   Just dined at LOAM while my daughter and a friend were at the theater. For that, the location is perfect. I was hoping for a great evening but overall it was a disappointment. We were seating upstairs, tucked away which was not a real big deal because we still had a view of the ‘hussle and bussle’ of the restaurant. Our waiter was very nice and helpful, pointing out the favorites and NOT-favorites of the menu, which we appreciated. After consideration I had the veggie burger and my husband the burger. Both were very underwhelming. The veggie burger was super dry and the burger was dense and hard. The fingerling potatoes were good. Overal it was good for spending our time there waiting for the show to be over but we will not be back.

   Waited 45 minutes for food to arrive and it never did. Other people who got there after us were served. Finally left without eating since we had theater tickets. Bread was served but four slices of bread for five people for which we paid $10. Will never go back.

   Always can depend on good food and good vibes from the staff at Loam. Consistent for a great breakfast (avocado toast), happy hour $10 burgers and good wine and drinks. If I'm in DTLA I always go.

   I expected more. The great service couldn’t overcome the mediocre food. There’s so many better options in LA at this price point. I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

   We were staying at the Ace Hotel. Waited for 30 min to be seated, though pre-booked dinner. Then were told the kitchen was closing, but they finally accommodated us. They were out of one of the preset menu dishes, which was a bit frustrating. They tried to make up for it with 2 glasses of wine on the house, but not the romantic experience I was hoping for on Valentine's Day...

   Honestly the worst dining experience I’ve had in LA. Extremely overpriced for low portioned food that was subpar at best and the slowest service I’ve ever had. Even worse that we had to wait 20 minutes when we already had a reservation. Hard pass.

   I asked for the steak medium well and received it entirely pink and medium rare. Our dinner arrived at 10:20 when our reservation was at 9, our cocktails were poured extremely heavily to the point of being undrinkable. I wanted something to pair with my dinner not to end up drunk. We were seated in the center and the line of people with reservations were just gawking in anger and boredom at us the entire time. Horrible seating placement, really uncomfortable vibe. The food was disappointing and the fingerling potatoes were undercooked. I don’t think I had any moment of the night where I said “this made it worth it” incredibly disappointing for the Ace Hotel .

   Food was very good. Service was abysmal. Waited an hour after ordering drinks before we learned they lost our ticket. We ended up being at the restaurant 3 hours. Waitress continually forgot whose food was whose, forgot to clear plates, forgot to bring check, etc. We felt like we were stuck in this restaurant and could not leave. It was like purgatory. Additionally, as we were waiting for our ride, we heard our waitress and another staff talk negatively about another customer. Overall this was a nice place ruined by horrible service. Would not recommend this place for a date.

    We arrived for our reservation on time and was told that it would be from 10-20 min before we can sit but we would grab a drink at the bar while we wait. 30min goes by, no one lets us know the table is ready. After 40min of waiting, the host told me “3 minutes, tops” almost 15min later, an hour of waiting for table from original time. We get sat at what looks like at best a cocktail table. Our waiter greets us and doesn’t come back for another 15-20min. They bring the first course of the prefix, which looked delicious but unfortunately we had no silverware. That took about 5min and two staff members to figure out. The flow of the prefix was all over the place, items coming on top of each other. You would get three items and have to wait another 30min before the main course and THEN wait another 20min to get dessert. We have now spent over 2 1/2 hours before desert. On top of all of this, the waiter double charged me for and “Open Food” item. I pointed out the error and it was fixed- but that took time too. Mind you that this was Valentines Day. Overall, not a good experience from greeting to departing. Staff looked overworked, overbooked and overwhelmed. Huge fan of Ace Hotels but unfortunately not of LOAM Restaurant. Giving 2 stars because the ambiance saved from a 1 star.

    The staff was terrific and the food creative and delicious. One of the salads was sandy, so we sent it back and were comped a replacement salad by the server, graciously handled. Lots of interesting vegetarian options!

    We were sat at the worst table— right by the bar, next to a wall, and our purses and phones kept getting knocked over. Then there was our waiter, who’s name I didn’t even GET because he was not attentive at all. We waited 45 minutes for EACH DRINK WE ORDERED when he finally made his way around to our table. He wouldn’t even look us in the eye. I was very upset. The manager was kind and comp’d our meal, but I will never come back here again.

    Understaffed. Hostess is very mediocre… not rude but not friendly. I had to ask for a server after waiting over 30 min unnoticed at our table. Our food came 40-45 min after our appetizers. Unbelievably poor care for diners.

    The new menu is limited, and the food was surprisingly bad. Market Salad huge but bland, Kohlrabi Salad passable. Out of the one fish dish. The smoked chanterelle and asparagus risotto was, in a word, terrible. Barely edible, as if it had a bottle of artificial smoke flavor. And not a piece of asparagus to be found. The burgers, both vegan and meat, were passable. Service from our waiter was incompetent, though others helped out so we were fed. I think this place is a victim of the pandemic, it used to be good.

    My friend and I dined here before seeing a show at the Ace Theatre. The staff, food, drinks - all great! And the very short walk to the venue was a bonus because we didn’t feel we had to rush to make it there.

    Everyone enjoyed their food and the presentation. That being said, we had several distracting experiences: No bread is yummy enough for a few slices to be worth $10 The sticky stuff we scraped off our table shouldn't have been there when we sat down. Meals should come to all diners at once, not to only two, then eventually the third, and the fourth guest sits and waits for a while to be last. Valet shouldn't insist on $30 for theater goers, when hotel assured us that restaurant charge was $20. Thanks to hotel manager for solving the problem & comping our car.

    We both had burgers, which were OK but too tall to eat comfortably. Service was slow and they forgot to bring cutlery until asked. Very small glasses of water, obviously to get us to buy drinks.

    The Brussel sprouts were delicious Bread was burnt and pricey for toast and butter My chicken was good but the veggies were just ok My friend had a burger. The burger was good but the bun was bland and spongey. And the fingerling potatoes were bland. The drinks were beautifully presented and the ambiance was pretty. Overpriced food but nice enough Better to go for drinks before a show at the ace hotel

    Perfect location when downtown to see a show. The food is delicious and inventive. The Brussels were out of this world and the cocktails were outstanding. Staff were wonderful even with a busy/full dining area. I will definitely have LOAM on my short list when in the area.

    The wine was very mediocre. The black cod a watery mess floating in some cous cous. My friends hamburger was almost raw between 2 pieces of unappetizing bun the only saving grace were the potatoes!

    While the wine list is quite limited, the quality of the food is nothing short of outstanding. We had the flank steak, black cod, and roasted cauliflower with chickpea flour and were delighted with the taste and quality of each dish....simply excellent. I would definitely eat here again on my next trip to Los Angeles
