Our usual spot. Convenient timely and delicious. Lovely server. Great casual dinner spot. See you next time!
Great hidden find on an unassuming street.
Best burger I have had. Ever. It’s amazing. How did I not know this was here...
Pizzas were delicious, crust was crispy and flavorful.
Veggie Pizza... no cheese with a cauliflower purée. Wow!
Burger... apparently they won a James Beard award for the burger. Amazing.
Chicken Curry. Comfort food at its best!
Service was attentive. Ambiance - beautiful space, chill. Great by yourself or with a group.
I will come back often or order delivery. Literally 1 block from my house. Hidden Gem!!
Food, cocktails and service were outstanding. I love being able to enjoy conversation with a dining companion in a quiet, relaxing space. I got to catch up with an old friend visiting from out-of-town. It was perfect.
The service and food was spot on - didn't order too much but I had the Laksa noodle dish with shrimp and it was the perfect combination and size. A friend and I chose to catch up at Local Kitchen on a quiet weekday night. After we finished, we sat for some time, enjoying the ambiance and each other's company. Sometimes, you're made to feel like you ought to get up and leave if you're through with your meal but, instead, we were sent glasses of sparkling wine to enjoy while we finished our time together. SO thoughtful and sweet and clearly left a lasting impression. I'll definitely be back!
Asma was our server she is outstanding!
Absolutely delicious new menu! Always a lovely experience. Hope to see their business pick up a bit, because the restaurant is really quite good.
Found the restaurant no problem but it is near the stadium and there was a giants game tonight - super trafficy getting there so just a heads up if there’s a game , pad your time.
Food is delicious, new chef Nora is doing a great job. Started with 5 spice cauliflower appetizer with pistachio sambala- soooo good. Laksa noodles with shrimp for main course, not too spicy, nice broth (could do better if it had with more than just three shrimp!) and very tasty! Others in the group had flatbread and the James Beard award winning burger, 60% meat / 40 % shitake, loved!
Only downfall is all of our food did not come out together, usually not a big deal but there was a very large gap in food timing and half the group was almost an with dinner before the other half got their food. Still, even at that I would still go back! Great experience overall!
The new menu is not great....
We went to celebrate the life of Anthony Bourdain and to finally taste Chef Nora’s delicious Singaporean dishes. The food was exquisite - every dish a marvel including the hamburger, the best we’ve ever eaten!
Great neighborhood spot with amazing new food selection!
My friend and I ordered a burger and pizza as we were less interested in the Singaporean food.
Great ambience and the food was amazing. What a great twist/fusion between Californian and Southeast Asian cuisine.
A new menu in this familiar spot. Just a comfortable place for an easy local dinner. Interested wines too.
The new menu is exciting and we'll definitely be back to explore other items. We tried the satay, burger, chicken rice, burrata pizza and the black sesame cheesecake - they were fantastic!
Menu is pretty limited, especially the salads
I met a friend at open table to have dinner later in the evening. The service was very good and the food was reasonably priced. This is a place I would certainly recommend!
New menu and chef is terrific!
Love the new pizza crust and sauce too!
Sadly, the menu to our favorite neighborhood spot changed lately. The variety is limited. There are only about 2 entrees that are not Indonesian. Even the happy hour menu leans that way. I miss the spicy chicken bites !! We tried the chicken curry, it was just ok. We will keep trying new things as we love this place. They need a protein rich salad and simple grilled meats and veggies. Current menu, all are carb heavy.
Food and bar were great, as always. The burger with mushrooms is a winner. This is a place we repeat often, for happy hour and dinner too. It’s consistent and in our neighborhood
So fantastic! Local Kitchen & Wine Merchant always do a great job. We are so pleasantly surprised every time we have lunch or dinner there. The staff is pleasant, attentive and fun. Thank you for making every visit memorable. We so appreciate everything you do and all the small details you cover.
Atmosphere is great, food is mediocre, particularly fried items all seem to be overcooked. The fried okra was hard and chewy. fried chicken sandwich was overbreaded and overfried.
Menu has changed. I really like the idea of Indonesian/SE Asian food in SOMA but this isn't it. Most of the food was flavorless, especially the special "Tom Yam" soup. And even the pizza which is normally a standard, is now meh. Unfortunately a pass.
