Hidden gem! We would definitely return.
Couldn’t have asked for a better experience of my first time dining out in the city after restrictions eased. From the host to our server, everyone on staff was so nice. The ambience was casual and even cozy. I went here with my friends to celebrate my birthday, but I would describe the food here as so good that this restaurant would be my “regular” place if I worked/lived nearby.
Food is fine and outdoor parklets are as good as possible given the location. Service however and the food took an extremely long time.
Loved the food and the service. Staff is amazing. Thank you for a great experience and an awesome evening!
Server didn’t execute order correctly. Didn’t offer any alternatives.
This place has great service, good food, and a nice ambience. It is a Wonderful neighborhood restaurant as well as an escape for others outside the neighborhood.
Amazing service and great food, we will be back for sure !
First time visiting
Based on reviews we choose this restaurant as we are overseas visitors and clues to our hotel.
Atmosphere was great. Service impeccable.
Wine list was fabulous (would have been nice to have an ice bucket for the wine)
Two of us chose pizza (which is what we came for), tasteless and very disappointing (I think they forgot to add the sauce base to both pizzas)
The pizza was undercooked and served lukewarm. The chicken noodle soup was lukewarm as well. Also they gave us 1/4 serving of noodle. The cocktails were meh. We spent over a hundred for subpar food.
My friends and I showed up promptly at our reservation time at 12pm and were seated immediately. After about 15 minutes, we were greeted and asked for our order. Around 1pm we started to wonder where our food was since tables that arrived well after us were already eating and by 1:15pm we were able to find and flag down our server. When I let him know we had been waiting almost an hour and a half and that I needed to get back to work, he abruptly left the table, came back 5 minutes later and offered us 50% off our meals. When I agreed and asked that he put it in a to-go box because I needed to get back to the office, he informed me that they hadn't even started cooking it! I ended up leaving after 2 hours without any food.
We were the first party there at 11:30am, but no one came to greet and seat us. Then, by the time they finally took our order, which was very delayed, all of the meals we wanted were sold out. Plus, they never made one of the pizzas ordered and had to refund us. Once delivered, the food was sub par. Won’t return if this is this is the level of service to be expected. Would not recommend. The service was disjointed and the food was not worth the cost or wait. Extremely disappointed!
The largely positive reviews brought my husband and I there for dinner during our weekend trip to SF. One third of the menu was unavailable (pizza dough was over-consumed in days prior) as was the lamb burger. We ordered the Green Papaya salad, “Blended Burger Project” and the chicken curry. It all sounded more promising than it was; everything had flavor, but I would have expected more based on the descriptions. Underwhelming, at best. The drinks weren’t great either.
Great find in a not-so-trod part of town. The happy hour was empty but nonetheless had a decent deal or 2 available. The dinner service was great and menu options creative and tasty. Wine paired with my lamb burger was spot on contributing to a awesome flavor memory. I will be back - potentially with other friends or even by myself if I find myself solo some evening.
We were refugees from the fires up north and they took very good care of us. Saturday was a quiet night there—it’s more of a neighborhood apres work place.
Great wine list, great food. Everything was beautifully plated and delicious.
I went to Local for my birthday. I believe My servers name was Pudja, she was helpful and on top of service without being smothering.
The menu was interesting and the food exceptional! Plenty of vegetarian and vegan items too!
I've been to Local probably about 20 or 30 times, but only ever for brunch; this was my first time there for dinner and it did not disappoint. I always imagined the prices would be much higher for dinner since the ambiance is relatively nice - and I suppose the average price point is a bit higher for the dinner menu - but I am surprised at the value you get for how much you pay. Such a deal. Staff is great, management is very friendly. Can't wait to come back. There was so much that I wanted to try - and I know the menus very with a regular frequency, so I hope I find myself there again soon!
As a group of 4 people on a business lunch, Local is close to our office and offers some interesting options as well as vegetarian menu options. The food was good, we received the food promptly and it was good (we had a range of options from burgers to mains dishes that were rice bowls, etc).
