After reading the reviews, we decided to try the Lobby Bar for the first time on our anniversary, which we had noted when making our reservation. The hotel is beautiful and that’s about where the specialness of the night ended. We both decided to try the infamous hot brown and while it was good, neither my husband or myself understood the hype around it. For $25 a pop, I would have thought it would have left a lasting impression on my tastebuds but it was just ok. Basically that’s how the whole evening could be summed up - it was just ok.
First time here, try the Hot Brown! Great service.
The hot brown was awesome!
Wonderful food and an excellent server.
Great food and service and very cool atmosphere really enjoy piano music as well
It's a beautiful historic hotel with a rich history. The drinks, food and service were top notch. We had the hot brown sandwich and the shrimp and grits. The only reason I didn't give it a perfect score was the shrimp and grits weren't quite as good as I've had elsewhere, more of a brown sauce and not a rich red which I prefer. Would definitely still go back and highly recommend if you have never been there. It's like stepping back in time.
We had the hot brown and it was amazing! Our server was outstanding! Overall a fantastic experience.
We came to Louisville on a whim just to experience a few things which are specific to this region. One being the famous Hot Brown and the other Derby Pie. We also chose the Brown Hotel for these as they are deemed the best. Well let me tell you. The hype is real! The dishes exceeded our expectations by about 1000!
Because of this past year being so hard on the restaurant industry, the Lobby Bar is the only one of three possible restaurants that are operating. The menu is not as broad as it would be if all three were in use. But don’t let that deter you from going. The menu items are more than enough to satisfy all.
I began with the Louisville standard old fashioned and I would say it was probably the best I’ve ever had. My wife and I inquired about portion size and such knowing that the Hot Brown would be a ton of food on its own. Our server, Yassir willingly suggested we split not only the Hot Brown but also all of our courses. This is done without an up charge and each dish is plated as if it’s your own portion. This was outstanding.
We began with the Farmers Salad, fresh greens, port wine poached pears, candied walnuts, dried cherries, shaved pecorino, topped lightly with a balsamic vinaigrette. Absolutely amazing!
Our main course was the Hot Brown. We both couldn’t finish it and it was split! Each bite was better than the last. I can’t even describe how good this was. You have to try it. We ended with the one and only Derby Pie with a scoop of pecan ice cream at Yassir’s suggestion. So great!
Folks, you gotta go. The whole ambiance and experience was top notch. And Yassir made it all so fantastic. I know this review was long but I can’t help it. It was that good.
The Hot Brown was fantastic and the dessert was even better!
The wait staff was awesome. The food was better than advertised and delicious!
Amazing food perfectly prepared and spectacular service!
Service, cheese plate, wings, and cocktails were great.
We came in for the original hot brown. The hotel is beautiful! The waiter seemed scattered and all over the place. The food was really good.
A wonderful location for you and a loved one, a group of friends, or a single traveler on a trip. The Brown is First Class
It was just as elegant as we expected it to be and the food was even more delicious. Most everyone was extremely friendly. Their valet was a little understaffed and we had to figure out where to go on our own after we exited our car. It didn’t take very long and gave us an opportunity to explore the hotel a little. Overall it was a pleasant experience.
Staff was so helpful in providing us a great Hot Brown experience
We ordered Hot Browns and omelets, and all of it was delicious. The bourbon old fashioneds, the mimosa and the Bloody Mary were all delicious! Service from Regina was impeccable. We’ll done!
The experience at the Brown Hotel was a wonderful one including the dinner and brunch we had at the Lobby Bar & Grill. We would recommend to anyone visiting Louisville.
Was in Louisville with friends and came here. Was a cool experience. We got to try the famous “hot brown” and try some new bourbons from their extensive list. The service was top notch also. And the decor is really upscale and appealing. Definitely recommend and if/when I return to Louisville, I’ll definitely make my way here.
Love this place!! If your in the area, stop in to eat or just check this hotel out! The hot brown was delicious as was the fried green tomato BLT! The people are just as wonderful!
Great dining option when celebrating an Anniversary. The atmosphere was great, the lady playing the piano was awesome and the food and service was excellent. Overall was a wonderful experience.
Amazing. Highly recommend Libby bar and grill. James was a fantastic host and waited on us with the best experience we could have had
Only the Lobby menu is available (COVID) but guests are seated both in the Lobby and the English Grill. Very pleasant setting, excellent fare and impeccable service.
We had a gift card for our 15 year anniversary. It was a great experience. Great food. And the hotel was beautiful.
Celebrating my husband’s birthday, it was a nice, quiet, and intimate dinner. The entree we ordered were definitely rich in flavor - forewarned well by our server. The server and host that night definitely added value to the experience.
Fabulous lunch - hot browns were delish and the service was wonderful. Beautiful restaurant and the staff was warm and welcoming.
Outstanding - best BLT ever!
Had lunch and breakfast there. Service was exceptional. Food was delicious and they had unique dishes. Great place. Love the old fashioned elegance of the place.
The food was great, and overall the customer service was awesome. Kat was our waitress and thoroughly enjoyed her service.
The legendary Hot Brown lived up to it’s reputation!!! The shrimp and grits were very good as well!!! Our server, Dylan was very knowledgeable on bourbon and suggested a few awesome bourbons I had never tried!!!
Great place. Like the piano music
The staff was fantastic. We ordered the hot brown ( amazing) And the tenderloins. ( perfectly cooked ) would definitely return
Nice setting. Famous Hot Brown sandwiches did not disappoint!
We had a lovely meal with four people in a quiet room with great ambience and service. The “hot brown “ is excellent and worth coming for. The skirt steak was a bit tough and the pasta primavera could stand more vegetables but overall the food was good.
Excellent! Food was outstanding and the service was top notch. Our server was kind, personable and fun!
You can’t do better than, or even as well as, the Brown. Impeccable service brings you top-notch food in a beautiful space.
We enjoyed lunch at The Lobby Bar and Grill. The Hot Brown was awesome!
The Hot Brown was excellent, it is a large serving can be shared. Bourbon fries were delish, very unique. Kentucky Mule and Old Fashioned a must.
All of the people that we engaged with were very mannerly and polite. If you grouped them all together in a picture they would be a wordless definition of "Southern Charm".
It started with Troy helping us with our luggage and valet parking. Our server was a young blonde woman, but I don't remember her name. She gave my wife and I the best service we have had in years. The food was good. My wife had the farmers salad and macn' cheese and liked both of them. I had the shrimp and grits and it was very tasty. My only complaint is that there was an inch of shell left on the end before the tail. Leaving only the tail would have made it easier to eat.
Excellent wait staff
