They don’t offer a children’s menu, even though it’s advertised on open table.
Quality of food was extremely poor and over priced. Pasta was hard, burger super greasy and fries were cold. Terrible food! Salad was just ok, extremely bland.
Service left a lot to be desired!
Great service. Pleasant atmosphere. Sad to find out they are closing on Dec 31 after 30 years.
The menu available in the restaurant was different from the menu in the app and website. We for frustrated.
Besides this, we have problem with our order, it cakes wrong.
The restaurant it’s ok!!
The food and service was excellent this time. Happy with everything.
Normally I like this restaurant and the service but, was a little disappointed my last visit. Food was great as expected though service was lacking. The waiter did not seem to be interested in giving me good service as I watch him do much better with other patrons. This will not stop me from going again or recommending this excellent restaurant. The maitre d was gracious and helped make up for the lack of attention from the waiter. The staff is usually excellent but, not to me that outing. I still say go enjoy the food it is worth it. I hope to have a better experience next time.
Menu has options for everyone. Service was very friendly and efficient.
I have dined at this restaurant many times before, typically during the holidays. It is one of the few restaurants that stay open for business during Thanksgiving and X'mas. While the food is OK (not exceptional but reliable), I have noticed that over the last few years, the service of the restaurant has gone downhill. After I was seated at the counter, it took them over 20 mins to get service. And then it took forever (another 20 mins) for the food to arrive. Being seated at the counter, I was able to observe the chaotic (and completely disorganized) action at the open food prep. For example, I notice that my salad (it required no cooking) was sitting on the counter for at least 10 mins before someone brought it to me (I was literally an arms reach away). And then, my main course, (a black Cod) took another 20 mins to arrive.
Granted it was Thanksgiving and they may be under staff, but since they have decided to stay open for the holiday, I would expect management to be better prepared. In any case, the redeeming part of the experience is my server (I think her name is Christina from Milano) whenever she had time for me. She was friendly and helpful and seems genuinely cared that I get my food in a timely way. But she was helpless since the kitchen did not cooperate! Maybe it's time for me to try another restaurant in Santa Monica next holiday.
A tad too expensive
The food was delicious, the non- alcoholic mint cucumber lemonade was amazing. Our waitress wasn’t the best, but the others seemed much better. We will go back next time we’re in Santa Monica.
Too many great places in Santa Monica to go back here. Fine but nothing special
A taste of Italy brought to Santa Monica CA, you won't be disappointed.
Always consistent in food quality and service. Recommend!
Happy house was very nice. Pizza was excellent. Nice to sit on patio and watch the world go by.
Very attractive restaurant, good food, quality service and attention. Waiter and matre D were both very personable.
Send the Chief back to school, his taste buds are ridiculously bad, the dinner was bad but the wine was good....LOL!
Locanda del Lago has something that's hard to find: a quiet table in a corner. Yet, given virtually every restaurant's nearly pathological need to play music at a competitive volume, it's not as quiet as it could be. But it is, to be fair, quieter than most. That's important when you've gotten together with people to catch up on what's going on in their lives.
The service was particularly attentive. That may have been because we were unfashionably early, and the restaurant was, maybe, half full. Of course, with such light attendance, it was hard to understand why food, including uncooked appetizers, took so long to arrive.
When it did, it proved to be satisfyingly tasty, well prepared, and more than ample; there were three of us, and two took half of their dinners home.
Ran out of food that was on menu-- one order was not delivered..service was lousy
On vacation celebrating our son graduation and his birthday. Waitress told us after waiting 40 minutes for the appetizer they were out of calamari 10 minutes later the appetizer arrived, after we had 2 of the 4 meals. The food wasn’t great and a bummer of a night.
What a wonderful restaurant! By all means, go, enjoy, relax, and have a marvelous meal. You will be gald you did.
great food and a great menu, very consistent and very good servings. Bravo Locanda del Lago.
Had the delicious DineLA lunch of lamb chops and salmon. Everything was wonderful including the service. Will be back!
