Local 92 Ratings and Reviews
I love its location and they have great outdoor seating come spring, but the food seems to be an afterthought. Hummus and pita bread is fantastic, but bigger dishes disappoint. stale sliders, droopy asparagus, rubbery calamari... and the service was terrible. A man who brought EVERYTHING together (a total pet peeve) so that most gets cold, and no room on the table..and when dishes went back not eaten, he didn't seemed concerned at all. nice decor though.
I was really excited to come across both the excellent reviews and restaurant description for Local 92 - local ingredients, good for vegans, vegetarians, meat eaters alike and they work to help local animal shelters?! Pretty great and definitely a business Id like to support (and perhaps would try again for these reasons...perhaps). My partner did enjoy his entree quite a bit - he got the shakshuka with the cheese like topping and challah bread. It did look great. I was just pretty disappointed with their vegan options for a restaurant claiming to cater to vegans - even stating it on their menu. For starters - they don't specifically note which items on their menu are vegan or can be made vegan and when I asked the server she acted a bit surprised and had to confirm several things. The choices are some salads (server said all though that's not actually the case), hummus with vegetables instead of pita, and falafel and they had a vegan couscous special. The falafel was truly the worst I've ever had - I couldn't taste any seasoning, herbs or flavor in general. Just grease. The vegan couscous was also not what I was expecting - for one it said Israeli couscous which it was not. It was just really very very savory - spices made it difficult to eat for an entire entree. My partner couldn't take more than one bite. The three stars are for my partners good meal, the ambiance and the hummus which was very good but not the best in the world. Overall my comments are not to criticize but critique that if you say you cater to vegans - you actually should and you should do it well.
Im eating in local 92 at list once a week its beautiful place, great to come with a date or just with friends.
Food 5 stars for reasonable prices i call it a good taste from Israel
They have a privet beck room for big party's groups from 10 and more
Probably go there next week as well
Highly recommended !!!
When I think Israel I think local 92 five star service excellent food perfect location we decorate outdoor seating I went there last week with my wife and we cannot stop eating the food be so great from the Hummus till the desert excellent cocktails and then put love in to them can't wait to go back, highly recommended
Was looking for a first date option. This place has the ambience plus incredible food -- way better than I could have expected. I was very impressed and have already recommended it to friends and family. Prices are higher than I would normally spend, but they're worth it. Even an item as simple as the pickle appetizer is amazing.
Just giving the menu a glance did not do justice to the variety and excellence of the dishes. Everything was delicious. We took suggestions and shared 2 plates to begin and followed with soup, salads and other main dishes. Wine suggestion was also quite good. There was some confusion with the waiter because one of our party had to leave and another friend slipped in at a time when the restaurant got busy.
We ended up being rushed at the end since we were going to a performance but it seemed there might not have been enough servers. When the restaurant got crowded it got quite noisy which is to be expected. However they turned the music up so loud we could barely communicate.
Good prices and wonderful food!
Found this spot on OpenTable and after some research decided to give it a try. I made a reservation for six, but two friends had to bail, and Local 92 was accommodating, moving us to a smaller table without a problem. The service was a little awkward and slow, but we were in no rush, so it was actually fitting. We started with drinks (tasty!), the classic hummus, and classic shakshuka. Both were delicious and filling. The pita bread was awesome, too. For our entrees, we got the tuna pizza, quinoa salad, another salad (can't remember the name), and the falafel plate. Everyone was satisfied. Good little spot, and great hummus!
Went with my parents who live abroad. I wanted to have them experience a new cuisine. Also we were 2 blocks from the theater where we saw STOMP.
Food was outstanding, so was the service. Very friendly staff, explaining all the nuisances of Mediterranean food.
We dined early (at about 7:00pm) so the noise was minimal.
Great experience. I'll return for the food! (The hummus was incredibly fresh and tasty, prepared a couple of hours prior...).
There is *way* better Mediterranean/Middle Eastern/Israeli in this city. The place was so loud the server couldn't understand us, and he didn't seem to really care. The food was oily and overpriced for what it is. The bartender butchered my sazerac. I did like the hummus though, and the falafel was ok (but way too small).
Have been here 3 times now and I love it . Went with 3 friends atmosphere was nice and relaxed, food was amazing we had a bunch of appetizers ,loved the beef hummus and cauliflower popcorn . Server Justin was very friendly and chocolate cheesecake was the perfect end to a great dinner .I will definitely be back soon.
Went to Local 92 for their NYE event and we had an amazing experience. The age range of my party was between 5 yrs to 50 yrs and we all really enjoyed every part of the party. I ordered the asparagus salad appetizer, the lamb entree and a banana dessert, and i have to say that i cleaned the 3 plates because it was so delicious. The servers are charming, knowledgeable and very attentive. Even though it was a special event the atmosphere did not feel crowded and the staff was very prepared and organized. I will definitely come back and will recommend to a friend.
We made a reservation at Local 92 for a late Christmas day lunch. We had an incredible experience. The service was attentive and speedy. The food was phenomenal. The hanger steak took the prize for best dish. But we all agreed we could've just gone in and ordered the hummus and pita. Some of the best homemade hummus of all time. We'll absolutely be back!
We are extremely happy about this awesome find.
Everything from the food to the ambiance was really incredible. After my last trip in Israel I had some serious problem on finding the perfect place to enjoy some authentic Israeli food in NYC. The attention on the quality of the ingredients, the friendliness of the staff, the cosiness of the environment made us think right away of a similar night we had in Tel Aviv!
Try the popcorn cauliflower and the fresh mozzarella basket, the slowly cooked lamb shank is to die for.
we will be back and we will recommend to all our friends!...(we also booked for their $65 NYE package)
Local 92 had a great menu--there were so many seemingly delicious options. I ended up getting a falafel plate (the combination of falafel, hummus, pita, and Israeli salad) and shared popcorn cauliflower and the carrot salad with two other people. I was there for my sister's bachelorette party. We had a group of 14, and I was impressed with the quality of the service, especially dealing with such a large group. Everybody loved the food.
