Omg. That is all.
This place is some next level shiz.
This is a very small restaurant with a limited menu. Make a reservation and be prepared to make your selection from a limited list. Now that I have that out of the way be prepared to eat some delicious authentic Peruvian food. The fish was prepared in plantain leaves and arrived on a chunk of slate accompanied by yucca and plantains. It was perfectly prepared and oh so delicious. The ceviche is available as an appetizer or as a meal. the meal portion was plenty to eat but the highlight was the sweet potatoes that accompanied the meal. Never would that thought that ceviche and sweet potatoes would go together but they do here. Do yourself a favor, book a table next time you are in St. Augustine.
Llama is spot on every time we have been there! It’s not easy to get in, but when you do you’re in for a treat! The service(love Julia), food and wine list are fantastic! The Pulpo (Octopus carpaccio)is out of this world as is the Causa Trio appetizer. The Mar Y Tierra (surf & turf ) and the Costilla Seco (braised beef ribs) entrees are truly delicious and cooked to perfection!! And for dessert... Crema Volteada! Mouth watering fare done exceptionally well!
The CHEFS TABLE of St. Augustine:
I'm a physician who is always on the search for food that delivers local, high quality nutrition. I've traveled the world teaching and I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt, Llama is right up there with the best restaurants I've ever experienced.
They take pride in each masterpiece that comes to your table. The food is high dense nutrition with a presentation that rivals something on the show Chefs Table.
My recommendation: Go for something that you're not familiar with; it will blow you away.
Lovely upscale Peruvian restaurant in St. Augustine. It is very small and intimate with thoughtful decor. The menu is comprehensive, the plating is beautiful and the food is excellent. Each dish tells a story about Peru which makes the diner feel like a collaborative partner. Highly recommend.
Great restaurant , food and service. We'll be back .
The best dining experience I’ve had in the St. Augustine area. Staff was friendly and answers all our question and made suggestions.
Food was excellent authentic Peruvian Cuisine . The attention to detail, presentation and most importantly the taste should not be missed.
Next time we want to try the 13 course taster menu.
The food was phenomenal from start to finish! Very nice setup of each dish and extremely tasty...
Always a wonderful experience!
Fantastic little restaurant serving authentic faire. Waitstaff was helpful in describing those items we were not familiar with. Pulpo app and beef rib was incredibly tender. Lentils had a very flavorful sauce. It is the current rage in St. Augustine so reserve your table early
A new favorite, the food and service were outstanding.
Our dinner is always so wonderful!!! Service is always good. I highly recommend this place!
Food fantastic!. Our waiter was extremely nice and helpful.
If you want to try something exceptional with inventive tastes this is the place. Excellent wine list pairings and service. Could not recommend highly enough!
Everything- the service, the table and decor, and especially the food -was terrific. Absolutely a wonderful dining experience.
Took the wife there for a date night and we were both pleased. They explain the dishes to the T, and make you feel like you are on the streets or mountains of Peru!! Will be back again!
Llama wins for “Best Dinner of the Week” for this year’s vacation. A total surprise, we LOVED this restaurant. Service was very good, and they kept pace as the restaurant filled. We shared ceviche, which had the most delicious lime juice combination we’ve ever tried. She had the fresh catch - an Amazon import, and he enjoyed the steak and shrimp over tagliatelle pasta, the cream sauce for which was amazing. We finished with desserts which came with a beautiful, artistic presentation. Great to see this caliber restaurant on the east side of the Bridge of Lions. We’ll be back. Oh, and try the Peruvian beer!
Excellent attentive service from the moment we walked in. Something very different from most restaurants in St Augustine in that it is small scale and you get the feeling that every dish is carefully created by the chef for the customer rather than the large volume, almost mass catering approach, that is the overriding feature of many of the more well known restaurants in town. The servers are knowledgeable about the food they are presenting and the dishes have distinct flavours and textures that compliment each other to make the Peruvian based cuisine a delightful experience. Prices for both food and wine are very reasonable. The only disappointment was that we tried to book a table for the following evening , our last night in St Augustine, so we could try one of the tasting and wine pairing menus but it is closed on Tuesdays!
What incredible dining experiences Llama Restaurant creates. The meal, service, and ambiance were true delights. Each dish had a story behind it which was evident not just in the cuisine, but also its display. My wife and I were completely blown away by our meal. We started with beef hearts and ceviche. Wow! For mains we both had fish dishes. Wow! For desserts we had the chocolate mouse and the dulce de leche sandwich cookies. Wow! Wow! Wow! We will recommend this place to anyone going anywhere near St. Augustine. Thank you!
It was simply a phenomenal experience. Lovely ambiance, exceptional service and one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The owner was super friendly as well. This is a must try! Be sure to make reservations to guarantee a table - they book up on weekends.
