Little Sister - Redondo Beach
relaxed social environment that feels more residential than
restaurant, as if you're being invited into the Chef Tin's home.
Little Sister's menu showcases Chef Tin's take on one of the more
interesting and rich collisions of food and culture that was borne out
of the European colonization of Southeast Asia. Dishes blend and
balance the spices and flavors of Southeast Asia with French
techniques and Dutch and British colonial influences. The menu is
continually and progressively evolving, reflecting inspiration and the
seasons. "Little Sister Redondo Beach offers straight-up, honest, home-style Vietnamese cuisine—the type of food I grew up eating with my grandparents in the San Gabriel Valley.”

The prices are now out of the roof, and the food quality went downhill. Smaller portions topped with bunches of cilantro to make them look bigger? I really loved food here, been there two years ago, but it just wasn't as flavorful and not at all authentic as before. Not spicy even, which was a big surprise. We had dumplings (do not recommend, you can just boil frozen dumplings at home and throw piles of cilantro on top), papaya salad for $19 (just ok, nothing special and overpriced for what it is.. maybe since it includes 3 shrimps..?), salmon (this was very good though again for $25 just small) and rice autumn wraps (also good). Little pecan tart with dates was good.
Great food and professional staff! We had a great time!
The ambiente is poor; the food was ok, but not stellar. Overall, would not have dinner there again.
I loved it, the food was phenomenal.
Little Sister was awesome. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Great recommendations from Stephanie about what to order. The menu is great for sharing and offered a little bit of everything. Loved both the octopus and okra. Wine list and cocktail menu are great! Will come back and definitely will recommend.
AMAZING! The service was spectacular. We were seated quickly and had drinks within a couple of minutes. Noise level is perfect for those of us who are looking to chat and interact during the dining experience.
Food wise, this is what we dived into, and definitely recommended you do too!
1. Pork, shrimp, and crab dumplings
2. Lemongrass chicken
3. Pan fried e-fu noodle
4. Short-rib banh mi
5. Warm pecan tart
Thank you little sister for sync and amazing and tasty experience. Can’t wait to be back!
Orders not well timed. Two of us received our meal, while one waited 20 more minutes. Waiter, however, was extremely nice about it.
Amazing cocktails and food! Very tasty!!!
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in LA. Outstanding!
The food and drinks were excellent! We had a wonderful server as well. It was a bit breezier and colder than expected. Bring a jacket or blanket if you are not seated by a heater outdoors.
Noted a nut allergy on the reservation, a staff member called to confirm the reservation and the allergy, we assumed we were fine. Every dish brought to the table contained peanuts, including dishes that did not mention on the menu that they contained nuts, until we asked the food to be sent back and reminded the server we had an allergy. Narrowly avoided a hospital trip (unfortunately puked up the meal and was sick the rest of the night).
Aside from that, the food was tasty and the service friendly. The outdoor seating was nicely set up and had plenty of heat lamps.
Usually this place is absolutely amazing and an automatic five stars. Hoping this was just a weird night — going to wait a while before coming back though.
Great service and great food. We ate outdoors and it was really lovely.
Excellent food and amazing service. Highly recommend! The sticky rice is ridiculously great,as is everything.
Excellent fresh flavors. Sufficient options for a vegetarian. Good value. Definitely would return.
Very good service and good food. Reasonable prices. I highly recommend it
Food is innovative, creative & delicious!
Even the heat level is pretty acceptable across most palates. Very limited options for a bottle of wine that isn’t in the $80 range (as was suggested by our server). Deafening noise level mostly due to hyped-up music means outside dining which is great unless u get stuck by the door.
Two Entrees came out with the appetizers. Then another entree came out 25 mins later and last entree came out 12 mins later. Will not go back.
Great service. Friendly. Fantastic food. Nice portions. Don’t rush you out.
What an amazing experience. We celebrate our anniversary at Little Sister last night. I used to frequent the DTLA location, so I was already expecting a good time, but Redondo really went above my expectations. First, the food was DELICIOUS! Everything was perfectly made and brought out promptly. We had the black rice (my all-time favorite); the spring rolls; the char sieu pork belly; and the e-fu noodles. Our drinks were also amazing: whisky tea and the gin one (don’t remember the name).
