We came for a late lunch and by then it was quiet. The main reason for giving less than an excellent review is that there were flies buzzing our table.
Easter dinner. The food was good but nothing that you would miss. Good service and ambiance
Great food, Monday nights they do not have a wine corking fee which I really recommend doing as three dishes (appetizer, pizza, ravioli) came to $60 after tip with no drinks. Otherwise, staff was friendly and funny, and my date really enjoyed it.
We have been here many times. (It has been more than a year since the last time.) We enjoy the ambiance. This time: the food quality was excellent. There were 3 of us and each of us totally cleaned our plates---but that was part of the problem. What was on the plate was top rate, but there was not enough of it. For each entrée above $30, we did not think the "value" was great. With wine expensive at $15 or more a glass, just 3 entrees with no appetizers and one dessert to be shared by 3, it was just too expensive. They had a lot of tourists (on the Third Street Promenade) and it would be fine for a kind of splurge on vacation, but now because of cost for value, I am going to have to think about going again.
It was a good dinner, the service wasn’t perfect but the attitude was good, they were busy and trying to keep up.
I had the whitefish, delicious!
It was very noisy and I had a hard time talking with the others at my table, not an intimate place.
Had a group of 15 people. Wanted it to be a very special dinner. Kitchen completely screwed up the orders and brought out main dishes before salads and appetizers. Everyone grumpy about the level of attention to this meal Especially in light of the prices we paid
Located on the 3RD street promenade it could be considered a bit touristy, but I think it was a nice neighborhood restaurant. The food was very tasty and the service was outstanding.
Goes up and down- this was a down. Dishes we often have e.g whitefish, roasted vegies were just ok. Service below par, but it was Saturday night.
I went for their special Boar dinner and it was great. Not boring :)
We ordered drinks when we sat down and didn't receive them for almost 30 minutes. When we kept asking our waitress what was holding them up she kept saying the bartender was busy. It's not a very big place and wasn't even half full. We asked for olive oil and vinegar for our bread and she brought us vinegar but said they couldn't find any olive oil. It's an Italian restaurant! We had ravioli that was just average and the meat on the Osso Buco was tough. All in all we wouldn't go back.
Not great but we were hungry. Server was the best thing about the experience
We had a great experience here! The atmosphere was relaxed and it rubbed off on every one that attended. We had a grouo of 8, two of them were kids. The ride to Santa monica was hell... But everything was made up here. The staff served us quickly and with open arms.... Great place, great service and the food was to die for. THANK YOU!!!!
Great food. Cesar the waitor is dope. The mints are bomb. :)
Great restaurant with a very professional staff.
This is not a "one time experience" but is the fabric of the culture of the management team.
Truly a great experience.
Took my family out to dinner for a special occasion. Food was fantastic and so was the service. We will definitely be going back again!!!
This restaurant is one of the best values in Santa Monica. All the food is fresh from local markets, and the owner really tries to give a good value. The pasta is authentic and of gourmet quality.
The staff were so welcoming, professional, helpful. Every single employee made an effort to extend a warm welcome. Having most of them able to speak Italian added to the atmosphere.
Authentic Italian, fresh farm-to-table, delicious on the Third Street Promenade!
Whitefish is crispy outside, moist and delicious inside
Osso bucco: most flavorful we’ve had and not too salty
You have to have the Burrata cheese which they make fresh in the restaurant every other day. You can tell it’s fresh!
Ask for Vincenzo, he’ll take good care of you!
Forgot to serve our drinks before lunch yet the restaurant was empty
The waitress was wonderful - Sarah. They were out of a lot of the items, it being a holiday weekend, which speaks well for how fresh their food is.
My wife and I have been going there for years. Consistently excellent food, imaginative cocktails, attentive service.
Excellent and attentive service; food not up to price point. Example: seafood risotto was markedly short on seafood mixed with the risotto, and was a bit bland.9
Excellent food and staff. I’ve been going to LAGO since the day they opened well over 20 years ago. Highly recommended!
Beautiful restaurant, delicious food, and old-world service. A great choice for Italian in Santa Monica. they were very accommodating to our large group making last0minute reservations.
Best Italian food I have ever had. I had the lasagna and caprese salad and my husband had a crab dish that he said was out of this world. I highly recommend this place.
Food and wine were delicious. Service was slower than usual but it was christmas day so we tried to just relax and not mind it.
We happened to be there Christmas evening so it was crazy busy. We ordered the salmon and sea bass. Both were cooked well but a little plain. Could use some more seasoning. Their bread and tempanade are very good. I’ve eaten here a number of times and I’ve found the food to be average but the service and ambiance is nice.
My family had a wonderful experience and delicious dinner on Christmas Day. The filet was prepared perfectly as was the Scottish salmon, Vitello tonato and seafood risotto. The service was polite and attentive. It couldn’t have been a better holiday dinner.
We took a family group of six people on Christmas Day and had an outstanding dinner with excellent service. We tried a variety of dishes, including vegetarian options, and all were very flavorful. The staff made some great recommendations and helped to give us a wonderful holiday experience.
The food was very good. The service was terrible. When we arrived at 12 noon on Christmas Day, there was only one other table occupied. The rest of the restaurant was empty. Instead of greeting us warmly, our server, who was at the front desk when we arrived, looked annoyed at having to seat us in her section. This poor attitude continued throughout the entire meal. Sarah was stressed, disorganized, and cranky the whole time we were there. She spent 99% of her time on the computer, and not once did she come over to check on our table. I had to ask 3 times for someone to bring my glass of wine. My entrée took much longer. We arrived at 12 noon, my entrée, the sea bass, finally arrived at 1:30pm. I asked about it with 4 different employees, and Sarah chose to argue with me that, "every kitchen is different", and a "multi-course meal comes in order of the courses". As a server myself for nine years with Hilton Hotels, I am quite aware the order that courses come in ! She also argued that it was the food runners fault, and the kitchens fault. She blamed everyone but herself, UNTIL we got the manager involved. Only then did her attitude suddenly change and she apologized for the first time, after 1 1/2 hours. The manager, Leno, was excellent. He apologized and brought us a complimentary dessert, which was nice. However, had he been on top of things, he might have noticed that Sarah spent her entire day on the computer and not serving her guests properly. My two friends got their entrees 1/2 hour before mine, which was wrong. All entrees should be served together. Sarah should have been on top of this. My friends waited to eat until my entrée arrived, so their food was cold.
The table next to ours also waited 1 1/2 hours for their entrees. I observed the other servers who seemed much more interested in giving good service than Sarah. It appeared that she did not want to work on Christmas Day, and took it out on her guests. This makes the restaurant as a whole look bad.
Locando del Lago is perfect. What a lovely place. Food is delicious. The staff is friendly and splendid.
Excellent Place to eat, relax and enjoy!! I would back there soon:)
Marci was an excellent server and was went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of and we were!
The food was wonderful but the service was outstanding!
Coming to this place for over 15 years - -still delivers great food at a good price.
We enjoyed our entrees, but it was a busy Saturday night and the service was somewhat inattentive.
They do not accept open table, acted like they didn’t even know what it is.
Appetizers were okay but the main entrees were not good.
It was our friend's birthday and my wife and I decided to take him to an Italian restaurant the three of us had been wanting to try. All the food was very good. I must especially mention the burrata that is homemade -- may be the best I have ever had. The birthday boy and I both ordered Osso Buco with saffron rice. Very good! The service was warm and personable and the atmosphere was soft and welcoming. All in all, a delightful evening.
Great service and authentic, delicious Italian food
