My fist time here and loved it! Amazing food and set up, staff very friendly. I will be back for the roast next time :)
Food was delicious, quick service, lovely cocktails would definitely go again.
Excellent food and great service! The oysters and prawns were delicious and good social distancing.
I understand times are difficult, however the venue is not Covid complaint with tables packed next to one another and when I objected I was told to just sit where I liked. The table was wonky, the food was cold and the cocktail we had was awful. I asked twice fir lobster cracker and ended up having to use a fork to eat a lobster! Was tricky but I got there!! Other guests also noted the spacing issues and everyone did there best to space apart, however this is the restaurants responsibility to manage this, not the customer! We were recommended this space and were looking forward to it, however we were disappointed, with the food and venue. The staff were trying hard and were very nice, but need to rethink things a bit, especially around Covid. The manager did acknowledge there were issues and reduced the bill, so thanks. Keep safe.
Booked here with high hopes to end a fun day out. Photos of their outside courtyard looked nice and the menu looked good.
When we arrived, we were shown quickly to our seat- good start!
However from here, things went downhill...
The tables in the courtyard were crammed in so tightly that customers could barely squeeze through to their seat, and even waitresses struggled. It was chaotic, and definitely not a Covid safe environment. I would have been safer sitting indoors and at a reasonable distance from other diners, rather than the cramped situation outside.
From there, it continued. Waiting service was extremely slow- it took a very long time for us to have our order taken, the tables were set incorrectly- insufficient cutlery and napkins for the number of guests booked- and the waitress has clearly no idea what was going on, or much at all about basic waiting etiquette.
I asked for Pinot Grigio and was served something clearly not a Pinot, after describing to her that it's a white wine (lack of basic wine knowledge). Food and drinks took a very very long time to arrive and my chicken burger was lukewarm. The menu was severely reduced from the main one- acceptable in Covid times, but the choices left on the menu were very illogical and restrictive.
At every point, service was slow and filled me with little confidence in the quality of food or drink being served to us.
We were going to order dessert but having waited 20 minutes to be visited and our table cleared, we were put off and so asked for the bill- another long wait!
Eventually we stood up to leave and went inside to pay- it would have been so easy to leave without paying as when I asked if we could pay, I was told by many people that they didn't know how to take our payment... shocking. I wish we hadn't paid: over £100 for an experience I will not be repeating again.
i would advise not opening until staff are clearly trained & it's been made a Covis- safe environment! Bad experience...
Great food and service ok but way too many people squashed into the outdoor area, it felt cramped and noisy. Didn’t feel comfortable and don’t see how it was safe considering the current restrictions. Even the waitresses couldn’t move around the tables.
Super service as we emerge from this phase of Pandemic
To mark our 50th anniversary, we chose lunch at the Lobster and Grill. Malcolm John, Chef owner, is lucky to have a yard at the rear of the restaurant which he has been able to turn into his restaurant area. Tables are pretty close together but a responsible number of customers were accommodated easily. He has reduced his menu at this time but personally came to ask us whether we wanted anything extra. We chose his duck confit which I know well from earlier visits. We had a glass each of prosecco, and followed with a carafe of sauvignon blanc.. Service by his Romanian waitress and Irina was very good. We had chosen a fine weather day, and the rain held off. Malcom pulled out the stops and put not a foot wrong. A happy 50th for us
Great food and lovely chilled atmosphere thanks to the music played in the background. Not cheap but worth it
Great service! Would recommend ! Thanks so much will be back
Disappointed that 25% NHS discount no longer exists. False advertising.
We always love this restaurant, unfortunately we didn’t actually get to it this time as we were booked in for our 8 wedding anniversary the day we went back into lockdown. We shall love to book back in as soon as the restaurant opens again.
Fab meal pre end of tier 2!.. The mixed grill platter was unreal. Such a shame they must close but hopefully not for long :(
Excellent Sunday roast sharing platter and good value too.
My wife and i had a really nice night here this Saturday 12/ 12 /20.
Food was fabulous and tasty, staff friendly and attentive.
Just one thing i felt the portion size was limited in comparision to the price,
We would have given this place outstanding other than this.
