We pride ourselves with having an extensive whiskey & wine list perfect for any occasion and make an amazing old fashioned with a different bourbon or rye barrels that we choose from different distilleries throughout the year.
This is one of my favorite spots in Chinatown. The menu is seasonal so check their menu online for current offerings. On my last visit, I had the Ox rib with onion rings and bbq sauce which was amazing. Highly recommended!
Enjoyed our celebrating lunch very much! Everything was enjoyable and comfortable
I was there with couple of my friends for the first time, but only for drinks. Food smelled good when we were sitting at the bar so we decided to come back for proper dining experience. However, the dining experience was not as what we expected. Service was good. Staff was pretty attentive. Drinks were good, especially with the Ole What’s Her Name. However, the food was pretty mediocre. We ordered Grilled Artichoke and the artichoke did not look grilled at all. It seemed like it was boiled, soggy, and the artichoke was very cold upon serving... The gnocchis was not quite as we expected either. We also ordered Roasted Chicken with truffle, which I think the best of the night, but still fell below our expectation for fine dining. Not that we have great expectation for a restaurant whenever we go out but for the price that we paid, we expected something a little more decent, and of course, a good restaurant should represent good food besides the service and the ambiance. That’s what a restaurant is about, in my personal opinion
Sophisticated comfort food. Delicious and inventive cocktails. Cool and cozy space.
Lighting is very bright. Not much atmosphere. Ordered the octopus appetizer. It was good but we weren't even done and our main course was delivered which does not sit well with us. The server said "oh well". So "oh well" we won't be back.
Ambiance is cool. Love the exposed brick. The 'fall' dinner menu was a little too hearty for me and found the prices a little high. There were 4 of us and we ordered: Burger (delish), Chopped salad, Smoked salmon and Boneless short rib special ($28) was very good. Service was above average. All in all, I really like the vibe at Livestock just prefer the lunch menu and better price point.
Everything was perfect. Maine lobster pasta, Tavern chop salad (enough to share with one or two others), scallop gnocchi, crab cakes(3) and enough to be an entree. We can’t wait to go back. So much lobster on the pasta!!!! Sauces weee so tasty and did not overcome the flavors. Service was impeccable and the old fashioned is excellent. Specialty beers, also. Love love love!!
I was surprised to find out that this restaurant has been open for a long time. It felt like it was run by a team of rookies. Right from the start they tried to seat us jammed in a corner next to the only other people in the entire place. Then the bar tender “dropped” our drink order which meant we waited way too long. And last but not least they served us a beef rib bone which they called “ox” RAW. Really- it was barely cooked. To their credit they did not charge us for that meal but that was right- it was inedible. Maybe they should stick to burgers and salad OR hire a manager to get the staff on track. It was a very unpleasant experience on our 50th wedding anniversary.
The Tavern Burger was as delicious as the last time! The fries were a bit of a disappointment. I recall them being a little crispier...
Our server may have been new. 3 of the 4 entrees were served, the remaining entrée was the same as 2 of the 3 that were served so it was confusing why that entrée didn't arrive with the others. We ended up cancelling the ordered appetizer as we were almost done with our meal and no sign of the crab cakes.
All the food was almost there- crab cakes tasty but not hot. Warm Brie not warm. Pulses slightly hard....
It took longer than expected for our food to come out. The kitchen is visible to patrons and is not kept very clean. It looks very disorganized and unkept.
Afraid to get out of the car due to neighborhood and no near parking. If you're looking for the Chinatown druggie and homeless experience, this is authentic. Looked cozy and packed however. Can't comment on food. Maybe valet would help?
Livestock is one of my favorite places to eat at. The food is excellent, they have a good selection of beer, good cocktails, and great service.
Went there for first time to celebrate late valentines, made a reservation requesting a table with a highchair. When we arrived they sat us in the bar area with an awkwardly high table to seat ratio. Was going to leave after appetizers but was finally offered a regular dining table so we stayed for entrees. All the food was very bland, was looking forward to enjoying the bone marrow escargot, which had no flavor, they put salmon roe on top of lobster tail which was weird. Tartare was underwhelming, prime rib endcut surprisingly had no flavor. Best thing was the cornbread. And I understand this place wasn't exactly kid friendly but when I make a reservation requesting highchair at least reach back and say that you dont have any accommodations.
Went for Valentine’s Day dinner. It was a prix fixe menu and we splurged to get wine pairings for each course, and I’m glad I did. The sommelier was this young guy but he knew more about wine than I know about anything. He came out before each course to explain the wines, the wineries, why he chose each wine.
