Easter brunch! Don't miss out.
Sunday, April 1, 2018
Probably just an off night, but service was terrible - inattentive and disorganized. They were out of almost everything, but didn’t mention that until we had been there a half hour.
Even after we ordered they returned to the table to cancel dishes we had ordered, but only after a long delay.
We eventually just gave up and left to go to Manhattan Beach Post across the street.
Amazing. Food on point. All fresh tasting ingredients. Staff was friendly.
Had a reservation for dinner, waited 25 minutes AFTER my reservation to be seated. There was a ton of backup. I spoke to the other guests around me waiting to be seated past their reservation as well. In order to prevent such a back up, the restaurant should call customers informing them of the wait time and suggest a new arrival time to prevent a crowded environment. It was raining and some guests even resorted to standing in the rain over being packed into the overcrowded space. Aside from the wait, our server completely failed to put in a portion of my order. Overall, not a great experience. Definitely choose the downtown location.
Low key but hip restaurant-we were sitting right next to a celebrity and didn't even realize it! We were running late for our reservation because of traffic and bad weather, called in ahead of time to let them know, and they still went above and beyond to accommodate us and our somewhat large party. Friendly and professional service, stylish but laid back decor, and delicious food (especially the melt-in-your-mouth pork belly and toffee dessert). All of us had a great time, and will likely return if we're in the area.
The food was great. We love the prawn salad, dumplings were a little spicy but tasty, the fried sea bass wrap was good, though it needs more vegetables to create our lettuce wrap and the Shaky shaky beef was good. Not the best we’ve ever had but good enough. It’s a little noisy and it’s hard to get through between tables to the bench seating. Otherwise, a lovely experience.
Wonderful full. Great service!!
Had a group of Asian customers visiting LA. Found this restaurant online and liked what I saw. I like it to modern Vietnamese cuisine but authentic. Ambience is definitely not the usual imagery ones has about Vietnamese restaurant. You don't order the typical beef noodles (infact, it is not even in the menu)on andring rolls here but not the overhyped fusion cuisine either.
My guests really enjoyed the food although the iced drip coffee could be stronger.
All in all, I highly recommend it.
The food was amazing as always. We were disappointed that they were out of the salt and pepper lobster but otherwise amazing. The busing needs a bit of training but the server was good.
Never been when it WASN'T too cold in there. Everyone wears coats to dine as the door remains open... even with the pretty cold weather we've been having. Now THE FOOD ~ that's HOT. We were told by our server there's a new chef. UGHH, couldn't enjoy much as we sweat from the heat of food, then froze with the temp inside. I like a little heat in my food and expected it, but it was over the top. Never again. I used to come because it's a relatives favorite spot, but now even she agrees it's over spicy.
Wish the menu was more descriptive. We ordered salt and pepper lobster and had no idea we were getting WHOLE lobster you eat with your hands. Delicious but we were constantly surprised with what we ordered. SO LOUD too.
Food was excellent, 5 for 5 of the dishes we tried. Portions were very reasonable, decor is really nice. Only negative is that when we arrived most tables were 2 tops and very close together, hard to get to the inside seat, waiter standing behind outside seat, and felt like it would be impossible not to eavesdrop. But then a couple tables left and they joined into a 6 top, plenty of space.
Delicious modern viet cuisine not for spice phobic palate.
Love it, after 4 times.
BUT, if you go with a group, be prepared that protein quantity in shrimp salad and lobster is limited so it is $$ and you need to be prepared to order A LOT. They are not generous with protein. Flavors are big, bright and bold. Spot on.
Desserts are quite good too.
Excellent service and food keep my wife and I coming back here.
To be fair, we did go there for lunch and not dinner. The lunch menu lacked some of their notable items. We did try the papaya salad, saigon lemon grass beef noodles and the fried fish banh mi. Wasn't really impressed by any of them. The papaya salad had disgusting tiny little shrimp in it (you see the black eyes and even my husband who eats live shrimp and all kinds of shrimp did not want to eat these). The beef noodle dish is cold. And the banh mi was on a thick french roll where all you taste is bread, so I opened it up and ate only the inside. The pho soup it came with was just the broth with a couple of onion pieces in it. There are so many better places to eat in MB, that you really should skip this one. (Fishing with Dynamite or the Manhattan Beach Post right across the street is a much better bet!) There was very loud rap music playing as well, which is odd for this kind of restaurant. Was hard to have a conversation.
I would say "It's worth a try for sure... they have a lot of creative food and take some chances, it's cute inside, so worth a try. "
First time dining here, we had the imperial rolls, papaya salad and shaky shaky beef. They do a good job of using trad. Thai flavors for sure - the papaya salad was really nice. The imperial rolls were tasty also - but flavor profile is very similar between the two (sweet, spicy, salty, tangy - the standard Thai profile). The shaky beef was a disappointment. Thought it might be seasoned differently, more interesting perhaps... but it's mainly a lime/pepper sauce and alone, we not very enjoyable. The meat could have used some other seasoning, perhaps something to round out that strong lime juice. $31 for about 5 chunks of underwhelming beef... a lot of restaurants will do a great ribeye with sides for that price..was a bit overpriced.