To get proper service at 4.30pm, in between shifts, was not the best, confusion with staff...
Food was good in general, happy hour portions good, regular dinner menu portions were not up to par...
Still a good location, and in other times, I know it's better.
Slow service. The food took forever to come out. A piece of cork was floating in one of the wine glasses. Server was nice though.
READ THE MENU before going!! We didn't, we just knew that we wanted Italian food. We wanted to leave after being seated and not finding anything on the menu, but the waitress was so sweet that we decided to stay. She offered to make us whatever we liked, unfortunately, that came with a price. We were surprised to find that we were charged $25/plate for spaghetti and meatballs, shrimp scampi, and sautéed chicken and vegetables on top of spaghetti - none of which was very good and definitely over priced :(
have been here before never disappoints
Service food atmosphere all excellent
We went to LDL years and years ago and didn't have a very good experience, so we haven't been back in a long time. However, this year, we really were intrigued by their DineLA menu, so we decided to take a chance and try out their lunch food. Boy, are we glad we did. Our server was Robert who was very enthusiastic, helpful, funny, and kind. he told us great stories, made wonderful wine recommendations, and was very accommodating with our dietary restrictions. We really just loved him. We started off with two very nice salads - a beet salad that came with grilled chicken it didn't really need, and an heirloom tomato salad with burrata which was wonderful. We also got some bread with olive tampenade, and the tampenade was fantastic. Just the best we've ever had. For our second course, we got the salmon with asparagus which was cooked perfectly (something we've found to be a rarity with salmon when we go out) and the seafood risotto, which was to die for. Wonderfully done. We had an amazing time, the food was wonderful, the service was great (Matt was great too!), and we will definitely be back soon. So glad to have found a neighborhood restaurant with nice people and fabulous food. Thank you!
Great food & service! Had the lasagne and a pizza to share. Drinks were really good as well! Will definitely be back!
Once again LAGO has lived up to it’s reputation for fine dinning in a casual atmosphere. Excellent service and pleasant surroundings!
Food and service were very good but the restaurant ambience is in need of an upgrade. Bathrooms were dirty and not kept up.
The service was excellent. The atmosphere nice. The food was disappointing. Thin crust pizza was more like a pizza on a giant cracker. Sauce lacked flavor. Pasta was uninspiring as well. Salad was okay, greens were fresh and Brussel sprouts were good. This restaurant is suffering from the lack of interest of 3rd St Promenade, which has lots of empty stores and has become a homeless sanctuary. Sadly, as locals, we won’t likely be going back there.
We love this restaurant and come often! Pizza, pastas, Caesar salad, affogato - it’s all delicious. Mangia bene!
We eat there often as we're always happy with our experience...except for the occasional noisy child or group that have imbibed a little too much!
Mediocre food at a premium price. Terrible service. I can’t think of anything good to say.
The service was incredibly slow and actually uncomfortable.... I would ask a question regarding the menu and the server would respond to my fiancé and point the menu towards him. I would ask a question and he would respond to him. It became humorous to us by the end, but still frustrating.... Would you like to try the wine sir? ... "No she can try it" (waiter pours taster in his glass).
Waiter forgot to put in our appetizer, for our mains the steak was overcooked, but the pasta was delicious.
Robert was warm & engaging server!
Dined outside for lunch on a somewhat chilly, but sunny day. Service was quite attentive and food was nicely prepared and presented. Lago's salads make for a very nice, but not overwhelming, lunch. I tried the warm seafood salad, which is fresh greens topped with steamed calamari, shrimp and clams, with a nice light dressing with olive oil and capers. If anything, it was on the small side. My dining partner had the nicoise salad, which was much more substantial. Overall a very pleasant lunch experience and very good value.
We came for a late lunch and by then it was quiet. The main reason for giving less than an excellent review is that there were flies buzzing our table.
Easter dinner. The food was good but nothing that you would miss. Good service and ambiance
