   The service was really bad. We were ignored by the waitress. For about 20 minutes after being seated. She forgot about it our second round of drinks (just a beer and a wine) and then blamed it on the bar tender. At the end she forgot to both take and drop off our check as well, and had a lot of excuses for that too. The restaurant was not busy by then 🤷🏽‍♂️ The food was great though.

   Upon walking in you feel a cool and cozy vibe. Friendly and attentive service. Food was fabulous!! The lemon cake with buttercream hibiscus icing is well worth it and totally shareable.

   Excellent Sunday brunch menu! Our group enjoyed every bite and the wonderful drinks. Really enjoyed the "jazzed up" coffee! Good service and really fun surroundings/decor. Highly recommend. Glad that someone who had been told me to make a reservation several weeks in advance of my trip to Roanoke.

    Great little spot in Grandin. Swordfish, shrimp and scallops were phenomenal and desserts amazing! Friendly and efficient service, did not feel rushed.

    Food was barely at room temperature. Had I not been so hungry I would have sent back. My other guests had relatable problems. Not the usual LR experience, kind of shocked.

    I love Local Roots! But unlike our last visit New Year’s Eve, this one was loud and crowded. Not the Valentines dinner I was aiming for. The service was good but wait staff was stretched across the room, which meant delays in service as we noticed others looking around for staff. One recommendation for the noise is to turn down the music and add sound baffles. Swordfish was great! Beets were a bold choice.

    We were looking for healthy menu choices, Local Roots has several good choices but wish there were more leafy greens/salad choices. Wine menu is limited for Cabernet Sauvignon selections but overall the quality of food is good.

    I just wish there were a few additional options for Gluten Free. This is our 'go to' restaurant and I'm always very limited as to my options throughout all the plate size options.

    It has been a little while since I have been back to Local Roots, and as usual, Local Roots never fails to impress. We had the soup, which I believe is carrot soup and it was absolutely delicious. It could’ve been a meal in itself. Both my guest and I had the scallops and shrimp papparadelle. It was obvious that the pasta was homemade which really complemented the sauce and scallops and shrimp. The scallops were cooked to perfection along with perfectly done shrimp. For dessert we both had a pear cake. It was absolutely unbelievably delicious. We are looking forward to the next time. One of the things that we like the most is that the menu changes often and we are able to indulge ourselves with fresh take of chicken, fish, steak among meatless options. I highly recommend checking this place out. You will not be disappointed.

    We came here for breakfast one Sunday. The eggs Benedict were so amazing we came back the following weekend for dinner. Fantastic dinner! A new favorite place for us.

    Place had a great vibe and was very crowded on a Sat night. Our server came over shortly after we sat down, but when we needed a few minutes to decide, it took a very long time before she returned to our table. The chicken dish I ordered was then sold out. The butternut squash soup was delicious, but not hot. My husband’s steak was fatty. The server explained they were understaffed and no doubt the wait staff was working hard. It was a lovely restaurant, but I was disappointed in my experience that evening.

    If I could give it 6 stars I would. The swordfish and Asian slaw was one of the best dishes we have ever had. We ate at the bar rather than wait for our table and had exceptional attention. The delay in our table was odd and I wonder if using Open Table was a factor. Either way, we will be back!!

    Food was delicious! We did have to wait for drinks and the bill. Waitress wasn't the best and they weren't that busy. Besides the service I would recommend this restaurant. I did see others getting very good service from other servers. I think this was an isolated experience for us.

    Creative and really like the focus on local sourcing. Overall good quality. Some of the bread was a bit dry. The chocolate flourless cake needed to be a bit warmer. But overall very good.

    Waitress took away our food before we were finished. Took 10mins go get syrup for my French toast. But they were understaffed so im sure the waitress was flustered. Food, as always, was delicious.
