Helmed by Executive Chef Bob Ryan, Little Sparrow is a neighborhood "continental" restaurant from Ford Fry. Inspired by Parisian bistros and Brooklyn’s favorite taverns, Little Sparrow picks up the mantle from its beloved predecessor, JCT Kitchen and Bar to serve the Westside in a new incarnation. Named in honor of superstar French chanteuse Edith Piaf (Fry’s Howell Mill Road steakhouse, Marcel, is named after Piaf’s lover, boxer Marcel Cerdan) the menu presents timeless Brasserie classics and simple, indulgent fare including an entire section dedicated to extraordinary "Frites." Dinner is framed by a top-flight cocktail program and a superbly curated wine list, as well as tableside service meant to make every guest feel pampered.

Overall, we were sorely disappointed with the food. Having read the reviews in advance, we decided to take a chance. Unfortunately it was a very expensive lesson. The bread was tasty, but hard as a rock. Onion soup and desserts cheese cake and bananas foster were the only really good things we ordered. The steak was dry and tasteless and the chicken was charred beyond belief. The chopped beef was so bad only a few bites was consumed. The hostess did comp the cheapest entree, but the bill was still far north of $300. Needless to say we won’t return.

We had high hopes arriving. The space was very nice(an upgraded jct kitchen). It quickly went downhill. Wine list was obscure and there was no one on staff who had any idea what the wines by the bottle actually were(ie what grape or even what they tasted like). Clearly the bottle we were brought had issues. They nicely took it back and we went to mediocre wine by the glass. But this was not the main problem. The main problem was it appeared there was no chef within 50 miles of the kitchen. My take was some chef somewhere created some recipes and hoped the folks they deserted in the kitchen could execute. They could not. In order: the shrimp first came out horribly undercooked and then on the second try ridiculously overcooked. Not to mention the quality of the shrimp was on par with farm raised shrimp from Thailand. (Ie flavorless and weirdly watery). The Dover sole was way too firm(my wife thought overcooked, I thought a little old) and slightly fishy for what little flavor it had. The scallops were embarrassingly tiny and per my Mom “undercooked” and “rubbery”. The chicken was fine, but really simply a large piece of meat with nothing else. For dessert the bananas foster dessert was fine, but the staff couldn’t quite figure out how to light it or really even serve it. All in all not anyplace we would ever want to spend a way too long 2 and half hours of our lives. Oh well…

We will be back! Everything was delicious ! Our server Kevin was spectacular. The chocolate soufflé is a must ! The seafood is excellent and don’t skip the dripping potatoes.
