The service was excellent and the food was great.
Awesome service. Fantastic food and excellent hand crafted margaritas, will certainly make this spot a regular!
We just wanted an evening of peace and quiet.
So sorry that the Irvine location has closed as I live in Irvine and we have made several visits there for lunch.
That's why we came to your Santa Ana location because the food is so good.
Brunch and Mimosas
Place was closed
It was my first time there. I went there with my friends to celebrate my birthday. My friend is also hispanic and a chef. He really liked the food. I loved it. It was very authentic and can't wait to be back there. The service was amazing and everyone in the team there deserved 5 Stars. We were comfortably sitting outside with the heat on :). Loved their Salsa as it was spicy with the kick and not to mention non stop serving of Chips lol.
When arrived at the restraunt, they informed us they were closing on 20 minutes and not accepting Open Table reservations.
Outstanding food and service. Dining was a bit noisy but the Lobster Encheladas were worth it +++
To say we were underwhelmed is an understatement. After reading so much about this restaurant in OC magazines we had pretty high expectations that it was going to be some amazing, authentic Mexican food. We went during a COVID period where indoor dining was not permitted, so happy to support and sit outside. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce, the green enchilada sauce was mild at best, the steak fajitas had no flavor, though the chicken was surprisingly juicy, though had no flavor. The guacamole needed garlic salt. The best thing was the Cadillac margarita. Can’t believe 2 entrees and 2 drinks was $80!!!
Sat at the outdoor seating patio built for Covid. Was much nicer than expected. Food was great as always. Stay was nice and attentive to our requests for more water, drinks, salsa etc
Look forward to returning soon.
The food was amazing! The crispy lobster taco was especially good.
I love how everyone is always so polite. Always checking on our food, drinks, asking if we need anything else ect.
First few visits, the food and drinks were great. Last 2 times the drinks and food just weren’t up to par with the first visits. The drinks especially were way off. Lacking consistency or maybe one bartender is just better. Overall the patio and staff are great. Just wish that it was as good as the first couple times.
I really wasn't pleased with the lack of customer service. Our table was overlooked and treated differently than other parties, which we didn't appreciate. We paid for our meals just like anyone else and deserved to be treated equally.
I've been going to the Little Onion since 1972. I understand recently they've decided to expand which apparently changed their menu somewhat. My wife and I went to try to support the business during covid-19 so our expectations weren't high, understanding that they were seating outside. We ordered two spicy cucumber margaritas and they were the most sour we've ever experienced. It tasted like half a cup of lime juice and nothing else. I had ordered that drink before and it was great. Our server was nice enough to remove them from our bill but our disappointment didn't end there. The salsa was so hot it was nearly inedible for my wife, as were two of her three tacos she ordered. My two item combination meal was okay. The shredded beef enchilada was good but the cheese enchilada wasn't melted through and the bean serving was about two tablespoons. This just wasn't what I expected for a $21 entree and a $12 drink. Maybe it's all due to Covid, but it just wasn't the place I knew and loved. Not sure I'll ever go back.
Great service and alway good food. We live at Essex and it’s walking distance. They created a beautiful outdoor space. Highly recommended
Great local spot we just discovered. Looking forward to going back to try more on their menu.
Little Onion is a Sandpointe neighborhood gem! So glad they are back to their former quality. Due to COVID-19 there were few guests. We had a cozy corner booth and felt safe. We were able to linger and catch up in the usually bustling atmosphere. We tipped generously for their kindness!
Always great food and service
Total bummer that Little Onion has changed their menu and it is not an improvement so that will be my last visit after 20 years of lunches.
Nice food as usual
Place was cute. Food was great. Service could have been a little faster but overall would go back. Great Margaritas!!!!!
We've been going here for 30 some odd years. The food has always been good, but the last few years it's become excellent. Great happy hour deals. Tried the Margarita Lime Pie for dessert for the first time. Delish.
Birthday and Mothers Day. Service was very good.
Close to work. Taking a visiting coworker out. We enjoyed it. Service was average. Food and drinks were good.
First visit to The Little Onion. I didn't realize that it started 40years ago. The food was Delicious. The best I've ever had. I had a Chili Relleno with rice and beans. Absolutely Delicious. Excellent pico de gallo too. Great margarita. I highly recommend you try this restaurant.
Nice cozy atmosphere, good food, sit in back under the balcony if you want a place to talk because the restaurant can be loud when busy.
We keep trying Mexican restaurants closer to home trying to find one that compares to El Cholo. This one doesn’t even come close. The nachos were pretty good, but the enchilada and burrito were tasteless. Had to dump a whole bowl of salsa on there to find some flavor.
Still a little pricey. A Tostada for 15.00? I know it comes with rice and beans, but damn ya'll. :)
Julie and Miguel were outstanding!!
Great food and friendly atmosphere. And always fast so we can get back to the office in a timely manner at lunch time. One of my favorites!
If you want authentic Mexican food at a reasonable price this is the place. The Sunday brunch offerings are delicious as well.
We took friends from out of state here. Good food, service and friendly atmosphere.
The food was soo delicious and the service was fast. Our waitress had a beautiful smile and was attentive. A+ service with great food!
No parking, rundown restaurant, food was mediocre at best, & service was extremely slow or not present.
Food was delicious and had some kick to it! The meat in everything we had was so well flavored and wasn’t dried out which can tend to happen with some dishes at other Mexican restaurants. Server was nice and prompt with food and checking in with us. I’d be pleased to go back!!
Great food and always outstanding service!
Great food and incredible service! Bring your appetite! The portions are HUGE!!
I celebrated my birthday with my family and the seating on the loft was great. The food was delicious and everyone in my group was happy. The servers were great and very friendly. Thank you Little Onion Restaurant for making my birthday celebration memorable.
