Beautiful new upscale restaurant in Foley. I am thrilled about their opening! All food tasted excellent. Halibut, Caesar salad and calamari were perfect. Nice bar. . I will definitely recommend them and plan to return soon.
My wife and I were very excited about trying Local & Company especially after a strong referral from a co-worker. Since it takes about 35 minutes to get there from Daphne home, I was hoping it was worth it. Bottom line...Not so much. The ambiance was interesting in that it was an ex armory transformed with high ceiling and pipes intact. The decor did lack for color or artwork or something to warm it up a little.
As for the food....shared 2 apps ..calamari was overcooked, chopped salad needed more spice or zest to it. My entree was the sauteed halibut on a bed of corn relish and fried okra and while tasty and ample serving size, it came out less than warm. My wife had the organic farro with grilled shrimp and an assortment of veggies. She felt this was the best dish of the night and took home leftovers.
With prices in the $24-32 range, I expect a quality meal. While the food was decent, at that price it should have been excellent. Many more places closer to home or toward Orange Beach I prefer.
First, the food we had was excellent in terms of quality and taste. Service was also great. I would have given a 5 star rating, but......there was one significant issue. We didn’t like the sides offered with several of the entrees. The restaurant was unwilling to change the sides with any dish! They would not even change sweet potatoes for mashed potatoes- even though mash was offered with other entrees. We probably ruled out 5 entrees we would have liked to try and had to settle for something that had the sides we liked.
I have not seen any other high end restaurant in our area (e.g Jesse’s, Jackson’s, or Alice’s ) with no flexibility to switch pre-set sides, to those offered with other entrees on the menu. The server was unable to help, and the host said she would pass on our concerns. All I can say is that if you continue with this policy, it will severely limit your business.
This is a brand new restaurant in Foley and we were very impressed with the food, atmosphere and the service. We shared two appetizers, a salad, pizza and the clam linguini. Everything was wonderful and we have all agreed that this restaurant is a "do over" very soon!
Finally an Excellent restaurant in Foley that has as much flair as the menu. Food was excellent, ambiance pleasant and overall a homerun. Diverse menu for any appetite including artisan Flatbread (pizza) in a brick fire oven. The only suggestion I would make is to have an option of a GF cracker or bread for the Guacamole and Hummus. Cant wait to try out the other menu items and see whats on the lunch menu which is in the planning stages now.
No coat service, wine glass wasn’t stemware, no insulation for chilled wine bottle, appetizers list could of been better, had reservations and table wasn’t prepared and confusion on which table to be seated at, we were served with two different plates leaving the meal looking askued, food was delicious....overall other aesthetics were pleasing.
Thank you! Finally!!! We are so grateful for this new spot. Extremely good and reasonably priced. Fantastic atmosphere.
Finally, fine dining in Foley! Beautiful facility renovation. Food and service was excellent. Only one suggestion- bread in some form should be served. I love my bread and consider it a necessary dining element. Thanks for the opportunity to provide feedback. Also love the online reservation service. Chuck Woods
Wow! Local and Company did not disappoint. The food and service was first class. No detail was overlooked in the renovation of the old Armory. One of the owners visited with us and shared their vision for the restaurant and what they want to bring to the community. Foley is blessed to have this new "energy" in town!
Great steaks and great service
Excellent food and service!
Local did not disappoint! The food was outstanding! The only drawback was that there is no children’s menu. There were several children dining, including our own, and they had to order from the adult menu. Thank goodness for pizza (which was delicious btw). Other than that, we had a fantastic experience and will be back.
Wow! Where do you start? Foley has never had a restaurant of this caliber. I travel extensively, always looking for good restaurants wherever I go. Now there is a great restaurant where I live. They did a remarkable job remodeling this historic building. The whole experience was as good as (maybe better than) anything New Orleans has to offer. Let's hope Foley can support this jewel. Highly Recommended.
The food was great and the staff was so friendly.
Wonderful experience start to finish! Great shopping as well in the delightful gift shop!
Finally a decent upscale restaurant in Foley. I’m so damn tired of driving 30 miles to get a decent drink or 3 and a good meal (quit Jessie’s b/c $18 McAllen 12).
Went opening night (couldn’t wait). Pizza Margarita appetizer was decent but thought the crust needed some attention. Couple salmon orders, one halibut and a chicken dish. Each one of us thought that the plates were good (especially for opening night). Decent and moderately priced drinks and wine list.
Once they get the wrinkles ironed out, this place will cost Southwood and Global Grill some of my dining dollars.