The service was a little off - we have had good service here before so I was surprised by the waiter's awkwardness and the meal was a bit off with the hostess taking our order (totally fine) but then the waiter hovering and then effectively taking plates when people were still grazing on sides... guess we were holding the table too long, but it was a Tuesday and the restaurant was not busy... Just a bit awkward and not quite what we have had there before for business lunches
Great management, food and ambiance!
Our usual spot. Convenient timely and delicious. Lovely server. Great casual dinner spot. See you next time!
Great hidden find on an unassuming street.
Best burger I have had. Ever. It’s amazing. How did I not know this was here...
Pizzas were delicious, crust was crispy and flavorful.
Veggie Pizza... no cheese with a cauliflower purée. Wow!
Burger... apparently they won a James Beard award for the burger. Amazing.
Chicken Curry. Comfort food at its best!
Service was attentive. Ambiance - beautiful space, chill. Great by yourself or with a group.
I will come back often or order delivery. Literally 1 block from my house. Hidden Gem!!
Food, cocktails and service were outstanding. I love being able to enjoy conversation with a dining companion in a quiet, relaxing space. I got to catch up with an old friend visiting from out-of-town. It was perfect.
The service and food was spot on - didn't order too much but I had the Laksa noodle dish with shrimp and it was the perfect combination and size. A friend and I chose to catch up at Local Kitchen on a quiet weekday night. After we finished, we sat for some time, enjoying the ambiance and each other's company. Sometimes, you're made to feel like you ought to get up and leave if you're through with your meal but, instead, we were sent glasses of sparkling wine to enjoy while we finished our time together. SO thoughtful and sweet and clearly left a lasting impression. I'll definitely be back!
Asma was our server she is outstanding!
Absolutely delicious new menu! Always a lovely experience. Hope to see their business pick up a bit, because the restaurant is really quite good.
Found the restaurant no problem but it is near the stadium and there was a giants game tonight - super trafficy getting there so just a heads up if there’s a game , pad your time.
Food is delicious, new chef Nora is doing a great job. Started with 5 spice cauliflower appetizer with pistachio sambala- soooo good. Laksa noodles with shrimp for main course, not too spicy, nice broth (could do better if it had with more than just three shrimp!) and very tasty! Others in the group had flatbread and the James Beard award winning burger, 60% meat / 40 % shitake, loved!
Only downfall is all of our food did not come out together, usually not a big deal but there was a very large gap in food timing and half the group was almost an with dinner before the other half got their food. Still, even at that I would still go back! Great experience overall!
The new menu is not great....
We went to celebrate the life of Anthony Bourdain and to finally taste Chef Nora’s delicious Singaporean dishes. The food was exquisite - every dish a marvel including the hamburger, the best we’ve ever eaten!
Great neighborhood spot with amazing new food selection!
My friend and I ordered a burger and pizza as we were less interested in the Singaporean food.
Great ambience and the food was amazing. What a great twist/fusion between Californian and Southeast Asian cuisine.
A new menu in this familiar spot. Just a comfortable place for an easy local dinner. Interested wines too.
The new menu is exciting and we'll definitely be back to explore other items. We tried the satay, burger, chicken rice, burrata pizza and the black sesame cheesecake - they were fantastic!
Menu is pretty limited, especially the salads
I met a friend at open table to have dinner later in the evening. The service was very good and the food was reasonably priced. This is a place I would certainly recommend!
New menu and chef is terrific!
Love the new pizza crust and sauce too!
Sadly, the menu to our favorite neighborhood spot changed lately. The variety is limited. There are only about 2 entrees that are not Indonesian. Even the happy hour menu leans that way. I miss the spicy chicken bites !! We tried the chicken curry, it was just ok. We will keep trying new things as we love this place. They need a protein rich salad and simple grilled meats and veggies. Current menu, all are carb heavy.
Food and bar were great, as always. The burger with mushrooms is a winner. This is a place we repeat often, for happy hour and dinner too. It’s consistent and in our neighborhood