Saying this we would visit again but please increase the portion size so you feel like you've had value for money.
What a great restaurant......
Could do with more on the menu for the people that are not there for the fish. Otherwise a super place with great staff. Will definitely book again.
The owner and Chef Mr. Anthony and all his staff are a well oiled and attentive and a very professional team.
All the food and cocktails served to us - was all superb.
The DJ when allowed to play his music in the Front Bar is also excellent – he will note the mood and is able to play the music that will appeal to all the clientele.
I like Claridge’s & The Ritz in London - followed closely by The Lobster And Grill, Sutton.
Great Food, Our favourite restaurant in the area. We will definitely be back.
My friends & I had a lovely afternoon
Great service & fantastic food!
Brilliant food from start to finish, came back the next day for more
Great Saturday branch menu, excellent choice, fast service. Plenty of space, so perfect for social distancing.
Great food, attentive staff and perfect ambience 10/10!
Had a wee bit of a wait but we'll worth it.Food was delicious.We had 2for £25 Sunday Banquets.😁
Excellent service, food had been a bit hit and miss on previous visits but this was by far the best meal I’ve had here. Steak was cooked to just the right level. No complaints whatsoever.
Food was excellent lots of gluten-free options service was good it was a nice experience and a great birthday treat.
Sunday lunch. Well adapted to Pandemic protocols. Temperature taken on arrival, tables well spaced. Servers recognised us from several previous visits. Still same chef. We each had a bowl of mussels and frites. The mussels were a good size. I finished with a chocolate souffle and ice cream, which nicely melted. A good lunchtime experience at a very reasonable price
Service kind of started as it meant to go on...
Waited 25 minutes for our drinks, our starters came up before them.
We ordered oysters and they hadn’t been loosened from the shell so we had to send them back.
Prawns were over cooked, however the sauce was very nice and the calamari was Very greasy., we didn’t finish them.
Waitress came to take our desert order before we had even had our mains.
The restaurant was only half full at this point so not particularly busy.
Main courses were delicious and would come again for that reason.
Lovely cocktails and friendly staff .
Very nice, enjoyed the food and service was very good
Food was nice, service was good although it wasn’t very busy. Would be good if they offered a lunch menu.
Good food helpful staff lovely peaceful dinning area recommend
We loved it and would definitely recommend it. Thank you for a great evening
Very nice food
Excellent food and service as always!
Its great to be an appreciated NHS worker so thankful for the discount.
Love DJ Jessie, he plays the best tunes in Sutton!! Xx
We have been here several times and wanted to return for Sunday lunch today (26 July). Their website did not say whether they were open again, but a phone call confirmed they were. The refurbishment done just before the lockdown has provided a nice light dining area.
The chefs we recognised, as also the maitre d'. We were the only customers until several arrived at 14.00
I had my favourite chicken liver pate, and my wife 3 lovely scallops as starters. I enjoyed my mains of a pea risotto, and she the sea bass. I finished with a peach melba, rather huge but rather nice! The menu is very meat orientated and I doubt vegetarians would find that much to eat.
The Romanian waitress, who we had not met before, was attentive and efficient.
On entry, out temperatures were quickly taken and there was a hand gel dispenser - otherwise few Covid 19 paraphenalia.
Definitely stays on our list for a repeat visit
Very sad to realise the restaurant was now under a different name with a less extensive menu. Renovations had not been finished
Shut !!! Closed down - building site .
The restaurant has closed for good, so there was no food to eat or restaurant to sit in.
It’s closed . Don’t book still taking bookings it’s duscraceful
Arrived to find the restaurant stripped of everything and permanently closed.
Really special birthday treat for my partner.
I have already complained to open table so am really surprised that you want a review
Wish I could review the restaurant but after buying a Groupon voucher and booking my reservation through Open Table I took a friend for lunch to find that the restaurant is in fact under refurbishment! Very embarrassing and had to pay for another lunch in a lovely restaurant just up the road called The Spaghetti Tree which was great!
Groupon now states that my groupon code has been used so need to try and get my money back.
We arrived with a confirmed booking to find the restaurant was completely shut. No info on front door, cleary a refit in progress or it had been sold on. Had to go elsewhere.
