Great experience! Our waiter was very attentive and made my birthday dinner very memorable with great service!
I tried to get reservations at the English Grill for an anniversary dinner. Unfortunately it was still closed. Luckily we were able to dine in the same dining room, just from the Lobby Bar menu. Everything was top notch.
Our server Don was excellent
Food was outstanding
Wonderful ambiance, attentive servers, let us up to the roof for the view! And the Hot Brown was to die for.
Everything was amazing. I don't have a bad thing to say, only good. The drinks, food, staff and hotel were superb! Definitely recommend!
We had a wonderful experience, it was like being back in time. The service was excellent, the staff was so attentive. The food was wonderful. We received some background from the waiter about the hotel and were able to walk around and explore. Absolutely outstanding!
The class of class and best of best.. Hot Brown is to die for...my favorite place in Louisville
Drinks and food were excellent. Will certainly go back for another visit.
The food was delicious! I highly recommend the Derby pie (with ice cream, of course) and crème brûlée! Our server couldn’t have been more courteous and attentive (without being obnoxious). It is a pricey meal, but for a special occasion, well worth it!
Dear Jennifer, Many thanks for the nice notes on our food and service. Thanks for choosing us for your special occasion. Hope to have you back with us again soon. Regards, Brad Walker Vice President & General Manager
I have had the hot brown many times but the last visit was sub standard. The sauce was different, it was very starchy with little taste. Was very disappointed as this was a celebration and I wanted to take my fiancé to the Brown Hotel to celebrate over a nice dinner. We ended up throwing our food out to rescue cats. I know the decreased quality Is not the norm because all the others times it was superb.
Ordering a classic Hot Brown at the Brown Hotel is more of an overall Louisville experience than a dining destination. The Hot Brown is basically an open face turkey sandwich served on white toast and smothered in creamy sauce and bacon. Classic comfort food, not fine dining. But the space is magnificent and the service is friendly, so definitely worth doing. The Derby Pie for dessert is the best in the city!
The staff members are amazing! Hospitality the way it was intended to be 100 years ago when The Brown opened. The food is an experience in itself. Be sure to try their custom cocktails- you'll have trouble picking just one!
Incredible cocktails and a great meal. Service was great
Food was very good...service was very good...very nice way to enjoy a relaxing Sunday lunch!
Dear Vicky, Many thanks for the 5 stars and for spending your relaxing Sunday with us! Hope to have you back with us again soon. Regards, Brad Walker Vice President & General Manager
Worth the drive!
We ended up in the English Grill rather than the Lobby Bar, but it was still a pleasant immersion in history. The server was exemplary and the Hot Brown and Derby Pie were excellent, legendary for good reason!
Our biggest reason to return to Louisville is not only the Hot Brown but the fries! Who knew.....fabulous all the way around.
We had an excellent lunch. Atmosphere, food and service were outstanding!
The quintessential stop in Louisville for a Hot Brown was a real disappointment on a recent visit. Service was spotty and inefficient. The cocktails were mediocre and overpriced. The Hot Brown was tasty, well made, and hot and the Caesar Salad was spectacular. I was very disappointed with the beverage preparation and poorly executed service and will not return.
This was a Birthday night out. Everything was perfect. Covid distancing and compliance was demonstrated, service was very good. The cocktails were well made and the food was delicious.
Everything was top notch. We loved it and will return.
We love the ambiance at the Brown Hotel and we enjoyed our time in the lobby bar having a "Hot Brown" and some bourbon cocktails. Solid food and excellent drinks - our server, Yaser, was wonderful and recommended drinks to us. It is of course a bit quieter than normal due to the pandemic, but we felt safe thanks to their grand space, distant seating, and strict mask requirements.
Food excellent & atmosphere exquisite.
What a great place to rest and enjoy the turn of the century ambience. We were treated to a tour of the hotel by the hotel manager. It is a spectacular place to stay and very reasonable rates. The rooms are all updated with all amenities. Thanks again for the comfortable stay and great food, service ,drinks and hospitality.
We had reservations in the Lobby Bar, but were seated (alone) in the beautiful English Grill. Excellent Service. After dinner the manager took us up on the rooftop for a sunset view of Louisville. Very special.
Beautiful dinner! Used the complimentary valet service. Seating right in the lobby of the hotel. Had the cheese plate to share and then I had steak with fries and my husband had the hot brown. Oh my goodness the hot brown was amazing. Definitely a must have. Fries were great too, excellent spices. Staff was super friendly! Worth every penny! Fun piano music being played as well.
Birthday. It was perfect!
One of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. The Hot Brown is absolutely delicious and I would 1000% go again if I ever found myself in Louisville again. The perfect fine dining experience.
Our family met in Louisville from a few different parts of the country to celebrate my wife's birthday. We decided to have dinner at The Brown's Lobby Bar. Keep in mind, there were COVID precautions in place, as there were around the country. So, to accommodate guests, the restaurants were serving meals in the Lobby Bar, a more open area of the hotel. We were not disappointed by the ambience, the service or the food. It's a classic, high end hotel. Our server's name was Yaser and he was great. Very attentive, made great recommendations, and made us feel like we were his only table. He knew the occasion for us meeting and mentioned that while helping us--that made us feel special. Three of our guests had the Hot Brown, the restaurant's signature dish for decades. Yaser described it perfectly and we all very much enjoyed it. All I can say is you have to try it for yourself--my word's alone won't do it justice. When I'm back in Louisville, I'll return to The Brown.
Our server Amy and the manager Troy provided service and an experience that was above and beyond.
Beautiful lobby area! Had the Hot Brown and their famous fries with our cocktails! The Hot Brown was more than enough for the two of us. Delicious!! Very friendly staff! Thank you Amy!!
Wonderful experience! Staff was taking cleanliness procedures seriously. Best Hot Brown ever and chocolate dessert was to die for.
Just a classic
The place is nothing short of amazing. From the spectacular intricacies of the ceiling, woodwork, and chandeliers, the Brown Hotel is a site that everyone needs to see. Amy Nicole, our waitress, was so informative about the hotel and made us feel right at home. She is a gem. Our food was wonderful. I highly recommend trying the Hot Brown.
Great Experience! The nostalgic atmosphere was terrific. Ordered the "Hot Brown" and it was tasty. I wish it would have come with some type salad or vegetable.
Got to explore the Brown Hotel after dinner as an added surprise. Nice place, would return.
Awesome place would love to go back someday beautiful place
The bar area was very nice. The food and service was very good. The original hot brown was perfectly prepared, as well as Ceasar salad with grilled check. I will recommend to others who would enjoy the food and the history behind the Brown Hotel
Everyone visiting Louisville should go to The Brown Hotel and get the Hot Brown. A piece of advice: have them split it in to two portions, because the size is very big! Try the french fries too! Lovely spot and we very much enjoyed our visit to this beautiful spot.
Excellent, the last of the real fine dining restaurants from days gone by. Troy and their staff are phenomenal !
I've been here before but wanted to share with two foodies from Washington DC...many places were shut down due to COVID-19 but the Lobby Bar was pleasantly full (no coughs or sneezes). Some of us got the signature Hot Brown (shared and served in separate dishes) and of course a serving of Derby Pie and the very special "Striptease" dessert. Service is always gracious, food delicious. You don't have to dress up and there were families as well as business types. Complimentary valet parking is also a plus! Piano music in the background was also very nice.
