Locanda Osteria & Bar
Excellent as always.
Imaginative Italian inspired dishes and fabulous desserts
Small, but interesting menu. Pretty good. Peach and green bean salad was inventive and tasty but way over-dressed. Very good pasta. Good dinner with attentive service, but I wouldn’t make it a point to return.
The food is always excellent. We are from the east coast yet one of our sons lives in SF. Obviously SF is a foodie paradise. Locanda matches most if not all foodie palaces....plus the cocktails are well made and interesting. We visit this place and a couple of others whenever we visit.
Must try the Deep Fried Olives - you have too!
Great place, I would eat here everyday if I could.
I've been wanting to go to Locanda Osteria & Bar for a while now. We had reservations and were seated very quickly. The Ambiance was fun, and the service was amazing. Unfortunately, the food left a lot to be desired. The food felt flat, and didn't have any complex flavors or textures. The Tomato salad was a dish that focused on the quality of the ingredients, unfortunately the produce left a lot to be desired. We also ordered a number of pasta dishes. While all were cooked perfectly, they didn't have any complex flavors or textures. They were very basic/bland. I feel like Locanda Osteria & Bar has a lot of promise, however they need to work on their menu to really compete with other local Italian spots that deliver on an amazing Italian menu like Deflina and Flower and Water.
Outstanding food (again) and attentive, warm and extremely knowledgeable service from our server. Justin, I think.
Fun times sitting at the bar with Joe the bartender who served us excellent cocktails wine and dinner.
Excellent food, service and drinks. There are a number of options for food and drinks. The waiter was accommodating to special requests. Although there was noise it was not overwhelming. Still possible to have conversation
We always have an excellent time and the fried olives always start me to drooling!!!
The only good dishes were appetizers. Very good anchovies, chopped liver, and a salad. The pork was not too bad, really lousy rigatoni alla carbonara (overcooked, no flavors) , and fusilli integrale was also quite disappointing.
Staff doesn't know the deserts. What they claimed to be less sweet was extremely sweet (more than other deserts) and all deserts seemed to be based on the premise that the only good desert is something with more sugar than any other ingredients.
Even espresso was watery and tasted like from an instant coffee.
I have been here numerous fun and delicious times . As I was leaving my home my neighbor warned me the spot was going downhill and to try to get into Delfina . Well the artichoke
Is always good but the pasta was not eatable . The first order was so salty it was an obvious mistake so we tried again . This time it was so aldente that it was like chewing a piece of leather . We were embarrassed to be complainers So packed it for the homeless along Valencia Street . I do not have a t know what happened but a great place during restaurant week deteriorated to just so bad and such a disappointment .
Excellent service and exceptional food! A true treat!!! Go!
The food at Locanda is authentic and absolutely delicious...can't say enough good things about the chef, her staff and the wait staff....love this place!
Made reservations for the last time slot of the night. I work in the industry so I’m mindful about time. Clearly, we were the last table sat but never did we feel rushed, even for ordering from each course. First time eating here but I’ve experienced first hand the awesome Stoll brand of hospitality @ Delfina and happy to say that it is well replicated here. Excellent food, drinks, and service!!!
Food has really gone downhill. Server was rude.
We split the eggs benedict carbonara, latke-style hashbrowns, and the chocolate hazelnut bombolone. Everything was great!
Excellent. Loved it
Good but nothing special.
oh boy. we brought my 10 year old her for her birthday-- along with 2 of her closest friends, and a bunch of family kids. i think the waitstaff was surprised that we chose Laconda for a kids' birthday party, but they rose to the occasion and were super with the kids even though we took over a reasonable amount of space (and time) on their busy night full of dates, etc. The pastas were all devoured by all the kids' and we found also that they LOVED the amazing fried olives (filled with mozzerella). Everything rocked-- including the hand made drinks-- and though the bill was high, it was worth it NOT to rent a mediocre space in a "kids" restaurant or themed place, and just have an amazing meal together!
We had a great brunch. The eggs Benedict was one of the best I have had. I will definitely be back!
The food was delicious. Portions are a little small so order accordingly.
The drinks were spot on, food prepared beautifully with fabulous flavor combinations. The waiter who served us was a little pushy with his recommendations. Otherwise it was a perfect meal. The blood orange tart was to die for!
We had an impeccable waiter who clued us in on the menu highlights including the limited specials available - one of which we went for and it was incredible. Steered us well on our pasta-craving journey and we left feeling incredibly satiated and craving more.
All dishes had a nice twist to it, I was pretty much impressed. Will go there definitely again.
Every time we go, the food is excellent and prepared and served with knowledge and care. the wait staff is friendly but not intrusive and the portions are just right. Not too small to share and not too big to finish and still be able to have a coffee and dessert.
I love everything about Locanda except I always feel there is a reservation waiting on your table and therefore there is a rushed feeling. This is the second time I felt the check was offered without being asked while there was still wine on the table. My bill was nearly 250$ for two people but they had no qualms making me feel like my time was up. The food is savory and requires slow eating. When I looked behind me there were still open tables and I thought they could have given me another half hour. I know this is the sf restaurant circuit but it’s not my first choice for a friend catch-up dinner
Terrific food and wonderful service! Our waitress was wonderful and the pasta and steak dishes were excellent.
Table too small for 6 people; charging $9 for bread is a joke. Food really good
My wife and I decided to skip the company's holiday party and go to Locanda. Food and service were amazing. To start we had pork jerky and the burrata w/ Chicories and Buffalo Ricotta, as well as the Pizza Bianca, everything was really good. For the main course we shared the grilled trout, plus the bucatini. The trout although it was the "small size", it was pretty big, delicious, perfect to share.
I loved the service, never we felt that something was missing. Our glasses were always full, dirty plates were removed fast.
We will be back!
Service was slow and she would forget have the things we asked for and would have to ask again. The music was v loud and we could hardly hear one another at the table.
Stumbled across this place on OpenTable looking for somewhere to have brunch on a last minute weekend trip up to San Fran. So glad I found out!
The food was incredible, traditional brunch fare, with a bit of an Italian twist. Personally I had the benedict and the pancakes and cleared both plates! The service was impeccable.
One of the best dining experiences I've had in a while, can't wait to come back on our next trip to SF!
Service was enthusiastic & knowledgeable. The food was impeccable. Crab pasta was so flavorful and perfect to share before an entree. My husband had the lamb chops which were tender and perfectly prepared. The cod & mussels were absolutely perfect. The waiter said that the portion sizes were not large but I thought they were generous.
Great atmosphere, good music - lively but not so loud you can't talk, food was quite good (a bit heavy handed with salt, but I don't mind that). Great for a friend get together or small business dinner.
Some people in my party arrived early and checked in before I. I arrived and wanted to tell the hostess that everyone had arrived (most places i know only eat when the entire party is present). Instead of kindly asking us to wait, in a condescending voice she told us she’d “seat us in 5 minutes closer to our reservation.”
Towards the end of the meal, the sever started to clear everyone’s dishes the suddenly gave us our check, while someone was still eating their meal. Didn’t ask if we wanted dessert or more time, and no one in my party asked for the wanted check.
The food was delicious but the lack luster customer service leaves little to be desired
The waitstaff was superb. The food was magnificent. Some items were quite overpriced ($14 for 4 slices of tomato...meh). Split everything to taste it and save some money.
Brunch was amazing
This place never disappoints. Friendly and attentive staffs. Great pacing in bringing out the food. And of course , their food were delicious.
Great spot...definitely on our rotation in SF. We plan on visiting ofter.