Not bad, not great... somewhere in between for us.
This was my second time here and it was as good as the first time. Food is good and Service is great
Food and service are always great! Many tasty, interesting dishes.
Far under average - service really sucked unfortunately despite of very good main courses.
The food is excellent. Great use of delicious seasonings. I had been there before. We went for Dine LA. I knew I was not going to get the fixed menu. My friend wanted the Dine LA menu but was told that we both had to order from that menu. We have both been to other Dine LA restaurants where this is not the case. Sometimes one or more of us do not want the Dine LA menu for various reasons but we still want to dine together and some order the Dine LA menu and some just off the regular menu.
We both ordered off the regular menu and the food was excellent. However, my friend wanted to order off the Dine LA Menu and couldn't. Is this just Little Sister or is this a new policy?
Very poor service. Parking is very difficult. Food not served to all guests at same time.
We were disappointed by the fact that our reservation was at 8 and we were not seated until 8:25. Not to mention we drove an hour to get there and were 10 minutes early. They gave us some pickles and cabbage once we got seated "on the house" which we appreciated, but in my opinion, they should have at least thrown in an appetizer. This is one of our favorite restaurants and we'll still come back, but not sure how reliable the reservations are given the size of the restaurant.
Our waiter was terrible, unfriendly, inattentive. We had to flag down other servers to order more wine. He didn't say one word to us after we ordered. He never checked on us, he didn't even ask if we needed anything else he just dropped off the bill without a word
The food was so unique and and completely different from anything I've ever had. The flavors were amazing!!! Definitely not a place for people with a bland taste palette. Will definitely be back!!
Enjoyed the dineL.A.lunch special. I had the papaya salad and brisket banh mi and the food was authentic and fantastic!
all around amazing. they were extremely flexible with our dining restrictions. was catching up with a friend from abroad and they let us stay very late with no bother. thank you for a great evening!
Great food, superb service. Manhattan Beach location has more selection than the DTLA branch. I would definitely come back.
We made the reservation since it looked cute and the menu was looking exciting. When we arrived and were seated it took about 15 minutes before a server came over. At that time since the door of the restaurant was kept open we were freezing and I asked the waiter if they would close the door so it would be warmer. He said he would ask the manager and came back with a negative answer. We paid for the water we ordered and left, since this is not an environment to have a nice diner! No, no, no. I am not dining there for the restaurants pleasure.
First time at this location. We've been to the other two. This was a miss. The wonton soup had tasty wontons but the broth lacked flavor. The sides of cabbage and pickles were not the best we've ever had. The best items were the ribs and the grilled prawns. No extra sauces were offered so that might explain why some items were bland. One server on a busy afternoon means slow service. We were asked how things were after we finished eating. OC location is much better.
This is like a tapas kind of place. My wife really like the food, I found it ok. It is nicely busy and in the center of the collection of restaurants in Manhattan Beach. Service was wonderful, food was good, and I would go back, but it is more of a convenience, fun, busy place to eat, than a food destination in my opinion. Nevertheless, if you have not eaten there, go give it a try, it offers unique, kind of Asian fusion dishes.
The food is excellent but the music is way too loud. Very difficult to have a conversation over dinner.
Food was okay at best. The menu is brief and unimaginative, and with so few options you would expect that the focus should allow them to do it very well- instead it was average. I like almost all of the comparable restaurants in a Manhattan Beach better than this one.
We had dinner here the afternoon/evening before the Manhattan Beach Holiday Fireworks show. Early seating at 4pm so we enjoyed happy hour until 5pm. The food is delicious, albeit expensive, the service is friendly and efficient, the location is great - right in the heart of Manhattan Beach. Two things bothered me, the artwork on the walls (machine guns and hand grenades) and the loud rap music playing on the house stereo. Am I missing something? I don't get it.
Delicious food! Not a lot of space but the food, ambience and friendly service more than makes up for it!
Bahn mi best I ever had
This is one of our favorite local restaurants. The food is very flavorful. The menu changes often and is very creative.
Great, unique food. Slow service! Pretty sure there was only one server for the entire restaurant.
Dinner at Little Sister was a very special evening as always. The service was excellent and the meal unique and delicious. Such a lovely place.
The food is always great. Love sharing so we can try several dishes. We’ve never been disappointed. Will go back again and again.
Amazing food, only complaint is the odd choice of rap music playing throughout dinner. However all the dishes are amazing and pretty big in size compared to other “small plate” restaurants
