Great food and vibe.
A lovely neighborhood Greek restaurant that was discovered.! I have been numerous times for dinner. Don't go without a reservation. Staff are friendly and food well prepared and served. Restaurant is small so can get a bit noisy, but with a good group of friends who minds?
Great experience. Wonderful host and George was fantastic waiter. Followed his recommendations and were not disappointed.
Went during restaurant week with my cousin for some bonding time and we both loved everything about the restaurant. Def worth making a reservation!
The food itself was great. Probably some of the best greek food I've had in NJ. My issue is with the value for a "restaurant week" deal. We paid $20 each for a salad and sandwich where the full value would have been $24 if we ordered off of the regular menu. The salad was significantly smaller than the regular menu salad and the gyro's and sandwiches we ordered also were probably a quarter smaller than their non restaurant week equivalent. They seem to have missed the point of restaurant week.
Would go again but the experience wasn't what it should have been.
Good Greek will return
Service was excellent note it is a BYOB
Local Greek has been a wonderful addition to the Princeton dining scene. We go there for brunch or lunch pretty regularly and the whole family loves the food and the service. The serves and the owners are really friendly, warm, and kind. We have taken friends visiting from Manhattan and Brooklyn and they also loved the food, ambiance and the service. Their Greek spreads, Tomato Fresco, and gyro are special favorites.
Our second time at the restaurant. Again, it was a hit. The food is fantastic. The service friendly and attentive. The mixed grill is huge and full of various meats and cheese. The chicken souvlaki was perfectly cooked and served with tangy lemon potatoes and greens. The beef gyro spectacular. Tomatoes, onions and tzatziki. The pita warm. Excellent baklava and Greek donuts.
We chose Local Greek to prepare for our upcoming trip to Greece and were delighted by our waiter's enthusiastic response and delicious recommendations!
The food is always fresh and delicious. The service is wonderful. One of our favorite places!
We booked Local Greek for my Father's birthday. We were a party of six. The food was amazing and came out quickly and piping hot. However, the dining rooms were so jam packed that I am sure it was a fire code violation. The waitress couldn't even get to our table to take our order, she had to lean over the next table down and yell at us. The person sitting at the table behind us was so close that her hair was brushing against my back the entire meal. Our table was so small that they had to remove our drink glasses and the floral arrangement (lavender) on the table to make room for our food. No only were the tables jam packed but there were about 10 people waiting by the door for a table the entire time. It kind of ruined the evening for us to feel like we were packed in like sardines.
Excellent Greek food in the Princeton area.
Great find off the main drag in downtown Princeton. The place was packed when we were there. Tables are very close together and overall the noise level was very high.
Appetizers were excellent. Mains mixed - they had run out of several dishes by 7 and some of the meat was overcooked but the flavors were wonderful. Very friendly wait staff.
We would go again if in the area.
Small family owned and operated Greek restaurant. Was met at the door with a friendly smile and it just got better from there. Waiter was very helpful in explaining the different dishes and made recommendation based on our tastes. The food was excellent, staff was very friendly and the ambiance was as you would expect from a small local eatery. We sat near two large groups, so it was a little loud, but not overwhelming. Parking can be tough, since it is located in a residential section of Princeton, but well worth the trip. Recommend reservations.
Found this restaurant by happenstance and am totally impressed. Quaint Greek restaurant with interesting menu, including several breakfast options (breakfast is served anytime of the day$, appetizers, Salads, soups, sandwiches, and full lunch/dinner plates. I had the lemon chicken soup which was excellent; the chicken gyro was good, although I prefer the traditional lamb; my husband had the Greek sausage which was very good. Reservations are recommended since there is limited seating.
Friendly and fun with good food. Great appetizers, mezze plate too big.
The restaurant is fantastic. The decor and ambiance is cozy and the service attentive. The warm pita bread was accompanied by olive oil. The zucchini fritters were crispy outside and creamy inside. The tzatsiki was light and fresh. The saganaki was crispy and rich. The gyros were huge and filled with delicious meat, tomatoes and cucumbers. The lemon potatoes were cooked well and were filled with lemon taste. The baklava was probably the best I have ever had in a restaurant. It was thick and decadent. Overall, a fantastic restaurant that I would recommend to everyone!!! Delicious.
