Little Star Solano
We love Little Star Pizza and though we don't indulge too often, Sunday was our day to truly enjoy the quiet before the storm of COVID-19 social distancing.
Little Star did a great job of seating diners away from one another, they used disposable containers for parm cheese and crushed red pepper and the server was super concientious about everything.
The food was spot on, the salad was nicely dressed and the Little Star deep dish pizza was loaded with our roasted garlic, spinach and mushrooms.
If you're going to dine out these days, please tip your waitstaff well.
Is it possible to have deep dish in Albany better than Zachary's? Yes, and it's called Little Star. Best deep dish I know of!
Amazing food and service! Went on Valentines Day and they did not disappoint.
Our place to go to celebrate an event or birthday. Best place for families with kids as well as for couples romantic nights.
Food is great - pizza variety is very good. Salads and starters are very nice too. 2 dessert options (cheesecake & ice-cream.)
Very nice setting. Great location. Private parking in the back.
Teddy was outstanding.
This is the best pizza I’ve ever had. Truly magical.
Shared a small veggie deep dish. Nice crust. Food relaxing atmosphere
The thin crust California pizza is excellent. The cauliflower appetizer was great too. Food is always consistent, warm and fast. Service is great and friendly.
I go to Little Star for business or work lunches. Everyone who goes with me loves it.
We come all the way to the east bay for Little Star Pizza! Great deep dish and the corn meal crust is awesome!
But I HATE that you subscribed me. That is why I am only giving 4 stars!
I always get great food and seevice from Little Star!
Delightful food. Well-made cocktails (unlike many other pizza places in the area). Plus, a Bay-Area rarity - parking available on a Friday night. We'll be back.
Little Star always delivers Great food & drinks, excellent service too. Really liked the December special pizza with 4 cheeses, ham & Yukon potatoes. Their Greek salad & roasted broccolini were delicious too.
Little Star has great pizza and the service staff is very attentive. This restaurant can be very crowded and noisy. Avoid sitting at a table by the bar as the patrons seem to forget that people are sitting there and run into the back of your head or crowd the tables.
We have been to Little Star many times and love their pizzas and salads. We took our time to order, but the waitress was patient, as we were catching up on lots of things and enjoying a glass of wine first! We had the roasted cauliflower, which could have used a little salt, and the baked garlic and french bread, followed by the "Goddess salad", and then a pizza that was half and half of the California and the Classic.
All was enjoyed by us, and other than it being very loud (it was Saturday night), everything was great.
Love the food and enjoy the experience of enjoying a meal here. We thought for a time that we might have to choose a favorite between the polenta crust of Little Star and the more traditional crust of another deep dish pizza place. We decided that we do not need to choose one over the other. Each is its own thing. And, this is the best of the polenta crust pizzas we have found.
excellent happy hour deals. great for a couple or a family dinner.
Just a no frills and no fuss kind of a place. Everything was great from cocktails to the wine list to the salads and pizzas. You can’t go wrong!
We celebrate 88 yr bday of father & everything was very good. Price, service, ambiance, etc. we’re excellent!
Fun, lively spot with delicious salads and pizzas
Something for everyone: vegan, gluten free, carnivore
Great pizza and beer. I come to little star when I'm in the area.
I and my family have enjoyed Little Star Pizza since it first opened in Albany. We've enjoyed the pizza and we keep coming back (or ordering take out). Highly recommended.
All reviews are relative to other similarly reviwed restaurants. In this case my review is based on a comparison of Little Star on Solano Ave with Star Pizza on Grand Ave in Oakland, two restaurants that are part of the same business enterprise. Little Star is head and shoulders above The Star in all respects. Food, service, ambience and professionalism are far higher at Little Star and I base my opinion on more than 20 visits to both venues. Star needs to up it's game and it could do so by emulating the management of Little star!
They had vegan cheese as an option. I was so relieved as one of my guests is a vegan. You might highlight that because it took us a while to see that on the list. I really enjoyed the dinner there except that the sound of people talking made it difficult to hear and talk to my friends. On the other hand that can sometimes be a good thing.
Good Food, Good Beers, Good Service, lots of noise, but fun.
The food and atmosphere was great as always!! Beautiful restaurant and area surrounding it. The salad was little boring today and the bread appetizer was just okay!! Usually it's better. The pizza is still awesome every visit though. Mainly the thin crust is incredible pizza. The service to get seated was fast and our waitress was normally fast and helpful!! Little slow at times to get dishes though and drinks refilled. Overall was great dining experience. Thank you
Little Star was great! The arugula/fennel salad was a little less exciting, flavor-wise, than I was anticipating, but the broccolini, burrata mozzerella, and roasted garlic appetizers were DELICIOUS, and the service was FANTASTIC. Pricey, but I knew that going in. Highly recommended!
We love Little Star! The service was great and the food was plentiful and delicious. But the noise level was painful and made it difficult to have a conversation. I would like to give 4.5 stars, taking .5 off for noise.
A neighborhood gem that is quiet and relaxed for lunch.
The BEST! We just love this place... The staff is friendly and the corn meal crust is to die for.
The thin crust pizza was my favorite and the drink selection was on point. Love the animal house IPA
I ordered a make your own pizza. Kalamata olives, Tomatoes and basil. I asked the waiter how the toppings are charged, to which he didn't give a clear answer. what I thought he said $2 additional for up to 4 toppings, it turned out to be his recommendations were to add up to 4 toppings only. anyways, I though my small pizza was way too pricey. the overall service was good, aside from the miscommunication (Menu wasn't clear). the food was very delicious, my first bite on the tomato gave me the impression of eating meat. it was really good. the venue was too loud which made the conversation with friends hard.
Little Star is our go-to birthday restaurant, because it has a full bar, gluten free pizza for 2 of our family and the salads are delicious. We were very sad not to see the made-to-order gluten free brownies on the dessert menu-which was how we always did the cake. Perhaps they could put this delicious item back on the menu without saying that it is gluten free--some think that means not as good. Love Little Star!
Went to lunch with a co worker. We go to Little Star a lot because we love the pizza, great service and the dining room is great.
We are huge fans of Little Star. Only issue is that service is slipping some. I have come to expect all the food coming as ordered and on time, but our appetizers were missed and offered to us after the pizza came.
Great for groups! Always fresh and yummy! Drinks and beer are great too.
We've been coming since 2008 (SF Divisadero) and they never missed on their service quality. Keep up the great work!
Food and service were excellent but the price was somewhat on the high side.
We we late and the table was set ready for us. The nice server took our drink orders right away and delivered immediately then took our food order and helped a colleague with a few gluten free options.
The thick crust and thin crust pizza was amazing.
