Locanda Positano Ratings and Reviews
The food is delicious. Home-made pastas: we had the spaghetti carbonara and rigatoni short-rib w/ a tomato cream sauce - both were amazing dishes along with the calamari and Gorgonzola salad to start. The service was warm and attentive. It was great for a date night, would be fun for an intimate dinner with friends and family too. The place has a very cozy and warm feel.
We went here for my birthday because the food in incredible, the service perfect and the ambiance lovely. It's a very small, cozy restaurant but the owners and staff go out of their way to make you comfortable and welcomed. Did I say the food was incredible?
Neighborhood gem in Marina. Tiny place with warm, upbeat vibes. Great service . Food was good , with excellent pear and arugula salad , Linguine with clams and crispy calamari and shrimp. Other dishes were just OK-- tagliatelle with shrimp and scallops in saffron had a sauce that was too thick and tiny shrimp- which , at $32, was surprising; chicken parm also pricey. Desserts not up to snuff. Will go back but order more cautiously, staying with plainer dishes. Nice selection of wines by the glass .
We have been at Locanda several times. This time was for our anniversary. As usual, the food was excellent and the service first rate. It's easy to drive by this gem as it's on busy Lincoln Blvd in Marina Del Rey but its well worth a visit. It's not cheap but it's worth it for what you get. The portions are good sized. we highly recommend it
It is unfortunate that a place with the ability’s to have charm made me and my party feel like they wanted us out the minute we walked in. Everything about the meal was rushed. They actually picked up our unfinished appetizers to quickly put down the main course. It was a very disappointing experience and I will never go back.
Our anniversary dinner was delicious as always. We love the intimate atmosphere. However, tonight there was a birthday party for 9 across from us which changed our usual quiet atmosphere into a much more loud environment. Also no mention of our anniversary or any acknowledgment despite adding that to our reservation. Oh well. We made the best of it.
Wow, was my party skeptical: Lincoln Boulevard? And yet there were those customer reviews...
We had a terrific meal: The best tuna carpaccio ever and an excellent short rib bolonese (sort of) rigatoni were standouts, but everything was delicious. Definitely a find.
We have been to this intimate Italian restaurant several times, and the food has always been excellent. The owners circulate in the small dining area and are open to answering questions about the food and wine choices. Our only complaint has been that the noise level can be quite high if all the tables are in use (as they were during our most recent visit there). If a few raucous folks fill the space with noise, quiet conversation becomes difficult. Despite this downside, we will be back.
YUMMY, YUMMY, YUMMY !!!! The only thing I can say is, "Sure wish you were open for lunch!". As with my first visit last month, the carpaccio, fried calamari, linguini vongole, and tiramisu were fabulous. Everyone is friendly and the service is impeccable. The restaurant is small and cozy which means it can get very loud. However, the epicurean experience outweighs a little noise. 😋
Going to Locando Positano is like going to Italy. The food is fabulous, authentic and well portioned. The restaurant is modest, but elegant. The Wine list has several great wines to select from to pair with the food. Recommend the Calamari, light and crisp with an excellent dipping sauce. The heirloom tomatoes are incredible with the best burrata cheese I have ever eaten. We had two pastas. My seafood pasta with a spice red sauce, was simply divine! We unfortunately were stuffed, so no Secundo. We did manage to share a tiramisu. Again, it tasted like we were actually in Positano! Molto Bene!
visited this place last time we were in LA with some friends, it is a quiet and beautiful spot in Marina del Rey. This time we took advantage of the fact that it is on the way to the airport, so we hit it up again and it does not disappoint. It reminds me of when I used to visit my family back in Roma. It is beautiful, warm and cozy with some stellar dishes that will leave you coming back for more.
Service was excellent, attentive but not hovering. Bread fresh, hot and good. The filet was THE best, tender, cooked to perfection with a lovely and flavorable Marsala sauce with plenty of sautéed mushrooms. Potatoes with spinach were excellent. The Di Noci E Gorgonzola salad was delicious and a nice presentation. The calamari at the adjacent table looked delicious and was confirmed by the diners "next door" The chicken Parmesan was above average with the light purée tomato sauce. I just prefer a richer/thicker more flavorable tomato sauce with fresh tomatoes.
Only concern: Very small restaurant, tables extremely close. When leaving, the couple next to us had to temporarily push their table to the left touching their close "neighbors" in order for us to leave... about 6-7" between tables. But, it's easy to strike up a conversation and everyone was friendly. We will return and enjoy again.
We had a Group on for dinner for two. I have been to this restaurant before and saved the date to celebrate our anniversary quietly. It was a wonderful meal, early dinner was quiet and everyone was very attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant, but know that it is small and can get "lively".
Locando was a surprising find on Stinkin' Lincoln Blvd. I would suggest that back room area as the front is small and the noise becomes amplified. Food is primarily from menus in the South of Italy and authentic. The owner is hard working to really reach the customers. The mussels and clams were perfectly spicy and well flavored. Reservations are a must, saw many turned away.
The food was amazing. The only thing that lacked a bit was the service. It took us a while to get menus and to get our wine. It is on the loud side, so be prepared it's not super intimate. The tables are close together and everyone is super happy from enjoying their amazing food.