But what I REALLY want to highlight is the service. Benjamin, who said they’re there on the weekends, provided excellent (emph. added) service. They were enthusiastic, attentive, and funny. If you’re able to sit in their section, I am sure you won’t be disappointed. We truly had the best time!
The flavors were simply exquisite!!!
Great food. Helpful team. (Nitpick was that I should have changed chairs.m).
little sister’s food is inventive & delicious!!
sadly the staff was uninterested in waiting on our 6 top … we had a reservation at 7pm, we ordered drinks and waited, they came back (slowly…. ) we ordered food, dumped the food and disappeared … like a culinary ninjas … the 6 of us sat down, ordered drinks … we waited, fact a few people in pur party said - wow, and then literally ran us out of the restaurant … ok kitchens closing,
The service was not good. This was my second time here when I first came I loved the food and the service was ok but this time around the food was salty and the meat was very raw and the server didn’t seem to know the menu or give good recommendations. Overall the experience was very poor.
We ordered a second baguette, the first came one came with pate, butter, and tomato jam, however the second order was just plain bread but we got charged the full price. This was very disappointing. We also ordered the salt and pepper lobster, which was $125, we asked for sausage on the side with rice and didn’t get it. The food was very good though, however we felt we were overcharged.
We had a great experience overall! The food is always really great. Typically we have great service here, but our most recent visit was pretty slow. Overall a great place to go though.
Food, drinks and service are always great
Max was very helpful with food recs, service was great, and was also very energetic and friendly our with table. Shout out 🤙🏼
Dined here for the first time today to celebrate a birthday and we were NOT disappointed! Eveuthing was delicious and the ambiance was great. To top it all off, the staff was awesome! It was a full circle great experience! Thanks to Max, our server, who was awesome!
Fresh ingredients, well put together flavors and seasonings. My favorite restaurant.
Manager greeted us and asked if we had a reservation- we confirmed that and he verified on their computer, the instead of seating us immediately walked away and the hostess approached us with a full repeats of the questions and experience- bad form - we were seated then given water - very slow service - waitress was new and very overextended-not her fault - she did allow us to order way too much food - not a good explanation of the menu for first time which she was aware of our situation- quite expensive for mediocre wines - food expensive - music way too redundant - felt like I was at a Starbucks where they want you to but and get out quickly - very odd - waited an eternity for our check which of course is always irritating- restaurant was quite full - younger crowd - perhaps not for us - not likely to return
I had it in the shaky shaky beef before and it was perfectly cooked to shake. Ours was hard and difficult to chew. The dumplings were delicious I’m perfectly cooked and presented.
Food was great.
Drinks took forever to get.
Restaurant was freezing.
We asked to turn down / off AC "we'll try" - it was f r e e z i n g
We come here for the food and NOT for the service which has gotten worse over time. Wait time between appetizer and main entree was 45 mins. Our server never once came by to ask us if we wanted refills on our drinks or asked how we were doing and we had to flag another server to get our bill. Where is management? Seems like some retraining is very much needed.
Fabulous food with very, very slow service and two competing "thumping" sound tracks (one in dining room, the other from the kitchen).
Had the salt and pepper lobster with fried rice. Our waitress said it was large but it was ginormous whole Maine lobster in a paella pan. Loved it and have enough for another meal . Pricey but worth it is you love lobster and fried rice with lots of seafood in it.
Not for vegetarians!! Told me the special could be made without meat, had sausage in it so I couldn’t eat it, and then offered me free dessert. Almost every dish has meat in it and if the kitchen screws up, it’s on your dime.
Good food good ambiance definitely recommend good service
The food is amazing…. We had the Bo nè and the fried sea bass… it was all so delicious.
Our experience during Covid of course was very different than our time having eaten at the Manhatten Beach location. With that being said we felt very safe while eating our dinner outdoors. The service was good but not great. Waiter only came around when bringing our food although he was very nice. They didn't come to clean our tables so we were eating our desert with the dishes from dinner which was weird. Food was great and always enjoy the tasty dishes.
