Excellent service
While a bit pricey for Italian and pasta, the food was delicious and service great.
The restaurant and small and very intimate and cozy. For an early dinner it’s very nice a later dinner it’ll be a little crowded. The food is incredibly good the service is outstanding. And they have quite a wine selection.
Below par for the price. The most commented on by our part was "good spinach". Not my first time here and I remember the food being of higher quality.
Great authentic Italian. A small well priced and researched wine list. Nice ambiance / terrific food. And of course... valet parking!!!
Really good food and The attention of people
We met our college age son here for a birthday dinner and it was perfect! It is small and intimate inside. The service, wine and food were fantastic. Our sons loved the Frittura Di Calamari as a beginning and the bread with the three olive oil choices. We also enjoyed the wines by the glass selections. All four of our pasta dishes were made with homemade pasta - especially delicious were the Pappardelle Al Cinghiale (braised wild boar) and the Rigatoni Al Sugo Di Manzo (short rib ragu).
We could not resist sharing the Tiramisu and Cannoli for dessert - yum.
A favorite. Never disappoints. Small space so it can get a little loud when busy!
Great pasta and appetizers. Nice wine list.
Fantastic Italian restaurant. Everything was very authentic and fresh. Great service!!! Everything was delicious.
Expensive. Too expensive. But so popular my comment won't have any effect on business.
Very small trendy place. Food and service was excellent.
Wonderful Italian Fun
Food and wine superb. There was only one waiter for the entire restaurant. He was excellent,
but stretched too thin. It was loud, but in a good way. We will definitely return.
Great food, excellent Italian wines, quite noisy. Small, intimate tables.
The pasta was delicious. The Scallops were overcooked and over sauced
nice little restaurant, way too expensive. Simple pasta dishes over $25.
A great restaurant and very attentive staff. It’s a cozy place and we really enjoyed talking to the couple by us.
Will definitely go again!
Excellent beet salad. Exceptional branzino and Lasagna. Salmon was just so so. I will not return because small dining room was so loud I had to lean into my son sitting next to me in order to barely hear him talk. Too bad so many people find it acceptable to yell across their tables rather than lean forward to converse in such a small intimate dining room. Owner should really consider installing sound absorbing features in dining room to control unacceptable noise level.
Convenient place with delicious food and wine.
Even though it's on busy Lincoln Blvd, parking was no problem.
My only complaint was that the restaurant was NOISY -but that's me....
Great and super friendly service, excellent food. Easy acces and valet parking
Always great food! The Italian wines by the glass are varied and interesting... Not the same old boring standbys.....I recommend the linguini and clams, tasty and a generous portion.
Locanda is absolutely one of my favorite Italian restaurants in West LA. The ambiance is excellent. The staff is great. While it can get a little cozy and even a bit loud (never uncomfortable), the food is to die for.
Love this place!
cozy neighborhood italian spot for delicious authentic plates and full wine glasses
Without a doubt our favorite dining location in L.A. It's authentic, cozy, romantic and serves incredible food with class.
Wonderful family-owned neighborhood Italian restaurant with fantastic food. Very intimate. Friendly owner active in running the dining room. We'll go back again and again.
We have never been disappointed. Food is exceptional and the Italian wine list is superb
This is our "go to" restaurant for special occasions. We love the coziness, great wine options and delicious food. Ask for the dining room as they have an annex but it doesn't have the character the dining room has. We usually get a bottle of a Super Tuscan red, an appetizer to split (the burrata with heirloom tomatoes is a favorite), and we each order an entree and split a dessert. Going to Locanda Positano is a treat we always look forward to. It's a good idea to make a reservation.
This is a very difficult review to write because I have been a fan of Locanda Positano since it opened in 2010/2011. In fact, besides going 3-4 times per year, it has been a tradition for the past 5 years to go there on New Year's Eve as I did last night. But that might have been my final visit. I had a reservation but the front was full. I would not have minded waiting. But they took me to a back room and told me it would be just like the front. But instead, although it was empty when we arrived, it began to fill up. That was fine. But then, the table next to me quickly got filled with more than 10 young men who were loud and boisterous and a bit off-color. I am not a prude but this was very insulting that I should have been put through that. All of the other times I have gone to the restaurant, the chatter has been lively but not boisterous - like a sports bar at the super bowl. I complained and they took $15 off my bill. But actually, they should have refunded my entire bill because I left feeling much worse than when I arrived. In other words, this New Year's Eve, Locanda Positano was a punishment rather than a reward and I don't know if I can ever find the desire to return. Very sad because I love the food and the service and always looked forward to going. I am not sure what was worse - the crowd noise in the back room, or the insult of being put next to that group.
Been here many times - my favorite Italian place when traveling to LA. Quite disappointed with experience this time - lamb chops were cool - mentioned the fact they were not hot (to the waiter) - he smiled (auto reaction) and left. Very surprising for such a great place. Oh, I ate them!!! Expect more from this place.