The atmosphere is charming and cozy. Waitstaff was attentive. We ordered the 4 spreads (opting to double up on the tarmasalota in lieu of spicy hummus). They were flexible with that, but we truly just wanted two spreads which they would not accommodate. They kept refilling the pita basket with wonderful warm grilled wedges of pita. My partner had the spinach pie which was delicious and I had the lamb skewers which were over cooked and tough. The lemony roasted potatoes that came with the lamb were lovely! We will continue to come to Local Greek and try other items. Last time we were there we had the mixed grill (they accommodated our no pig): the entree was fantastic and bountiful! We were there when they had live music and dancing, adding to the authenticity of the restaurant 😊
We were very excited to try this place based on some reviews. Food was just not very good. Food was very bland. Tried several things on the menu, none were great; one inedible.
Great food and a younger, more fun crowd than a typical Princeton restaurant. They couldn't cram another seat in the place if they wanted to and that makes for a very loud meal. A bit on the pricey side, but it's a BYO with no corking fee, so you make your money back that way. Very much enjoyed it and will definitely be back, just maybe not on a Friday night (we did have reservations).
Excellent Greek food and super friendly staff. Prices are very high, even for Princeton.
We love Local Greek! The staff, from
Waiters to busboys are extremely attentive. Food is always delicious and we love the atmosphere (slightly off the Princeton beaten path)! Keep rocking’ on!
Local Greek was terrific! The food was tremendous and portions were large. The service was terrific and the recommendations were spot on. It was our first time at the restaurant and we will definitely be coming back.
Service could be a little refined. The place is beautiful a little tight but gives a cozy feel
Local Greek is a nice place but on the pricey side. We went on a Saturday for lunch and didn’t realize that they also offer breakfast. Food is pretty good. The salad with dried figs and avocado was delicious. My lamb kebab however was overcooked. It was very busy and noisy (energetic?). If you prefer quiet I would recommend going off peak.
Great Greek food...lively atmosphere...local gem...byob
Friendly, neighborhood eating place. Decor was very hip and food was delicious. Fantastic service!
We ordered three main courses, non of them was edible. They saw and took three plates fully and we paid $100. I’m a local and genuinely think and hope there was no cook in the kitchen that night.
Very crowded for Valentine’s Day but a lot of fun! The platter for two is HUGE but delicious, definitely don’t need to order anything else
Based on reviews we had read beforehand, the restaurant was more open and less loud than we had expected, and it was Valentine's Day so it wasn't slow or anything. Very cozy and lively atmosphere. We were graciously greeted by the owner, and our waiter was superb. He was from Athens, and we really appreciated the authenticity of the entire experience as we have spent a significant amount of time in Greece and have been waiting to find a decent Greek place anywhere in NJ. A few fast food places have recently opened and they're ok, but this is the real deal and a wonderful place for date night! It's pricey, though, which may or may not matter to you. We brought our own wine and still managed to run up a tab of nearly $130, but we were deliberately extravagant, and the food we ordered was all cooked and prepared to perfection.
Super loved the food and service! Excellent for vegetarians and meat lovers too! Quality food at a great price! Highly recommend. Dress in layers;it gets hot as your sitting close to others. Fun environment!
A friend and I went there at 5:30 on a Tuesday night to catch up on our college days and it was perfect! Didn’t feel rushed and the staff was great! Will definitely be coming back.
Loved it! Everything was so fresh and delicious. Great variety. Beautiful atmosphere.
Very good place for Greek food in Princeton. Great food all around and also very friendly service.
Small venue and very noisy inside (even at 8pm on a Sunday night) but all of the food was fantastic. Ordered the flaming cheese and octopus appetizers, and all of the entrees (mostly lamb) were delicious. We will be coming back!
Great food and very casual ambience. Real Greek food in Princeton
Brunch was sufficiently brunchy, but I’d really like to go back to try their Greek specials on the menu. Interior is modern yet rustic. Will be back!
We were seated 30 min after our reservation time, and there was no area to comfortably wait in the restaurant!
