I had fun with my friends at this hidden-gem of a restaurant and definitely see myself going back. The restaurant space itself is very nice -- industrial-ish with an informal but not-too-casual feel. Drinks were great, food was great, service was nice and we had a good time. There were two vegetarians in the party and they were easily able to accommodate us both with their menu options and any customizations we needed. They also accept Open Table tab, which was convenient since we had to get to a movie shortly after dinner.
Everything was perfect!!! But the tortellini with pork was to die for!!! Amazing!!
Our waiter was wonderful and the atmosphere was enjoyable. It's a great neighborhood spot with the wood burning oven making for a very cozy feel inside. Our appetizer was very late coming out so it ended up being removed from our bill. The pizza was flavorful, but the crust was lacking. The best thing we had was the tortellini with pork- we'd come back just for that! Great selection of wines and beers too.
It was kind of crowded and the service took a long while to take the order.
Love that I can get amazing wines for really reasonable prices. Makes it reasonable to drink good wine on pizza night!
We came here for a short weekend break in SF. Walked over from the Marriott Marquis. We came in early for our reservation and they were able to accommodate us. Although we don't drink wine, we were invited to a wine event which I though was good to tell us. We ordered the Soft Scramble-eggs, roasted mushrooms, crescenza cheese, broccoli rabe, and fingerling potatoes. What a fantastic, hearty, tasty meal! Everything was seasoned well, the potatoes had lots of flavor but were crispy, too. We also ordered the Funghi Pizza-wild and tame mushrooms, no tomato sauce and the cheese was not overwhelming, on a thin crust. Would order the pizza again in a heartbeat. We threw in a cheddar biscuit for good measure-soft, light, crunchy crust and with a bit of honey butter it was outstanding!
The food was great. The pizza was delicious. The appetizers were very good. They had a great hightop area for a large group. Only problem we had was with the service. It was pretty slow and then our waiter disappeared for about 15-20 mins. I think the manager took over our table at some point and her service was quick. The food is great, so it's worth a stop in. Just plan for a longer meal.
Awesome brunch! Very well prepared and delicious food. Everyone in our party was quite pleased! We will be back.
nice place to have a casual dinner, pizza cooked in front of you at the bar
Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. What a little gem!
The place was cool, but the pizza, although tasty, was cold in the center.
Delicious food and an amazing staff. Definitely looking forward to dining there again.
Food quality has slipped considerably since I was there 6 months ago
One of our favorite spots!!
Server was nice but was training someone which made her very distracted and slow. Once she finally got the order the food came out fast.
Good experience w friends and family
Extremely slow service during a time when the restaurant was noticeably empty.
I had the kale, quinoa salad which had no flavor to speak of, and next to no quinoa. Suggest using a tahini dressing and and more vegetables.
My husband had a burger that caused stomach upset.
We will not be returning.
Overall restaurant, food, and service were good. Disappointed that their open table menu had vegan tofu scramble. Called the restaurant to confirm and they don’t do that anymore but, said they would make a note we had a vegan diner and be happy to oblige. Did they? NO. Don’t promise and not deliver.
I would have thought this place had never done brunch service before, but apparently they’ve been doing it for years. First: it’s unclear how to get seated when you walk in. There are stairs, a room to the left, and a large door in the front. Once I went in no one was staffing the host station so I stood around for a while and wondered if the place was even open it was so empty. I was seated but the table was wobbly and it took another 10 minutes to place a drink order and 15 more to get my drink. I ordered a biscuit while I waited for my friend and it came without the honey butter. Also, the menu is much more limited than what you see on Open Table. When my friend arrived his seat was wobbly and it took him another ten minutes to get a drink. They forgot to bring me silverware with my meal and when my friend ordered an additional pancake it took another 20 minutes to get because apparently a large party placed an order first even though the place was mostly empty. They said we would be comped for it and we weren’t and also the open table special was for a free house pastry which we also didn’t get. I see why this place was empty, I won’t be coming back. The people working here were nice but I’ve had better service in an airport Applebee’s.
My girlfriends bday dinner, 6 people total. There could have been 10. Immediately seated. Somewhat busy when we arrived at 8p. Rez was at 830. Hostess was really nice, waiter was nice, a bit slow in the drinks. The food was pretty fast for SF standards. Def would recommend and go again. Really great for groups. Prices were cheaper than thought for 6 people. Very pleased.
Excellent service and food. Enjoyed this place after a crazy week.
The service was quite poor here. The waiter was not very attentive and despite the fact that I ordered a side dish he brought me a main dish version of it. When I pointed out the error he said that he couldn't take it back but he would talk to the chef. He never came back to our table to give an update. I was then charged for the whole main dish. When I asked to only be charged for the side dish that I had originally ordered, and only ate the amount of what the side dish was, he told me that since I had eaten off that plate that I had to be charged the full amount.
The service would have been a 5 if it wasn’t for our waitress who reminded us that the table was needed at 8 even though the hostess and I had a discussion it was at 8:15. She simply stated they may come early
Ridiculous but the hostess and the rest of the restaurant is great, we go often
The grumpy hostess sat us on a broken table. To get a non-broken table we had to sit at a communal dining spot, right next to a group of obnoxiously drunk men, even though the restaurant was at 10-15% occupancy the whole time we were there.
The waitress was nice though, and the appetizers and food was good.
Was a little disappointed that the online menu did not match the restaurant menu. There were more choices on line. Had the sausage pesto pizza special. I don't think there was any Pesto on it. Nice chili flakes but no sign of basil.
Been here three times. Very reliable. Good selection of food. Able to have a quick lunch or dinner or take your time. Cozy modern design too!
Birthday but the hostess didn’t read that.
I’ve been to Local Kitchen and Wine Merchant several times and love the food! I took two friends who were visiting San Francisco for the first time, so I had to take them to my favorite restaurant and it did not disappoint. The food is very fresh and tasty and the servers are very friendly as well. My favorites are the brick oven pizzas and the tortellini dish. Also, the atmosphere is very comfortable and relaxing to have dinner and catch up with friends.
They were very helpful accommodating our two kids and stroller, and had berry pancakes that were the bomb.
This has been our Go-To before we hit the bridge happy hour or quick dinner for years now.
Love the place.
Great tastes, however, this time the tofu appetizer (delicious) but was heavy on salt.
Better next time, I am sure.
Great pizza, wonderful salad. Salmon was a little dry.
Friendly service, helpful with recommendations and lovely atmosphere!
Had to wait at the hostess stand for a while before we were greeted. Food was good but the place was dirty; food on the floor, cobwebs, dirty tables, dust on ledges. Seems the management has given up trying to keep the place clean.
It is a nice place to have a sit down and have a nice lunch.
We had a reservation for 5:30 when they opened for dinner. We were a few minutes early, and could see the servers having a powow in the back, so we sat down just outside. 5:30 came and went and no sign of anyone near the front desk. We didn't actually end up going in until after a few other patrons arrived to go to the bar hidden around the corner.
After the servers realized we were there to be seated, they were attentive. We split a salad, which they offered to split onto two plates for no charge, and then split a pizza. Salad was fine, pizza wasn't the best. The crust was a bit burned on the edge and the pizza itself didn't blow me away.
Wish the menu could have a little more variety - a chicken entrée or something; and more gluten free options. But service is friendly and attentive. Boss's birthday lunch and appreciated the special cheesecake. Thank you!
Lovely attentive service, good wines and great pizza!
Waiter was attentive but took a long time to order, prepare and get our order. We arrived before the lunch crowd and place our order for two Croque sandwiches and a salad. It took 30+ minutes. And the sandwiches were luke warm at best in the middle.