The entire experience was delectable. The staff seemed to be proud of their restaurant and it showed through in the service.
We had the beef heart, ceviche, and also pulpo /octopus as appetizers. The heart and ceviche could not have been more perfect. As entres we had the churasco(amazing) and the river fish(the name escapes me), it was amazing as well. The deserts were just as delicious with a flan of the day, and the passion fruit tres leches.
Great service and beautifully presented food!!!
Llama is GREAT! We dined there last evening and had a fantastic dinner and an overall great time. The food is superior, prepared brilliantly. The quality rivaled any restaurant we have ever visited. The presentation was truly artistic, so much so that we actually took pictures of our food, which we never do. The service was also excellent, unrushed, friendly and professional. The menu includes a great variety of dishes and the hardest part of the evening was choosing among them. We will most definitely be back to our new favorite restaurant
Entree was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was 5-star....such a gracious server willing to indulge our ignorance about South American specialties. The spun sugar dessert
(their creme brûlée competition)was a spectacular offering. Dazzling to see and so tasty...
the perfect top-off to a very pleasing meal. We would definitely return on another trip to the area.
Just a thought: Make the sign larger so out-of-towners don't miss the opportunity to
enjoy such lovely dining and atmosphere. We had trouble spotting the restaurant altho the
directions online were very clear.
Such an amazing moment to reunite with a long lost friend. Thank you for making it so special!!
AMAZING! Best dining experience in St Augustine. We are waiting for our next opportunity
to eat here again.
Wonderful restaurant with imaginative, delicious Peruvian food. Great ceviches. I had the Tiradito and the shrimp chupe and both were wonderful. My husband had ceviche as an appetizer and also the main course ceviche and loved them. Desserts are imaginative and delicious. Service was excellent. Overall we highly recommend it.
Recommended by a friend, we were not disappointed. The food was cleverly presented and delicious!
The food was excellent and there was an interesting and very nicely priced wine list. The entire staff was welcoming and our waiter was knowledgeable and engaging without hovering.
We loved Llama. The food was interesting and absolutely delicious, service was great. We will be back frequently.
The perfect neighborhood restaurant...lovely owners, fantastic food...OCTOPUS - Pulpo!
I’ve eaten quite well on trips to DC, LA, San Francisco, St. Louis..etc, as I really love great food, and Llama was as good as anywhere I have ever been. It was outstanding in every way, especially at those prices. I can not recommend Llama highly enough!
We couldn’t have chosen a more outstanding restaurant for date night with my husband. Food was fantastic coupled with amazing service. The only downfall was the bathroom location. I had to leave the premises and walk to the back of the building to find the bathroom. There truly is no way of getting to it other than walking through the kitchen which of course is a no go! The weather was stormy so as you can imagine I was not happy!
It was expensive as expected. Great knowledgeable staff. The dishes were somewhat experimental it seemed. Scored on the fish rib appetizer, and deserts were yummy. Main river fish meal wrapped in banana leaf had an excellent presentation but did not live up to the hype, rather dry and tasteless but smelled really great. The skirt steak meal was well received and quite a large portion.
Loved our visit to Llama again - this place is consistently innovative & delicious- food presentation is excellent
This was one of the best restaurant experiences we have had in St Augustine! We tried to get in later this week with daughter and husband, but too full! However, we will be back the following week before leaving for home in Michigan!
While vacationing in St. Augustine we decided to try Llama. I have been to Peru twice and love the cuisine. This is definitely authentic and as close as you can get to true Peruvian cooking which depends heavily on the freshest of local ingredients. My husband and I started with the Octopus and Papas with Hauncaina sauce. Both were fantastic. For our main courses, I got the Amazonian fish cooked in banana leaf. When asked if the fish was frozen, I was told that it is flown in from Peru daily on ice. I loved it along with the accompaniments of fresh hearts of palm, yucca and plantains. The fish was enhanced with a passion fruit cilantro sauce. My husband opted for the lomo. He is still raving about it! The restaurant does not have a liquor license, so, unfortunately, no Pisco Sours. However, they do serve wine and beer and the selections were very good and well suited to the food.
The restaurant is small, so I highly recommend making reservations well in advance to be sure that you do not miss out.
Some of the best food in St Augustine. Make reservations early.
The food and service was excellent. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. I also recommend making reservations as it is quite small.
This was my second time visiting the LLama restaurant. We went here for our 1-year anniversary. The service is excellent, as is the food. The flavors are savory and the presentation is wonderful. The serve pallet cleansers between your appetizers and your meal. The service is very attentive and wonderful. I would recommend to everyone. The only thing I have to say is if you're on a dietary restriction such as no carbs and sugars then you may find yourself eating only eating half your meal. There is no side substitution, though you may order a side ala carte. This is what I did, and I would still recommend the Llama to everyone who asks. Great atmosphere, small and cozy dining with a great authentic feel.