The food did not disappoint. There was a seafood or meat option for each course so my wife got the seafood and I got the meat. We tried each other’s food and I have to say I enjoyed everything. The highlight was definitely their filet mignon. Juicy, tender, with just the right amount of flavoring. And of course the wine pairings were on point. As the sommelier said, the most bang for your buck.
I’d definitely like to return to give their regular menu a try.
Decided to book a casual but delicious Anniversary lunch at Livestock Tavern. This restaurant never disappoints. The dishes are always outstanding, the choice of ingredients and flavors are always there. The dishes are so delicious that we like to order a dish to-go and bring home.
For lunch I ordered the New England clam chowder for my 3 year old daughter and I had the braised beef tongue sandwich with fries, and my husband ordered the smoked prime rib dip sandwich. We had no left overs!!! All the dishes were tasteful to the very last bite!
Stopped in for a quick Valentine's lunch. Asked for a quiet table and got it! Service was excellent. We were in and out of there in less than an hour, but could've stayed longer if our schedules allowed it. Shared the brussel sprout/artichoke plate. Super yummy. My husband said that their beef dip sandwich was the best he's ever had. I had the lobster roll and it came with lots of big pieces of lobster and full claw meat. Super good. Would highly recommend.
The tavern burger was so good! The best burger ever and the service was outstanding.
We loved the food but found it incredibly noisy! Service was great.
Love it here! My go-to restaurant for American cuisine!
Food is phenomenal, cocktails are even better and service was excellent. Highly recommend this rad little spot.
We were Seated immediately and graciously. Serving staff was perfect at each step of the meal. Very attentive without being overbearing. The menu is excellent with a selection of small plates or a complete meal. Everything was delivered attractively and was delicious. The wine list is not extensive but adequate. However the special craft cocktails are the stars of the alcoholic beverages. Everything together creates a wonderful dining experience.
The noise level becomes very loud as the room fills but it can create a cheerful a cheerful atmosphere.
Burger was amazing. The cocktails where really good.
Love this place! San Fran feel in Hawaii....
It was a great experience as usual. Great food, great service, and my guests loved it all.
Great spot for a nice quiet dinner with New American dishes with a comfort food kind of vibe. Delicious food but overall the dishes were too salty. Service was friendly and efficient.
No issues with the reservation. We were promptly seated by the hosted and served by the wait staff. Very friendly attitude and informed us right away for changes.
We were disappointed that several recommendations made by the server (the soup of the day - oxtail vegetable soup & the house root beer) ended up being not available. We ordered then the server broke us the news that the soup changed to minestone. Also several of the beer choices on the menu were not available. The brussel sprout / artichoke appetizer was extremely salty. We bit into artichoke pieces that tasted like pure salt.
The bright spot was that the entrees were enjoyable.
The food was fantastic. However there seemed to be a lack of ambiance. Although the service was great and the food was very tasty, eating there was boring.
Also keep in mind that it’s downtown/Chinatown so you’re probably better off getting an Uber than attempting to park.
Had the duck and crab cakes. Both were exceptional. The service is some of the best around. Very attentive and friendly
The hamburger and prime rib dip sandwiches were delicious! The salmon was perfectly cooked but the rice with blueberries were a bit much (too sweet for my taste).
Food was amazing, service was okay. We went for our anniversary, but the server or the manger didnt even acknowledge it, even tho a note was made with the reservation
Drink was full of big ice cubes
I have been there many times and brought a friend's first time. We had a great time staying 2 1/2 hours since we have not seen each other over 12 years. Server was truly awesome! The food was excellent as usual. :)
Livestock is one of our favorite places to dine. At night it does get really loud so if you want a cozy romantic or a place to have a conversation this is not it, too loud. If there is anything they need to work on it's their desert menu which is nothing special, kind of disappointed after a great dinner and drinks. Also no fish for dinner.
First time diner at Livestock Tavern. Service was confusing and scattered. 3 different folks helping at points made it hard to know whether things were being taken care of. 1 drink was missed entirely.
Off putting to find the wait staff cleaning restrooms? Just weird.
3 of us had the short ribs. Meat was not fall off the bone tender as promised. The mashed potatoes and kale were the highlight of the dish. Not a good thing for a place called Livestock...
Came here for my birthday, food was excellent and so yummy as always! Service was awesome as well. Had a really great time. Definitely recommend!
Overall great dining experience. Our guest appreciated the ambiance, quality of service, and food.