This is our fav neighborhood spot. Consistently good food, service and value. Very comfortable atmosphere Open kitchen and great wine selection. Happy hour is great, good food and drink prices
Such a great brunch. We had the Singapore Chicken Rice and the Burger. Plus the tequila cocktail and the mezcal cocktail. Chef Nora’s chicken rice was like I was back in Singapore. The burger was perfect and the fries were hearty. The cocktails were tasty and strong. The service, our server Miche, was amazing, friendly, and you could tell he loves the menu and chef Nora. He recommended we go back for dinner and we will definitely do that.
Good pizzas. Fast, friendly service. Not too expensive for San Francisco.
We arrived (3 of us) before noon and the maître d' was on the phone so we waited to be seated... and we waited and waited for at least 10 minutes just standing there waiting for him to finish his call. Nobody else came to seat us. We finally sit down. Two other parties (one of 2 and one of 6) sit down well after us on either side. Their entrees are served and we wait. And wait so long that the couple next to us are almost half done eating. + she ordered the same burger with salad that we did. A pizza was served on the other table. We ask three different servers where are meals are before our 2 burgers and Singapore chicken dish are finally served. Clearly they forgot about our order. Since it was a business meal, did not make a fuss and just paid the bill. Took almost 1-1/2 hrs. I like their food but this is not the first time the wait time to get an entrée served is exceedingly long.
The Singapore chicken was fabulous. It was flavorful, hearty and just the right amount for lunch. Our server was attentive and provided great suggestions for lunch. It had been awhile since I was there and I'll definitely go back again sooner than anticipated!
Waited almost a full hour without getting the entrees during a business meal. Given the timing, I paid the check prior to receiving the food and asked for it to be packed in a box.
Reliable for a good food experience, and occasionally exceptional. It also offers some conveniences: parking is usually good; it is near the Bay Bridge, so when meeting East Bay friends in SF, it offers an easy exit back to the EB. The ambiance is modern yet classic, warm, and personal. This is my uncomplicated choice for a quality neighborhood meal.
Nice cozy and quiet place; not overwhelmingly noisy, like so many other SF restaurants. Great food, great service!
This review is for brunch only - I am a follower of Chef Nora Haron ever since I've sampled her food at now defunct Dripline in Oakland. She combines the best of California with Singaporean cuisine - for example, her chicken rice is not like the chicken rice "Hainan style" - she does not poach her chicken, but flash fry it with no breadding. Chicken is marinated in Koji, and her jasmine rice is spot on delicious and truly authentic. She uses sourdough for waffles and pizza dough, among other dishes she creates - it is extraordinary good, with crunch texture and taste; best use of sourdough! Other dishes - whether she introduces you something from Singapore/Malaysia/UAE - they are crafted with her own uniqueness and delicious. Just don't show up at brunch and ask for stuff not on the menu, like eggs Benedict. If you do, you are at the wrong restaurant. Bring as many friends as you can, and share everything. That is the proper way to enjoy her food and also be a hero for introducing your foodie friends to the magic of Chef Nora.
Great pizza!! The broiled salmon was also outstanding!! Too bad, no bread and butter:((
Great food and ambiance! Love the candle light, it sets a romantic mood.
Very accommodating service and good knowledge of their wines and beer selection
Food was outstanding and tasty
Did not try the pizza but it looked amazing
Came here for a casual dinner with a friend near his place. First, the service was wonderful! I appreciated that Brian regularly checked up on us but did not wait around (as we just wanted to talk to each other). He did stay in our sight line in case we wanted something-great combo.
I had amazing wine (I forget what) and my friend loved his beer. The ambiance was just right.
As for the food, I wish I lived closer! His pizza was so juicy and tasty and my pasta was just the right amount of pasta v sauce.
We didn’t use their private dining areas (for parties) but I could see they were gorgeous!
I will definitely be back!
Very rustic and quaint. Casual and fun. Was perfect for a team dinner.
Our team was in town for the DreamForce conference and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. Appetizers were wonderful, Impossible burger was excellent, good wine selection, knowledgeable and attentive wait staff.
Great local joint. I love how the bartender really care about keeping the bar clean and neat.
Food was overpriced and not very good. Service was bad. One server for whole restaurant
