Little Sister - Downtown
relaxed social environment that feels more residential than
restaurant, as if you"re being invited into the Chef Tin's home.
Little Sister's menu showcases Chef Tin's take on one of the more
interesting and rich collisions of food and culture that was borne out
of the European colonization of Southeast Asia. Dishes blend and
balance the spices and flavors of Southeast Asia with French
techniques and Dutch and British colonial influences. The menu is
continually and progressively evolving, reflecting inspiration and the
seasons. Scott Young along with Chef Tin curates the restaurant's wine and beverage program
with a focus on intriguing labels, both domestically and from around
the world. Craft beer selection includes special batches from The
Brewery at Abigaile, brewed only for the restaurant.
The restaurant wasn’t open!
They are NOT open. I have no idea why you are able to make a reservation. Their phone doesn't indicate that they are closed either. We drove all the way downtown only to discover that they are closed. Really disappointing.
This restaurant is closed!!! I’m not sure why it’s on your app. My wife and I drove all the way down to downtown only to find the place boarded up and no dinner options available. A truly terrible experience.
The restaurant was closed when we arrived at our reservation time.
Excellent service by Earl. It does get loud and noisy after 7pm. It seems social distancing is not being practiced based on table setup. The place was packed when we left around 8:30pm.
With the new health and safety regulations mandated on restaurants during this crisis, it was such a pleasure to see Little Sister taking the necessary precautions to assure cleanliness, social distancing, and use of protective equipment. And the service by both the hostess and the waitstaff was top notch - attentive and observant - despite the hard-to-hear mufflings behind the masks between myself and my partner with them!
The food was absolutely delicious. We did get their popular Shaky Shaky Beef, but, we were so glad of our server's suggestion for the pork spareribs in a claypot. We believed that it was the best dish! It was absolutely filled with flavour and the rice was fluffy with the right amount of sticky, the pork was tender and not too fat or too lean, and the hidden quail eggs were a treat! We also had the chili salted baby octopus which was also very good - refreshing and the extra crunch from the fried shallots and rice cracker added a nice depth.
Definitely recommend this restaurant!
Great overall service and missed eating at the restaurant!
Really great mix of Asian food, delicious from beginning to end.
Perfect for a date night! soooo good!
The only thing - they don't have cocktails but the food is great.
But other than that, I highly recommend!
Amazzzzing!!!! Such a beautiful spot and amazing food!
Little sister was a very nice experience. I made a reservation a little late and had some issues in the beginning but the staff really made it work for us. Thank you Alicia
I was really please with the communication they constantly, communicated with me to make sure they could accommodate our party. The food was delicious the shaky beef was a stand out and so was the papaya salad! The restrooms were very clean and the decor is very cute!
I absolutely love the food at Little Sister!! Going to Little Sister was the perfect introduction into eating out after many months at home! I love the atmosphere, it cool and the music is amazing. Besides that Josh provides impeccable service and makes the experience 3Xs better! Keep up the Good work and Ill be back!
Thank you

Delicious food and very knowledgable staff. A little pricey, but the food is amazing.
The cod was fantastic. The broth very tasty but not overpowering. The dumplings were tender with an excellent sauce......almost melted in your mouth. Service was friendly and attentive. We will be back.
We made a reservation but we waited over 30mins in the outside.
The inside was very noise and narrow
There was a popular menu that i wanted to eat and go. But i could not order because that was sold out or something. It was too bad and i was wasting my time to eat something i would not expect.
My go-to spot for quick, delicious Vietnamese food with trendy atmosphere.
Food was delicious!
Seating was very close together with other guests
Great food
Great service
Great beer
Never a bad meal. I have been here around 10 times, and look to many many more.
The food and flavor combinations are always delicious.
I've been here a few times and the one thing that stands out every time is the SGV bahn mi. Everything else that I've had from here has been underwhelming and not well executed. The dumplings were not very good Ave their papaya salad was nothing to write home about either. Very middle of the road on most things.
food was imaginative. our only complaint was that the waitress to our order and brought most of the food at the same time. there was no time to eat slowly and savor the food as you didnt want the rest of the food on the table to get cold
I am a food snob. This restaurant blew me away. Best Asian Fusion I had the privilege to experience. Kudos to Chef and to the staff.
One of my favorite restaurants in LA. I’ve been several times and it never disappoints! Food is amazing. Service is usually good. My only complaint is that is gets super loud in evening and they jam pack the tables so no real space between your table and others. But...food brings me back! Every. Time! Shaky shaky beef and Vietnamese crepe are a must!
I wish I could say something better but our experience was very unfortunate and below par.
Seating:
We reserved a table two days ahead and arrived 10 minutes early. Even though we were there on time and had a reservation, we had to wait 30 minutes outside in the cold before we got seated.
Service:
The service was very slow and it took another 15 minutes until a server came to take our order. Since the service seemed so slow, we ordered all of our dishes immediately.
We did not get a water bottle on our table and our glasses were never refilled. After 45 minutes, we had to wave someone down in order to get water.
After our meal, we were not asked if we wanted any desserts and just got the bill. Even though I wanted to try a dessert, at that point I was over asking for more things.
One of our appetizers wasn't served and we asked for it. We were told that it was forgotten and that we would get it shortly. 20 minutes later and the dish was still not there.
The food was really good but this is the only good thing about this place.
Atmosphere:
It was a Sunday night and there was party music blasting which made a date night conversation impossible (not to mention how close the tables are together so I could witness all of the conversations around us). In general it's really loud and crammed.
I think this place is always crowded so they think they don't have to treat customers nicely. A can of coke is $5.50 - this is beyond ridiculous!! The bad service and overpriced drinks left a bad feeling unfortunately.
Great ambiance great food. Thanks for the food recommendations and honoring our reservation with a window seat & nice street view. Would come here again!
Mediocre food and they don’t really honor reservations. We waited 45 minutes to be seated post our reservation time. Really loud inside - totally avoidable.
Our server was awesome! She was very attentive, great customer service and her recommendations were spot on!! The food there is bomb!
I've eaten here a number of times. First I called because our meeting ran long and we were running late. The young lady said no problem and we appreciated that. The rice paper rolls were excellent but the lemongrass chicken was overdone and dried. I was a little surprised. Great service, just dissapointed about the lemon grass chicken.
one of my favorite spots in DTLA. menu is unique and interesting. food is always well prepared. service is prompt, friendly and professional. highly recommend reservations.
Fantastic restaurant, excellent food, great service. I will be back for sure!
Shared plates but large portions. Everything was AMAZING! Braised beef is out of this world
Food was good
This was THE BEST meal of 2020! We can’t wait to come back. The service was fantastic the food was so delicious and every dish got better. We didn’t know where to start so our server gave us his suggestions and just knocked it out of the park!
